You saved my life! I have bought two of these machines in the past few years and have been learning to see. Somehow I always mess the timing up and it cost me so much money I was started to feel defeated! This corrected my current problem! Thank You!
Thank you very much your videos although the video I watch before this one, (How to adjust thread tension), solved my issue this video probably would have saved my other machine which I can no longer find parts for. I am sewing a seat cushion using automotive vinyl and having trouble sewing thru 4 & 4 layers of the fabric.
This is great! I have a 775 model and beleive my timing is off because the needle keeps hitting the mechanisms that spin. I am going to try this. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing! Wondering about testing with the zigzag stitches to verify better? I forget, though seems that or the needle bar lever and cam adjustment maybe is more related to that now that I think about. Mine has the pulley gear on the top shaft of the belt loose as found.
Wow, I just set 758 timing and got super hyped stimulated it's way off and I was pessimistically paranoid perplexed until I watched the Randy Your Sewing Machine Man YT channel video showing about. HHHmmm... I'll super double check watch the belt again and again... though I didn't look at the gear box beveled gears good for the hook and maybe I'm missing something else with the needle bar cam timing issues I can't envision that wasn't noted that might logically effect the timing maybe??? Well, next up to check out the beveled gears and see if I notice anything anywhere else changing the timing each revolution of the handwheel. Man! Wow, that got me stoked and worried since my prongs are all uneven depth at the plug and not in the correct place. COVID, Type 3 Parainfluenza (I had this summer and definitely can be bad mentally and way more most don't worry about or test for or have a vaccine for) or something else going on? Anyways, thanks for sharing.
Thank you i wil try this. I think my needle bar is off as well. My needle bottoms out and catches hook pushing it to the side. The timing marks ore visible when needle all the way down.
Excellent video, I have this problem with my machine, does a hand wheel that’s binding have anything to do with the timing? I can turn my hand wheel towards me and it gets very tight and can’t be turned anymore….Thank you Jan
Thank you! It's really helpful! I've got the same model, and the hook-needle timing is definitely off. I would like to ask one more question please: I see the metal feed dog in your machine. In my machine it's still an original rubber and it's worn out. I would like to replace it with the metal part. Where could I get the metal feed dog?
I have a touch n sew 648. can you show me how to set the timing on it? the bars that you show having two set screw on it, mine only has one on the right and one on the left. thanks!
Hi, I just purchased that machine from a Thrift Store for $30 last week. I downloaded the manual. I followed every word. I tried threading the bobbin, but the needle broke. Do you have any ideas. I followed every direction. Thanks in advance.
I learned a lot (I learned what a catch point is, and I learned that the back of the needle has a concave section), but I'm confused about when the feed dog timing notches marks on the two gears are supposed to align. The gears move, and these marks pass each other.
Another eureka moment. Learned that the feed dogs need to be moving in the *downward* direction when the needle is moving *downwards*, and vice versa. I ran into trouble when I replaced the old rubber feed dog. When I was adjusting the gears to make the feed dogs flush with the top of needle plate on each downstroke or upstroke (as the needle enters or exits the fabric) I had accidentally set the timing exactly opposite (so that the dog was moving up when the needle was going down. argh. This doesn't work!) Now, everything works perfectly. No tension issues, no breaking thread.
Is the timing responsible for my stitches not being straight? there is a pattern to it. Every so many stitches is on an angle. I have a 603. Been sewing on it since 1964ish. Mom always had it serviced. Mom is gone this year. I can service. Would like to learn more about it.
Are you certain that the stitch width lever is all the way to the left? Here is a link to the operating manual: www.manualslib.com/products/Singer-Touch-And-Sew-603-4059739.html
Why did you not set the timing on the needle shaft first? There are two marks on the shaft. One for bottom and the second for the hook. 9 out of 10 times, the needle shaft was the problem when I used to do them.
@@allamccamey4695 Top mark is exact bottom of shaft movement. Adjust with screw on side of shaft. Second mark is when the hook should be center of the needle in center setting. Must adjust needle hook from bottom on hook shaft set screw.
@@KevinCoop1 as for now - no issues. I've fixed the timing successfully. The only problem left - the original rubber feed dog has got deteriorated, so it does not feed the fabric.
Sir i m not able to adjust the feeding dog and the needle strikes on the feed dog plz help me. I changed the gear and was unable to adjust the feed dog timing. Plz help me

Thank you for sharing the video. It will save me from having to take the machine in to a dealer. Saving time, money and learning a new skill.
I've made it! It's my first timing repair ever! Thank you very much!
Really nice and covers things other videos left out. Thanks for posting

What does this do exactly? My bobbin and thread keep catching and don't go through any fabric. Do you have any clue why it's doing this?
Mines doing the same thing.
nice👌
Is this machine the 640? Thanks for the video!
The little white tab used to fill a bobbin doesn’t work. Any ideas?
Thanks!
