Honestly a hilarious time to upload this considering DA is playing the best basketball of his career since their finals run post-ASB. that’s my only contribution to this discussion
You low key forgot in that game 6 when they were down by 30 against Denver how he had the biggest smile on his face while his teammates are getting slaughtered.
Not sure how you can see actual max players like Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, Lebron, ect and still call yourself a max player putting up those stats and that effort...
I don't want to be one of those cornball glazers but, Dylan every time I see a notification you uploaded it gets me excited which doesn't happen with most TH-camrs now
It’s weird because by all means, Ayton isn’t a “bust”, he’s never had major injury issues that killed his career like Ben Simmons or Greg Oden, his game translated to the modern NBA unlike Jahil Okafor, and he contributed early to a contender. What Ayton lacked was drive, if the Phoenix Suns were a sink, then Ayton was a plumber with all the tools to fix the sink, but no idea what the hell he was supposed to use them for
Bro was straight up frustrating to watch in phoenix. I loved his play some games and others was just left dumbfounded by his lack of effort. Dude really got the bag and lost all his drive.
If you go look at all of the scouting reports on Ayton back in 2018 leading up to the draft, all of his weaknesses were well documented and they are in full display for everyone to see. They said he takes plays off on defense which is painfully obvious, he was a poor shot blocker which he is, he settled for jumpshots instead of establishing good post position for better opportunities which he does, he did not have a nose for the ball which is still true. He needed to be drafted to a team with excellent player development coaches for bigs which the Suns do not have. The Suns made the huge mistake and are now paying for it.
Suns fans knew this three years ago. This is old news. Nurkic gives the same production with better passing and gives 100%. Ayton killed the Suns against the Bucks in the NBA Championship games. He absolutely quit.
That shot of Jokic at 16:28 is great. The lopsided series-winning score, the deadpan eyebrow flick, him looking down at the camera. Game over, Suns. That was actual domination while DominAyton was on the couch playing 2K
he’s been balling since the new year so all we can do is hope it clicks for him before it’s too late. As long as he is still playing on the court and not consistently sitting out injured like Ben Simmons he has a chance
Please do a video on Mo Bamba being an abject failure in the NBA. As someone who lives in Austin and watched him play in college and heard his total bs quote after he got drafted, I would love to see a video rightfully flaming him.
Right after Luka was drafted I actually thought to my self: We will look back on Ayton and Doncic and realize this was the modern version of the Mj Hakeem draft. I knew Doncic would be this good, but I never thought attitude would ruin someone like Ayton
DA is actually playing really good rn and looks the best he’s looked his entire career, but I’m assuming bro made this video before all that happened probably just bad timing with the upload
It’s time to say it, Deandre Ayton is a bust, I think we are entering a new age where basketball has been so streamlined and advanced that coasting has become a new normal for many younger players. We are getting so many guys who simply don’t care, gear and training regimes have improved so much to the point where guys who put little to no effort look stronger physically then guys who religiously worked on their bodies in the 90s. And while I love guaranteed contracts, they are another way for players like Ben Simmons and Ayton to slack off.
He's not a bust he's just a really rettardedd kid who used rettardd strength to get in the NBA, dude hasn't even used his brain for the last 10 years. You could get more out of a kid on the spectrum then DeAndre trying to read a book.
@@reyna1k Number one draft pick… underachieving.. a guy like deandre ayton.. definitely a bust But.. he still very young so things can still turnaround
Only 1 block and 0.7 steals though, and only averages 2.8 free throws a game, that's 24th amongst centers and power forwards, but that's only for March, for the year he only averaged 1.5 free throws.
Trust, we couldn't win with LBJ on this team. Last night against the Clippers, it was another traditional game for us. Ayton is playing great since injury tho.
Yeah, that's been a negative for sure. On the forums, we all criticize that. He lacks passion and fire. But he's been great regardless since post injury. He's been the most consistent player on this team and that's saying something....
that had nothing to do with it bro if ayton averaged 20 and 10 and had consistent good play in the playoffs nobody would care that he was picked above luka. nobody says "oh the rockets were stupid to pick hakeem over jordan" if your pick leads to winning it doesnt matter who was picked under you
As a lifelong suns fan who has watched 95% of his games, I would not say he’s the BIGGEST disappointment, but we were all definitely disappointed. Great first 3 years, and that 2021 playoff run up until the Bucks, he looked like we finally got another Amare on our hands. 18 and 10 is great for a center, people are so used to seeing Embiid and Jokic stats every week they fail to appreciate these guys. But for a #1 pick who went over Luka I get the disappointment centered around him.
