    More people need to learn that being critical of someone's emotional reaction to something DURING that emotional reaction is only ever going to start a fight.

    • @jamster251
      @jamster251 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Dude, we all know it, but we are also in our own emotional reaction where pointing that out seems like 'I'm right so now you can stop being angry' kinda thing to say. :p
      'Don't be dumb!' We're all trying. :)

    • @Untitled_Unknown
      @Untitled_Unknown 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Refer to the last persons response, as well as it’s not other people’s job to handle your emotions well. If you are loud and angry, and SCREAMING in someone’s face, and expect them to not get angry back or yell back, I’m sorry but you have a couple screws loose. You CAN’T control your emotions, but you CAN control your reaction to those emotions. You have the choice to get loud and aggressive or to handle the situation like an adult and be calm and have a discussion about it. And someone HAVING AN EMOTIONAL REACTION IS THAT PERSON STARTING A FIGHT, NOT THE PERSON WHO REACTED TO THEIR EMOTIONAL REACTIONS

    • @Untitled_Unknown

      @N Mussellthat’s not yelling. It’s using capital letters to place emphasis on a words and sentences. There was nothing emotional about what I said at all, I wasn’t an angry, or upset, just stating an opinion with emphasis bud.

    • @irontusk5027
      @irontusk5027 2 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      You know why the police took the kid? Because the person was being negligent to their child which is illegal. They didn't take the kid because they had a nightmare; the lady left an 8 year old at home without a parent or legal guardian. At this point calling the cops is probably the best outcome for the child, because kids left by themselves can easily injure or end up 6 feet under with just a light socket. If you think that because the OP was there it's safe, remember the story took place at 2 am when they had already been asleep.

    So I've been in a similar situation as first OP. I was staying with my BF (who was 24 and childfree, I also dislike children myself) and my BF's roommate was dating this girl with a kid. She would leave the kid on the couch while they screwed in roommates room. The kid would scream for her mom at night. And I mean scream. My initial reaction was to go out and hold the child while she calmed down. It was not to lock myself in the room and call the police (although we did separately call the cps because the mom was all together neglectful and abusive).

Who knows how long this was going on before OP was conceived! And the Grandma STILL blames her! God it suck to be a sexual abuse victim. People always find ways to blame you for it. And she blames herself too, for falling victim to someone who was supposed to protect and guide her for who knows how long! I was thinking that too, but without more context it's hard to say how much blame (for lack of a better word) she could still be considered to have. He's abusive for sure just by going after a 19-year-old, but that's also more than old enough to know better and be held accountable for your decisions. She was a very young adult but she wasn't a child, she shouldn't necessarily be made to suffer for this mistake the rest of her life but it is still worth acknowledging that a mistake was made.

    • @Dragonemperess
      @Dragonemperess 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@TheSquareOnes Yeah, at least she wasn't 12-15 like I feared, and normally a 19 year old should somewhat know better (then again, we live in a world full of Darwin Awards candidates) but like you said, we don't know what was going on behind the scenes. I guess I can't comprehend why he would follow through with his own daughter (bio or adopted doesn't matter to me). That's a hard nope in my book and never being alone around them. Also, therapy for them as well.

      If you have faith in police to handle that type of situation normally then that's one thing, but police are universally shit and will fuck things up somehow and make most situations more dangerous. The outcome of the parent not being able to get their kid back is a reasonable expectation, and you are potentially creating massive issues for a single parent.

At this point if someone wants to clean we give a 10 minute warning to the other (given we each have the free time) and then clean together. It’s much easier to clean if you have a little bit of a buffer time to prepare

    If the angry cleaning situation was reversed omg the opinions would be the exact opposite. They both came home from grocery shopping and he had to put them away alone, she got mad about a mess she made and the groceries were only a small part of it, she got angry and was slamming cabinets and such. If all of that was reversed and the man did it they'd literally call him and abusive wall punching child. They both had a bad day and were exhausted, why was he made to put groceries away alone? It's always a family job in my house.

      This is what I thought. Not even in a trying to be mean way, but if someone's first response to a crying kid that they know banging on their door, is to lock themselves in the bathroom and call the police, that is just a mentally not right response to the situation. Either they are paranoid out of their mind, or they are unable to process any kind of situation where they need to be an adult.

    With the 36 yo dad in this one, and the camera dad in the previous one, the position seems a little dissonant. Like, he has to let the kid live there but also how dare you continue to feel the responsibility to parent them.

  • @BrownEyedPrincess1
    @BrownEyedPrincess1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am 32 and I’d probably have the same reaction as the 22 yr old. I don’t interact with children so I would have no idea how to handle that situation and I don’t feel obligated to risk my life for a random kid I barely know. I guess I’m an asshole lol

    • @renegadeprism42

    • @BrownEyedPrincess1
      @BrownEyedPrincess1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@renegadeprism42 yes I said as much. That’s why I enjoy never having to interact with children unless it’s my nieces or nephews and lucky for me they are all adorable and well-behaved and don’t have parents that leave them alone at night.

    • @mantasr
      @mantasr 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're not. This is a hundred percent on the mother leaving the kid alone.
      Of course calling the police is stupid, unless they are living in Juarez Mexico or whatever and threats in the middle of the night are realistic.
      But you're not in charge of taking care of other people's children.
      Would this mother and her daughter come to the aid of the girl? Or would they save themselves?

  • @danjackson1016

  • @MrVovansim
    @MrVovansim 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    For the first story, with the screaming kid, I think the OP is an asshole for not even trying to figure out what's wrong. However, where was the landlord in all this? Was he home? And if so, did he also lock himself in his room with his kids? Wtf?
