    My son in University was sprouting forth Socialistic ideas. I laughed when he started working. Then he became a Capitalist. Smaller , less control governments are needed. I wish that AI took the jobs away from Politicians. The world would become a better place soon. Maggie Thatcher's comment that Socialism works until you run out of tax payers money is so correct. Government doesn't have money... it has tax payers' money !!

      @Victoria-Enzula Why is it that people risked their lives to escape from communistic countries and no -one was trying to get in ( unless they were spies !)
      But economics is like religion Difficult to alter someones zealous opinion and a waste of time to try.
      Instead of being jealous of successful people, try and copy what they do...(there will always be richer people than others, but look at the community as a guide.....
      ..everyone (except politicians and cadres) in SA is/are getting poorer as our money devalues due to following the incorrect financial policies. When government borrows and prints money it leads to inflation and you need more money to buy basics. If you don't have a job (like me as a retiree) you will soon feel the pinch and get worried.
      Zimbabwe pensions are not enough for a weeks food in SA. That is why so many Zimbabweans try to work here and send money back to their family...

    It’s clear that this person has a bias when discussing economic systems. They seem to suggest that capitalism is superior to socialism. Why not give viewers a balanced look at both capitalism and socialism, discussing their pros and cons? And if you’re bringing up examples, consider Cuba, N. Korea e.t.c. All those countries he mentioned are faced by Western sanctions from the U.S., affecting their economy. You might also talk about China, which operates with a mix of socialism and market elements. Avoid pushing one-sided narratives-socialism hasn’t really been given a fair chance to succeed in many cases.

      Well, given that socialist policies (government regulation, minimum wage laws, excessive taxation, manipulation of the money supply, border policy) have been the entire *CAUSE* of the unemployed and homeless (and no one is starving under capitalism)m perhaps the better question is how socialism has failed them. What idiot gave you the impression that capitalism yields anything like you suggest? Capitalism has been solely responsible for the massive improvement in worker pay, working conditions and prosperity (including the effective end of starvation, child labor and poverty as it was understood as recently as a century and a half ago) that has taken place over the last three centuries. In the US, where capitalism was more greatly adopted for perhaps the longest period, real compensation has increased steadily and substantially in a trend dating all the way back to the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. Americans are among the highets paid workers on the planet and poverty has fallen to record lows. The poorest 20% of Americans live better than the middle class of Europe. We have more disposable income, better healthcare (the debunked mythology notwithstanding), If you think socialism (or unions) was responsible for any of this you are aggressively ignorant of economics, history and reality. The poverty =y rate n the US (ticked up under Biden's more socialist policies) is 11.1# do nearly 90% of people are *NOT* poor. And the US has the highest [poverty threshold on the planet. Using the levels in other countries, it's in many cass, nonexistent.

    Firstly socialism is not the same as communism.
    Secondly capitalism is only great if u are one of the privileged. Want to argue... just look at the USA. Arguably the wealthiest nation on the planet. Plagued by homelessness and its healthcare system is the most expensive with poor outcomes. The education system isn't much better. Then look at Finland, a socialist country (not communist) it has 24hr childcare, one of the best education systems in the world, and a good healthcare system. 😮

    • @FletchforFreedom
      @FletchforFreedom 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, look at the USA. Capitalism has been solely and co0mplertely responsible for the massive improvement in worker pay, working conditions and prosperity that has taken place over the last three centuries. Far from being "plagued by homelessness" it was near historic lows before the current administration threw open the border (and that a number of European countries don't report figures doesn't mean it isn't a problem there). The fairy tale that the healthcare system in the US yields "poor outcomes: has always been pure BS (if you are diagnosed with a serious illness you'd best pray you have access to US healthcare). And the socialist interventions is what have made it so expensive (debunked nonsense about medical bankruptcies notwithstanding). The socialized public school system has been a disaster but the quality of the more market-driven higher education system is the envy of the world, Still, Americans are among the highest paid workers in the world, have a higher standard of living (far higher than Finland), the "poor" in the US live comparable to the middle class in Finland and have far more living space. This isn't rose colored glasses. There are numerous problems in the US but they are in every case, the result of government (socialist) action, not capitalism.

The top 10 countries are mainly countries where capitalism is the dominant economic system, BUT they are highly regulated and have HUGE social agenda's. SO, a combination clearly seems to be the better option. I agree NZ is a nanny state, but Rob's whine about reg's to open a padle court . . . really! Capitalism is the exercise of the powers of ownership over the means of production, including capital, privately - period - in short, the free market. Socialists like to pretend that state economic action can be capitalist rather than socialist for example so that they can blame the problems in hybrid economies on capitalism. The fact is that there does not exist an example of capitalist failure or socialist success at any time in all of human history - not one.,

State economic action is, by definition, socialism. Corporatism is all too common; regulatory capture; boneheaded government intervention (like the minimum wage), etc. central bank created boom-and-bust cycles - all socialism. Take for instance the middle class' real sadness globally of an inability to buy a house. Perhaps tax needs to be revisited and off course it can only work if there is some global compact. Revisiting progressive tax rates can only work if there are broad principle agreement. Perhaps a start would be to consider if tax havens are benefiting broader society. The point about reducing red tape is incredibly important; thank you for raising that and many other excellent points. I would like to see a discussion on viewing capitalism as more dynamic and if there is real results in closing the wealth gap, socialism may lose one of it's main popular arguments. In conclusion, thank you for calling a spade a spade - the truth is always the foundation to find freedom.

      Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Rarely have I seen a parody of leftist ineptitude! Careful though. There are people who are actually so unimaginably disconnected from reality that they actually believe that and fail to grasp either the real world conditions as they existed in those countries or even point to the minimal reporting (or llack therof) of homeless and poverty figures as if they were at all credible. The actual data, readily available (and even referencing the manipulated official figures from behind the Iron Curtain) tell the exact opposite story.
      Of course, in order to do such a brilliant parody, you had to already know that.

Sadly, there are far too many leftists who point to the minimal reporting (or lack thereof) from such countries as if the=y were representative of reality and actually believe that. Socialised losses and privatised gains (e.g. bank bailouts), externalities, and the corporations' prioritization of the profit motive at the expense of the health of the public and environment (crisis of the commons). These are the things that make me sceptical about capitalism. China has shown itself to be more successful at price deflation, i.e. passing the benefits on to individuals via lower prices, than the capitalist countries who use monopolies, cartels, tariffs and other "pricing power" strategies to keep prices elevated. One could argue that Trump is for non-competitive behaviour when slapping tariffs on cheap imports, but it's understandable that he want's to protect U.S. jobs. There are two sides to every argument, and one man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter, so when I hear one-sided arguments like this, I raise an eyebrow. A.I. and robotics will probably make these discussions irrelevant in the coming years anyway.

    I would not consider myself a pure capitalist but I am a free market supporter, or in other words an anti-communist. A free market necessarily implies that concepts like equality only apply to the few aspects of society where they make the most practical sense, such as before the law. Applied anywhere else and they become a burden of inefficiency that does nothing but drag the country down. Futhermore, any system of authority that discourages free speech is by its nature incapable of self-improvement. If citizens cannot point out where a government is failing, how is it supposed to know where to utilise resources most optimally? Most importantly, however, any authority that dissuades free speech also dissuades creativity and innovation, which are the lifeblood of entrepreneurship.