Ayton compared to Hassan Whiteside, insulting to Hassan Whiteside, at least Whiteside led the league in blocks one year. Ayton never led the league in anything in his career.
As a former DA supporter and current Suns fan, I think the label "NBA's biggest disappointment" feels unfair. Yes his last 2 years with the Suns were HELL as a fan given his inconsistent production and questionable level of buy-in, but if we're being real with ourselves, he's not a bigger disappointment than Ben Simmons, Anthony Bennett, Marvin Bagley, or Markelle Fultz. The microscope that DA is placed under isn't anywhere the same as the one placed on the players I mentioned, even though Ayton HAS that playoff success that the former players at that top 3 pick level don't have. Don't get it twisted, Ayton is NOT the player he was in 2021, but just because that's the case doesn't make him the league's biggest disappointment.
Ben Simmons has made all nba teams. Markelle fultz got unlucky with injuries. Anthony bennet isnt even in the nba right now but you’re right he is the biggest bust ever. And you’re right about marvin bagley too but he honestly has a case for being better than da right now while being drafted lower
definitely not the biggest bust but his talent is large and undeniable. He could be SO much better then he is, the literal only thing stopping him is himself. Thats a much bigger disappointment imo then simply not having the talent people thought you would develop or lost due to injury.
Make how Orlando failed Dwight next. It will be great including of putting Stan Van Gundy and Jameer Nelson costed 2009 title. That will be interesting alongside Lee missed layup.

Suns fan here, we loved Ayton in the beginning especially helping us get to the finals. He sadly was just too timid and never seemed happy to be playing the game. To this day i wish we had traded him instead of Mikal to the nets
I know people have said this already, but I cannot get over how unfathomably crazy it is that this guy was spending more time on his NBA 2K career than his actual NBA career. My dude, you're living your 2K career. You don't need XBOX!
Suns was solid until Luka destroyed them so bad that they gave up all the things they have to win a championship in the future. They literally gave up the potential players for an aging Kevin Durant
He's legitimately playing like Embiid in the last week. Shows you how good he can be when he decides to care, which for some reason is in the last month of a season on a team that is historically inept. Dude's perma online, so it's not impossible he saw this and was motived by it. There's another 'Ayton is a bust' video I saw floating around a few weeks ago, too.
@@lylewalker5681 Interesting take. Could be something to that, temporary motivation from people calling you a disappointment. Hopefully it continues, but I’m not holding my breath
i say this whenever we talk about deandre ayton, if i had his body, i could put up the numbers he does. what i mean by this is that he does the absolute bare minimum given his physical gifts- i want to emphasize that i fucking suck at the game of basketball and am a 6 foot tall unathletic white dude, so if i could do what he does in his body, that should tell you all you need to know about how much of a work ethic he has
I mean... Maybe. But if you had Shaqs body and athleticism... You could probably be Shaq. Like where exactly do skill and genetics cross over. Skill IS genetic. Partially. It's also hard work. Shaq worked "hard" but no harder than plenty of other people would have worked given the same opportunities and not as hard as many other people. Few people are Kobe Bryant when it comes to work ethic but there are plenty of Shaqs out there. But Kobe is also a generational athlete. Kind of is what it is. You could make that statement about plenty of pros.
Gonna sounds a bit too much but bro can u make a weekly content? Im relatively new to the NBA and I see ur content as a light but fullfilling insight. Craving for more!.
Suns kept wanting him to set screens and rebound. They didnt want him to be a superstar. They had Booker then got KD then got Beal...and you still expect him to avg 20 and 10 with all that offense on the court...he gets to Portland w Simons, Grant, Scoot all tryna take 20+ shots per game.
Deandre Ayton had the chance to be one of the best players in the league but because of his mentality he's just another guy who wasted his potential if he had the mentality of players like jimmy butler or kobe bryant he would have been an all time player but he will go down as a massive disappointment
Ayton during the 2021 Finals run was legit dominant. He was going up against Jokic and AD and not only competing but sometimes winning the matchups. After that run he secured his big contract and completely checked out, it was heartbreaking to see
19:22 all you need to see, the tallest player on the court and he's just sat there like a potted plant while everyone else fights underneath the basket
He's been doing good. I think we've forgotten that players need a couple of years to develop. No matter how good you start it'll still be a few years before you're at top of your game.
props to D.A. for saying the quiet part out loud: the current salary structure makes the second contract so massive & the pressure on the drafting team so high to pay out, that doing just enough to get the max then going to sleep is entirely rational.
