  • Hi all. In this video I make a start on my Thomson Mini Glen caravan. I decided to strip out the interior to see what work needs to be done on the caravan frame. I then power washed the exterior to make it look less like it had been dragged out of a hedge!

Hi, many years ago I had great success cleaning a filthy caravan that had stood with Flash of all things. Came up a treat followed by a good quality Automotive Polish.

Thanks. I was going to try something like that before investing in anything too expensive

@@BlakesDen the window stays will need a good soaking in wd40 or similar, there are spring loaded tabs that ratchet into the holes you used.. to release open all the way and they tuck away. Fairly reliable butbget full of spider webs and stick with age

@@Mickhanic-garage thanks for the advice. I'll take a closer look at them and see if they are saveable. Hopefully they aren't full of spiders!

For cleaning the outside try oxalic acid, you can buy it in powder form. Wear ppe

Thanks, I'll check it out. I will probably end up repainting it but I still want it to look nicer whilst I'm working on it 🙂

G101, leave it on for 5 min or so then a bit of a scrub with a decent brush! Worked in gettin lichen off mine and for water stains a bit of jif/cif cream!

Infinity Wax Citrus Prewash will soften up the moss and grime.

The insulation looks like normal fibreglass rather than asbestos, which would be good news as asbestos would need to be disposed of as hazardous waste, which is horrendously expensive. Fibreglass still needs to be handled carefully and a mask is recommended as well as skin protection if it is an irritant to you, as it is to me. Best wishes.

Thanks. Yes I did some research after filming and concluded that it was mineral wool. Still best to assume it is asbestos as it is nasty stuff.
