This reminds me of the old minecraft animations from like 2013. So simple, funny, and clever. Like element animation of slamacow. It's nice to see this style has not been totally eradicated by the adpocalypse or content farms. Keep it that way, please, if you can. I loved animations like this.
What did you use to animate? How did you put your light sources into the scene? I only know how to work with Blender, but maybe you can use my advice for your animation software. The weird square-looking shadows look like there's a lot of light sources close to each other instead of one light point. Possibly the entire lantern is one large light-emitting object, which would explain the weird shadows, because every pixel on the object would cause a new shadow in slightly another spot. The solution could be to decrease the glow of the lantern itself, so it just looks bright, but doesn't really cause light and shadow. Then you could put another light right on top of the lantern, which then would emmit a light that only causes one shadow. Ideally, that light would be inside the lantern, but without quite complicated transparency adjustments, the light would just get blocked by the lantern. Placing the light source on top of it should be close enough to achieve the best result.
I'm currently using Mine-imator, the thing is that I just make something to make the lanterns look like they are glowing but at the same time not emit any light, then I put a light source which is only one, I have no idea why it makes these bad shadows
@@Mayerhero Does the light source itself have any size you could turn close to 0? I also looked up a tutorial on Mine-imator and found someone explaining, that shadows get sharper the smaller the light source size gets, so I'm pretty sure that's the problem you're facing.
@@kygigni I made the light source big enough so it can somewhat match the realistic lighting of the lanterns, I guess it might have been at a large size (which is light range) that it made alot of shadows
@@Mayerhero These are two different things. The brightness or range of the light is another thing than the size of the light source itself. You can decrease the size of the light source while still keeping the same range, but with a sharper shadow, as you want. Messing with the range of the light isn't required. In real life not the entire lantern is glowing, but only a small part inside of it, making the actual lantern close to a spotlight as well. You can see weird shadows being created in real life if you have bigger light sources, that's the reason why shadows are blurry in real life sometimes if you move any small object like your fingers close to a light bulb. Making the light source as tiny as possible would really solve all of your issues. If you don't get what I exactly mean, there are tutorials that show everything quite well in my opinion.