DA has actually been turning it around a lot recently. Portland had no idea how to italics him at the start of the season, he never got passed the ball and the actions they did run for him were weird. The last month or two he’s been one of the blazers only bright spots

Ayton on the other hand is absolutely a bum, got Monty fired then left to be a trash can on one of the worst teams in the league.
As a Phoenix Suns fan I'm willing to give Monty way more grace. He has had a lot of his own personal sttuggles throught our best seasons. And they fired him right after his wife passed away. I'm not trying to excuse how ass he's been on the pistons or even the really bad decisions he made as our former head coach but I'm just way more willing to extend grace his way than I am with Ayton. Ayton never tried foreal. He gave us bare minimum effort
Monty was maybe overrated but never a bum.
Man Monte is a Chris Paul merchant. Peep his record with and with CP3. You can take all the losses from this year off and keep the wins. That 💩 is ugly
You all be saying anything
"he's lazy, won't play defense, too many mental lapses, etc." But these concerns were "brushed aside" lol. The guys making these picks are "the experts," right?
These are awesome videos man great editing, props to you.
if the suns had actually gotten myles turner they might have never even needed to trade for kd. imagine the defense with cam johnson, grayson allen, mikal bridges, and then myles turner protecting the rim and spacing the floor on offense
You would still have to count on Mikal and cam to make that jump under Monty. Ask most suns fans we weren’t counting on that
But how would they get Grayson Allen if they traded ayton for him and nurk..?
You wouldn’t have grayson Allen, he was apart of the Beal trade.
@@NolimitP504 no he wasn’t. He was apart of the ayton trade. Beal trade was shamet + cp
@@DopeBoyDreamz you're right he was apart of the Lillard trade
Honestly a hilarious time to upload this considering DA is playing the best basketball of his career since their finals run post-ASB. that’s my only contribution to this discussion
This video is fantastic. Should do more stuff like this.
Feel free to suggest any video topics you’d like to see under my latest community post!
The quality of your videos is top notch. I’ll always respect the work you put out
You know is a good day when Dylandoesbasketball upload a new video
You low key forgot in that game 6 when they were down by 30 against Denver how he had the biggest smile on his face while his teammates are getting slaughtered.
Yep, with a shit eating grin yapping it up with his bench teamate who also didn't give a shit
Josh Okogie was smiling too
Not sure how you can see actual max players like Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, Lebron, ect and still call yourself a max player putting up those stats and that effort...
I don't want to be one of those cornball glazers but, Dylan every time I see a notification you uploaded it gets me excited which doesn't happen with most TH-camrs now
2 weeks ?? What a blessing
It’s weird because by all means, Ayton isn’t a “bust”, he’s never had major injury issues that killed his career like Ben Simmons or Greg Oden, his game translated to the modern NBA unlike Jahil Okafor, and he contributed early to a contender.
What Ayton lacked was drive, if the Phoenix Suns were a sink, then Ayton was a plumber with all the tools to fix the sink, but no idea what the hell he was supposed to use them for
Right, these people just be saying anything..
bro had no idea how to use his tools 😭
He's a bust relative to his draft position and talent level
@@BostonBori92exactly, Ben Simmons type beat
Ok 👌🏾! A Bust is not a player that had career ending injuries. Just a player that that’s failed they’re own career progression, and not injuries.
Bro was straight up frustrating to watch in phoenix. I loved his play some games and others was just left dumbfounded by his lack of effort. Dude really got the bag and lost all his drive.
I like the way you edit your videos!
Ayton over Doncic is still one of the dumbest draft decisions of all time. Edit: Completely forgot that Doncic was drafted 3rd - wild !
Thanks for this awesome case study of the fall off, of Ayton!! Or should I say “DomiAyton”
class video as always dylan
I think the Suns are just fine 😂
Past season no @@kangaroosamurai3058
Suns fans knew this three years ago. This is old news. Nurkic gives the same production with better passing and gives 100%. Ayton killed the Suns against the Bucks in the NBA Championship games. He absolutely quit.
