I love the (Mormon) Tabernacle Choir, and I've had the joy of going to hear them practice as well as to the Spoken Word program/ concert. The choir consists of 300+ members and was given the nickname "America's Choir" by the late President Ronald Reagan.
I have never been more proud to be a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. This video is actually old. You need to watch our young children choir sing 'Gethsemane' a recent presentation from three weeks ago general conference. It is heavenly.
This is a beautiful choir, all volunteer. The perform weekly, along with the Orchestra at Temple square, on Sunday mornings at 9:30am mountain time. They just finished going on tour in the Southern United States, but have been on tour many times and many places. They also sing every six months at General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They just released their Christmas concert from last year and are performing this years in Salt Lake City, Utah (it will be released next December.)😊 So there are many opportunities to see them perform. It is always worth it! I hope someday you can see them perform in person. ❤
Those words are life reflections of John Newton, a slave trader who nearly died in a shipwreck, and who eventually became a minister. He penned the famous words of "Amazing Grace" for a sermon for his 1773 New Year's service at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul.
That sounds like it would make an interesting story. I have such a strong reaction to all stories of slavery, segregation and social hierarchies. Even more so since I have been reading 'Caste' by Isabel Wilkerson. Thanks for the info.
This linked video is my favorite version of Amazing Grace. It’s another choir of members of this church, this time in the church’s conference center with an awesome organ! I highly suggest headphones on this to hear the organ, especially during the big ending. th-cam.com/video/zVsUmRUlU_M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qKK1c2hEXFCbxTOF

That song by the children is literally a miracle on video.
My two favs that I love the tab choir singing "Come Thou Fount" & their performance with Sissell, "Slow Down." I agree, "Gethsemane," is so beautiful!

Thank you for your reaction to this! Please react to "Come Thou Fount of Every Blesing" sung by The Tabernacle Choir. It is soul shaking.
Beautiful!! We had the pleasure of seeing this choir live a couple of times when we lived in Utah. 😅
This is my favorite arrangement of this hymn. It was arranged by Mack Wilberg, the Tabernacle Choir’s director.
The choir is beautiful to listen to….I love ❤️ this on the bagpipes too.
Written by a Scottish seacaptain who sailed slave ships from Africa who changed and refused such cargo!

@@marklane58 Have you had a look at The Barbary Pirates & England's White Slaves?
@@PeterDay81 I haven't. If I can handle more historical tragedy I may take a look. I see it on YT, 'stomach churning'... Oh dear. Thanks.
