  • Wearing concealer on bare skin without applying foundation or any other base product is possible and easy to do. It evens out the skin tone and gives a fresh look.
    Tools you will need:
    Moisturiser
    1-2 Concealers (shades)
Optional: Face Powder and a Small Brush
Step 1: Moisturise your face well!
After you have washed/cleansed your face, apply a good moisturiser that suits your skin type and needs.
You can use your fingers to apply your favourite moisturiser to your face using gentle circular motions.
Once your skin is well-moisturised, it becomes ready for the next step.
Step 2: Apply concealer on bare skin
Some people might need only one concealer shade, while others might need 2. This depends on how even your skin colour is. Make sure to use the right shades to look natural. Please note that unevenness becomes clearly visible if the shades do not match.
You can use one skin-coloured concealer and the another one a bit lighter if you want to brighten your eye area.
Use the concealer to conceal the spots, redness, and areas that are a bit discoloured, such as under or top of the eyes. Use your finger to blend the concealer into the skin.
At the end of concealer application, your skin should look even.
Concealers come in different formulations, such as liquid, cream or powder. You can choose what’s best for you and your skin type.
Step 3: Optional - Set the concealer with face powder
Depending on your skin type and the concealer you have chosen, you need to set the concealer, especially around the eyes otherwise it will move around and crease.
Use a small eyeshadow or face brush and take just a bit of face powder to set the concealed areas. This makes sure that you can wear it all day long without a problem.

I’ve been going foundation free a lot lately. I’m lucky that I’ve never really struggled with blemishes, but I do have inherited dark circles which is where I use my concealer. I’ll sometimes apply a small amount of Hourglass’s Diffused Light finishing powder to my whole face. While it doesn’t do anything for coverage, it definitely gives a glow as well as sets my concealer.
    Thanks, girlie🍃🌸

Love to hear that Carrie!🥰Yeah, concealer can be really handy to only use it under the eyes and it just wakens up everything! So that powder isn't really a matte one right?

      @carriemroczkowski9409 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Melissa Van Dijk No, not at all. It works beautifully for my dry skin. It’s illuminating without sparkles or glitter. I know it’s expensive but feel that it really is worth it. I actually purchased the Hourglass 4 face palette which contains Diffused Light. Now they have the Ghost palette out which I would have purchased if I didn’t already have the 4. A good dupe is Milani’s Prep + Set + Glow Illuminating Face Powder which is only around $10:))

      Hey! :)
What's your skin type, and do you have texture skin/flaky skin or not?
It's important to start with the right skincare products (if needed) to make sure that you will have a smoother skin texture yet also hydrated skin before moving on to your makeup. This helps to make it as flawless as possible.
To answer your question about the concealer, it won't show up in the picture if you pick the right/closest shade possible and blend it well. Also, make sure that when setting your concealer with a powder, use a non-flash-back powder, which means use a powder with a hint of color that matches your skin tone. For example, white Setting Powder can flashback, which you can test when using a bit of the powder and apply it to a smaller area and take a picture with your flash on.

Hi, I don’t like applying a full face of makeup only mascara and a bit of foundation to cover up my hyperpigmentation spots. I’ve recently started looking into concealers and want to purchase one for my dark circles and hyperpigmentation spots, but I’m not sure which one is best for my skin type. I have sensitive, acne-prone, oily skin. Are there any particular concealers you know about that won’t clog pores or cause breakouts? I also don’t know what shade I am:(( Should I go a shade lighter or the same as my foundation? I love your videos btw, the information you provide us with is extremely helpful!!!🥰❤️

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey :)
For your face and eyes, I recommend looking for a concealer that matches your skin tone so that you only can use it in certain areas, and you won't notice the difference!
And/or for your eyes, you can go with a shade lighter than your skin tone to brighten the area, but if the shade is too light (too obvious), then it can look strange as well since you are only using it on specific areas. Also, blending it a bit further into your skin tone helps avoid creating a line where you can see that your concealer stops and your skin tone start.
Since you have an oily skin type, I recommend setting your concealer with a bit of powder.
It's difficult to say what shade you should pick based on answering it in a comment.🙈
So far, I like Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer a lot! Or concealers from Bobbi Brown, or Kryolan...:)
Makeup won't clog your pores if you take your makeup off and wash your face correctly with a good makeup removing products and/or cleansers :)

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet

I don't. I just apply it and then blend it evenly and then set it if needed :)

If you're using a very creamy concealer, then yes - let the spots you've applied set up for a minute or two before you start spreading it around. Use a brush.

@@aamorJJ As I've mentioned, for me - the Catrice Concealer is great! but if you want a specific shade for your under eye area - the Kryolan Dermocolor Camouflage cream foundation - which can also be use for concealer is amazing because they have so many different shades available. I use the shade D2W which has a bit of a pink/peach tone in it to cancel out the darker area under my eye. Hey :)
Do you usually have dry skin? If so, do you use a moisturiser before applying the concealer? If that won't solve the problem, I recommend looking for a different concealer since that one has a thicker "drier" texture :)