I love your content man. Can you do one on the John wall Bradley Beal era of the wizards ? As a Washington native that’d be the dopest thing ever
That was the most perfect use of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 main menu theme. Well done sir. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Dropped 33 and 19 on the same day this was uploaded
back in 2018 i can’t lie i never thought a video like this would exist
over his last 3 games back from injury hes avging 27 and 17 and hes gonna keep it up
That shot of Jokic at 16:28 is great.
He never had the passion or aggression, i realized that pretty early in his career.
Please do a video on Mo Bamba being an abject failure in the NBA. As someone who lives in Austin and watched him play in college and heard his total bs quote after he got drafted, I would love to see a video rightfully flaming him.
“I’m a max player.. & I’ll continue to be a max player” 😂😂😂
we'll see about that 😂😅
Max player in his 2K mycareer
Delusion at its finest. But I need to hear him say it.
Awesome editing
Need a full Phoenix Suns vid at this point so many intersecting parts on how we got here
1 minute ago, have already watched the entire video i swear this shit is gold
Right after Luka was drafted I actually thought to my self: We will look back on Ayton and Doncic and realize this was the modern version of the Mj Hakeem draft. I knew Doncic would be this good, but I never thought attitude would ruin someone like Ayton
DA is actually playing really good rn and looks the best he’s looked his entire career, but I’m assuming bro made this video before all that happened probably just bad timing with the upload
Can a few games change the last two years?
It’s time to say it, Deandre Ayton is a bust, I think we are entering a new age where basketball has been so streamlined and advanced that coasting has become a new normal for many younger players. We are getting so many guys who simply don’t care, gear and training regimes have improved so much to the point where guys who put little to no effort look stronger physically then guys who religiously worked on their bodies in the 90s. And while I love guaranteed contracts, they are another way for players like Ben Simmons and Ayton to slack off.
They’re aren’t bust or bad players
He's not a bust he's just a really rettardedd kid who used rettardd strength to get in the NBA, dude hasn't even used his brain for the last 10 years. You could get more out of a kid on the spectrum then DeAndre trying to read a book.
I’ve said this for years now, glad people see it
we need to stop calling players that are actually decent-good busts. a bust would be someone like anthony bennett
@@reyna1k
Number one draft pick… underachieving.. a guy like deandre ayton.. definitely a bust
But.. he still very young so things can still turnaround
Ayton's been averaging 29 and 17 on 64 TS% since coming back from his injury btw
All losses too
Only 1 block and 0.7 steals though, and only averages 2.8 free throws a game, that's 24th amongst centers and power forwards, but that's only for March, for the year he only averaged 1.5 free throws.
Just wait until play offs bro. He’s gonna be -3x that
Babe wake up, new Dylandoesbasketball just dropped.
DA is lowkey becoming insanely underrated
Would you ever think about doing like a saga? Following a team through its full history? I feel like you’d put out a banger
Tbh, his downfall started when he was drafted above Luka. Even if he turned out to be a good player, he would always be compared to Luka.
that had nothing to do with it bro if ayton averaged 20 and 10 and had consistent good play in the playoffs nobody would care that he was picked above luka. nobody says "oh the rockets were stupid to pick hakeem over jordan" if your pick leads to winning it doesnt matter who was picked under you
Ayton was the right pick for the Suns. When the Suns drafted him that current roster already had 4 other guards
@@Jeremy-ot6pbgood point with that hakeem take
That’s a horrible take, a different mentality could’ve propelled him to a hall of fame career
@@Jeremy-ot6pbhe averages 16 and 10….
Releasing it on a day he goes 33 and 19 gotta hurt
Not sure the story is over. Casually, he's playing very well as of late
The smash bro’s music for the section on how much he plays videos games 😂
7:26 dont disrespect the argentinian pointgoat 🇦🇷🐐
That guy can really pass the ball
I love your outro bro, goosebumps everytime
Dude missed a game because he was “trapped” at his house in a snow storm lmaooo
Bro your music timing is hysterical 15:21
Fr I don’t get why ayton is getting all the hate, just leave this man alone
Ben Simmons has made all nba teams. Markelle fultz got unlucky with injuries. Anthony bennet isnt even in the nba right now but you’re right he is the biggest bust ever. And you’re right about marvin bagley too but he honestly has a case for being better than da right now while being drafted lower
@@scooby1027 how is he the biggest bust ever??and u pick Marvin over ayton, bro you are actually stupid
definitely not the biggest bust but his talent is large and undeniable. He could be SO much better then he is, the literal only thing stopping him is himself. Thats a much bigger disappointment imo then simply not having the talent people thought you would develop or lost due to injury.
