Pscan vehicle diagnostics tool product review and demonstration on a Rover Mini Cooper MPI

  • This is a product review of the pscan vehicle diagnostics tool. Pscan is a PC-based tool to read error codes and live data parameters from engine, ABS and airbag ECUs fitted to Rover, MG and Land Rover cars. It is designed to give dealer level access for supported vehicles.
    I demonstrate this by connecting to the ECU on my Rover Mini MPI. I programme a new immobiliser fob and link a new ECU to the immobiliser. I also compare it to the T300 tool which I have used in previous videos.
    Pscan can be bought from the following link: pscan.uk/index.html
    You can see me using my T300 tool on this video: • How to connect the T30...
    You can see me dealing with my ECU problems on this video: • Why wont my Rover Mini...

    You can also log live data to a spreadsheet file on your harddrive. This is very useful solving intermittent faults. You start logging and then drive the car until the glitch happens, and then you can load the file in Excel or Libreoffice and see if you can find a sensor that causes the glitch. There is more information here

    I'm a Volkswagen mechanic so have used VCDS for years but just bought myself a Rover 25 as a daily driver, looked up rover diagnostic software and came across pscan. Great video I'll be purchasing one now!

    Nice review, have been looking at various options for my MPI and this looks very user friendly, like the way you can hook up to a laptop screen for better visuals

      Hi. I used windows 10 and had no problems at all detecting the usb. Could it possibly be an antivirus or firewall issue? The best person to speak to is Phillip who created the tool info@pscan.uk

    I have just acquired a 1996 MGF vvc car as well as the Pscan. After you select the petrol engine witch tap is for the MGF? Is everything else the same for the ECU, key fobs, and such? I have new fobs I want to program. Thanks for the video.

    • @BlakesDen
      @BlakesDen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From memory the MGF is MEMS 2 the same as the mini so the process is exactly the same. Your best option is to check on the t-bar forum where there is a dedicated PScan support thread.

      @@BlakesDen I did stumble around in the menus until I found one the worked. For now the biggest reason for the pscan was to program new key fobs. It worked! I now have 4, two new, working fobs. I will now order 2 more for my Son's F as only one came with his car.
      I now need to search around in the pscan for that secret pin code the own's handbook talks about. Any hints? Thanks for the reply.

      Great work! My mini only had to be fob, having a spare is very useful.
      The secret code should be on the read EKA menu

    Pscan support for Spi?

    • @BlakesDen
      @BlakesDen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I believe that it does but will require a different cable to the one shown in the video.

    • @philip_christian
      @philip_christian 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. The SPI has a pair of three pin round connectors; one is for the MEMS and the other for the 5AS. You can buy an extra cable with pscan and it will work with both ECUs.
