The Playacar area is known for its upmarket residential villas, all-inclusive resorts, and luxury golf club. The clear waters and white sand of its namesake beach draw a mix of locals and visitors for kitesurfing, snorkeling, swimming, and sunbathing. Iguanas scamper over the Xaman-Ha ruins, a cluster of crumbling stone buildings used by the Maya until the 16th century.

Seasonal. Every year the seaweed comes and goes.
We are coming in March 2022 for 10 days. We've been traveling here since 1997. This will be our 8th time to Playacar area. We love the Mayan Riviera so much , Yes the seaweed is bad at times , but it never spoils our holiday. We come for the people and the food and always enjoy our time. Can't wait to return. Our first trip during Covid. Our heart is always with Playa!

All of the blue chairs are owned by RIU. RIU Palace would be around the group of 7-8 people sitting in a circle right after the houses of Playacar come to end.
Thanks for sharing these. It makes me nostalgic as I walked around the same paths you have been broadcasting here. Keep us informed on the Sargasso sea weed situation especially with the "colder season" coming on. Beach erosion seems to be better in most part!

Yes its seasonal but storms can bring it in and take it out randomly sometimes

I have been in Rivera Maya many times but this time for some reason I just didn't enjoyed it like before
Wow what a beautiful area and wow the sea grass is quite amazing this year...is this the most they have had? I have been reading of the amount the military have been clearing out of the water quite incredible...as always great walk...Viv

Playacar is pretty bad at the moment. We just walked Playa Del Carmen again and the seaweed is getting better.