@@scooby1027cmon bruh Marvin bagley is nowhere near ayton especially recently ayton has been outstanding
Great work!
I love these ❤
Make how Orlando failed Dwight next. It will be great including of putting Stan Van Gundy and Jameer Nelson costed 2009 title. That will be interesting alongside Lee missed layup.
Good video. I usually am very negative on TH-cam videos but this guys videos are usually fantastic. I appreciate his work, not enough to donate money (actually i don't think he even asked me to, i really like him) but enough to leave a thunbs up for sure. 👍
Suns fan here, we loved Ayton in the beginning especially helping us get to the finals. He sadly was just too timid and never seemed happy to be playing the game. To this day i wish we had traded him instead of Mikal to the nets
Haven't watched yet but why post this after he's started to look kinda nice?
That’s what I’m saying
Getting roasted drives engagement haha
I know people have said this already, but I cannot get over how unfathomably crazy it is that this guy was spending more time on his NBA 2K career than his actual NBA career. My dude, you're living your 2K career. You don't need XBOX!
Sarver was racist, sexist and cheap…ran off a lot of talent, staff and rings.. do a story on him. It’s wild
Sarver let Joe Johnson walk and that started the end of that Nash-led Suns team. That teams should have won at least one chip.
Suns was solid until Luka destroyed them so bad that they gave up all the things they have to win a championship in the future. They literally gave up the potential players for an aging Kevin Durant
Bad timing on upload dude is playing like a star rn
A few games doesn’t change the last few years.
Portland is where he’s going to turn his career around. These last couple weeks is just the start
@@lylewalker5681😂😂
I don’t know why but I just love the way this guy always says HOWEVER.
i say this whenever we talk about deandre ayton, if i had his body, i could put up the numbers he does.
what i mean by this is that he does the absolute bare minimum given his physical gifts- i want to emphasize that i fucking suck at the game of basketball and am a 6 foot tall unathletic white dude, so if i could do what he does in his body, that should tell you all you need to know about how much of a work ethic he has
I mean...
That clip of cp3 not getting dapped up is funny as hell😂
hes dominating right now. the nbas biggest disappointment is just stupid as well, there has been so many worst busts than him. bad video
Gonna sounds a bit too much but bro can u make a weekly content? Im relatively new to the NBA and I see ur content as a light but fullfilling insight. Craving for more!.
Ayton is the epitome of the saying "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."
He could have been a modern day David Robinson.
Ayton during the 2021 Finals run was legit dominant. He was going up against Jokic and AD and not only competing but sometimes winning the matchups. After that run he secured his big contract and completely checked out, it was heartbreaking to see
Ngl he’s playing great right now
19:22 all you need to see, the tallest player on the court and he's just sat there like a potted plant while everyone else fights underneath the basket
Bros been balling the last few games
The last 5 or 6 even.
It’s that teensy bit of hope that made the Suns wait so long to pull the plug on Ayton. That sliver of potential gets shown.
He just doesn’t want it.
He’s good at padding his stats to keep getting paid
stat padding for a putrid team
He's been doing good. I think we've forgotten that players need a couple of years to develop. No matter how good you start it'll still be a few years before you're at top of your game.
Ayton is the second coming of mark blount- doesn't give a FFFFF about the game
props to D.A. for saying the quiet part out loud: the current salary structure makes the second contract so massive & the pressure on the drafting team so high to pay out, that doing just enough to get the max then going to sleep is entirely rational.
Bro posted this then Ayton had 33 and 19💀
this is what i came for
Ayton saw the vid fr
The funny thing is that the day you posted this he just put up a stat line of 33 points and 19 rebounds......
DA has actually been turning it around a lot recently. Portland had no idea how to italics him at the start of the season, he never got passed the ball and the actions they did run for him were weird. The last month or two he’s been one of the blazers only bright spots
THATS WHAT I’m saying, weird time to make a video like this when DA is actually showing that he is the best player on Portland
Idk if you’ve ever gotten this before but ur like the basketball version of summoning salt and I very much mean that as a compliment
The only thing he dominated was the bench
And your mom
