I’ve never made a propagation box before, but this makes me want to try it! I know I’ve seen people root leafless nodes in them before, so you might try throwing those in too and see what happens
@@wildfern yes! I propagate leafless nodes all the time! Sometimes I even take off the leaf to save room. I was like “nooo!” When I saw u tossing those top cuttings from the Monstera and Philo. Brazil.. lol Cant wait to see your update🤗 I love Prop. Boxes!💚
For me when my adansonii was putting out runners and no leaves, it turned out to be because she was really root bound and wasn’t getting enough nutrients from the soil. She started living her best life after I repotted her ❤️

I started one last week I couldn't get my hands on plain spag I had to use a spag\pete mixture but everything is doing freaking amazing it's so exciting watching everything root. The leaf on my addinsonia rotted in the box &I was gonna throw him away when I noticed a new growth point! So he lives to see another day. I also have pothos & hoya in the box & the pothos even opened a new leaf. 🌿💚

Great video! Sorry to hear about your life but all thing happen for a reason. If you’re having a lot of rot sometimes oddly enough tea light candle wax on the cuts can really help prevent rot. 🙂

I haven't tried adding vermiculite to the mix, but I've heard really great things about it! I haven't felt the need to, since just perlite works well for me.

The monstera adasonii is looking for something to climb on. That is what they want to do when they just hang with no trellis and the place gets darker as they grow. The begonia tamaya needs to be staked if you want it to grow straight.

Your monstera adansonii is so beautiful! I bought one a few weeks ago and there were only a few left, so the remaining ones all looked pretty unhealthy. I bought one anyways. I'm hoping mine will get lush and green like yours over time!
I'm going to start a Box after watching this, I do most of my propagations in shot glasses in the kitchen window :) Just started on Spag bags and moss. One thing to watch I think is to keep the leafs off the sides of the box to stop them getting too wet x
Oh also I've propagated begonias before and I just take a cutting and I leave about a half inch of stem and put it in wet soil and I've always had them root for me!
monstera adansonii use runners to look for trees to climb in the wild, if you steak it up on a miss poll it’s leaves will get bigger and the space between the nodes will get much shorter! i love your channel, thanks for putting out content even when you might not be feeling up to it 🥺💕
I need to cut back my monstera. I’ve taken 2 already. It still needs another trim but I can’t bring myself to do it. It started giving me new leaves when I took the last cuttings.

Your adansonii isn't putting on leaves because it needs a support to climb on 😊 It strives with something to climb on rather than being a hanging plant. You can do a diy sphegna moss tutor with a pvc tube and a metal grill (sorry I'm French so I don't know how it's called in English).
I'm pretty new to plants & I just can't bring myself to cut my Hoya crimson queen. It only has 2 vines [I bought it as a baby in a 2 inch pot] but it's grown so much! But yeah... just thinking about cutting her makes me nervous too.

My calethea got spider mites and ended up looking about the same as yours. I kept it and it’s almost back to as healthy and full as before the mites. Now I check for spider mites every time I water it, and it’s so happy 😃

I think moss is good because it offers moisture but also a lot of air to the roots because of the spaces between the pieces of moss.

Would you recommend using a mix of perlite and perlite/vermiculite at all? What is the difference please?
I haven't tried adding vermiculite to the mix, but I've heard really great things about it! I haven't felt the need to, since just perlite works well for me.

I leave them on but try to open them once a day for air exchange! x

My calethea got spider mites and ended up looking about the same as yours. I kept it and it’s almost back to as healthy and full as before the mites. Now I check for spider mites every time I water it, and it’s so happy 😃
