- Despite it arguably ruining Black Ops Cold War, it looks like Treyarch is making the same mistake with streaks & counter play in Gulf War. These are leaks are are subject to change, but I think its definitely worthy of discussion

All you had to do is call in your own air patrol to counter their air patrol. Didn't really have a problem that way and you can get it fast again if you keep streaking. It only sucks if more than one person is running the patrol then it's a problem unless your team mate also calls one in to counter. This is remedied by playing in a group.

The worst decision will be adding SBMM. The matchmaking is worse than any bad gameplay decision they can make

It died for me after BO2. OG Warzone was lit but then that died, so now im out again.
They won't add powerful high streaks. It goes against Activision's "protect the casual players at all costs" model.
I’m just hoping the streaks atleast reset after you died instead of keeping the progress intact even after your death. Also I hope they atleast balance air patrol or replace it with something else less powerful like the SAM turret

Snipers Nest???? It was way overpowered in BO4. Barely anyone shot it down, and I'd get minimum 10 kills with it 99% of the time.
100% spot on. Make streaks powerful again. Make them tough to get but tougher to counter.
Back in MW2 the only way you shot something down was with a stinger or javelin. Air patrols and 1 LMG magazine should not counter a double digit kill streak 🤦🏻♂️
Having the Air Patrol cost more is an improvement, but not having it at all would be ideal
On Black Ops 3 if you got your wraith & R.A.P.S. that was a free 20-30. There was nothing they could do
You never shot down a Uav w/ a bling M4?
LMG’s have always been able to take out streaks with the right perk. Hardened Pro let you nuke down UAVs and even choppers with the right weapons. Though in games like BO1 this was much more balanced as using hardened pro meant giving up sleight of hand or steady aim which made you more vulnerable when playing aggressively.

Even running a sentry gun is useless in MWIII because the second you put it up, someone spawns behind it and destroys it without it ever even getting a hit marker.

Run AC130, it’s more difficult to get, but no one can shoot it down with guns and all the flares keep ppl from even caring to shoot it down. My go to in MW3

Agreed. Zombies is technically part of the campaign universe now or at least an alternate version of it with weaver and Sam having a father and daughter relationship. Hopefully Sam is an operator in Gulf War as well. I really can’t wait for Gulf War just for the campaign and zombies alone. Hell even Richthofen may get his own operator pack.

Unpopular opinion, but one of the things cod ghosts got right was the support package killstreaks, you can have your looping streaks that don't reset but they're all support style streaks and the air patrol/superiority was tied to that.

Counters are what made the game strategic, makes your team have to actually communicate on who's running what.

Exactly. Me and my buddy ran the air patrol and strafe run and either a gunship or vtol. We would drop strafe run, wait for the enemy air patrol sonic boom then call ours in. Wait out the strafe run then my buddy calls his in, wait again for enemy air patrols before we call in our last one and finally we call in our vtols or gunships. Most satisfying cod killstreaks in a long time.
fun fact, as a person who grinded cold war for 3 year, if you also have an airpatrol it cancels the enemy air patrol and your streak is safe.
Yeah I did actually like how that worked, I remember I called in my harp and an enemy called in there air patrol so I called in mine and then the enemy called in there’s and then my teammate called in his lol, it was just going back and fourth.

I’m somewhat of a newer player. I didn’t grow up with the game that much(thanks sheltering, helicopter parents) but I maybe played 20 games of cod across all modes until I was 17 and out of my parents house. That’s when I got Cold War, and really, REALLY got into cod. Mind you I wasn’t really any good till mw2022, so my perspective is as such: I agree high kill streaks should be more powerful than they are today but it sounds like you want them to be damn near unstoppable. Even in newer titles it’s been infuriating going against someone who no life’s the game all day, saves up a VTOL and chopper gunner and kills the entire enemy team before they can even move. For both sides too, like when it’s someone on your team you can’t get any xp because no one can leave spawn, and when you’re on the enemy team you essentially can’t move and the game ends before you can do anything about it. I know you were exaggerating to make your point about how little health big streaks have nowadays but even now in MW3 half the time I feel like I’m the only one shooting them down despite constantly pinging the thing. It just kills the game and makes me feel like I wasted a whole match. Again, yes, buff big streaks but too much and people will just quit matches when someone calls in their sacred chopper gunner or AC130 or whatever the hell
7:57, I can agree with this if the streaks are lethal streaks, but support streaks can work where the progress doesn’t reset upon death and aren’t usually lethal, but just help your team, I wish they could bring strike packages like MW3 and ghosts
I'm a high streak guy so that bs they did in cold war ruined the game for me. If they do it again I'm going to be disappointed

Thats why you had to have your own Air Patrol. Put your streaks up. Then when they call in Air Patrol you counter it with your Air Patrol lol.

They did that same shit in BO4 when they added Zero to the game. She could just run around and destroy all your stuff with her EMP grenade or hack your killstreaks. Always hated that.
You do know that if you called in your air patrol immediately after they called in theirs, your air patrol would nullify theirs and your original strong kill streak would remain.
One of the big problems I've seen is that given how powerful anti-streak ammo is, there is no reason to run launchers (aside from the Stormender, but that is for UAVs and Cruise Missiles). Since most streaks can't be taken down by your launcher's starting ammo (since to destroy a lethal streak it takes one rocket on the flare, plus two more rockets, more for AC-130), you can't take down a streak in one life. Also factoring locking on, firing, reloading, and then locking on to fire again, it is so much easier just to shoot it down with a gun. Now of course that is going to be a coordinated effort for the enemy team that vaporizes your hard earned streak within 3 seconds of it being called in, because on your team nobody bothers to shoot at the darn thing and it just wrecks you and all the numbnuts on your side. I do feel that streaks should be powerful, but I also feel that launchers should also be far more effective in shooting down streaks than bullets. That after all is the trade off of not having a pistol and having very limited ammo.
The air patrol was always my biggest complaint. I never used a streak you had to man yourself as I wanted to be ready to use my air patrol to counter enemy air patrols.
Luckily the bombing/strafe run streak was powerful.

I only go between the uav, predator missile, vtol jet, and advanced uav.
I do enjoy messing with the lower costing juggernaut in SnD and the Wally drone as well. Super strong streaks on certain maps.
This was the issue i had with Black Ops 4, The Sniper Nest took 5 hits with the sniper, especially when 3 or 4 people ran it i had no choice but to run it every time
You could just snipe the snipers out of it and that's only two shots
6:41 helpful tip Nero. When selecting your killstreak you can actually set the killstreak to score streak by pressing L2. You will see confirmation on the bottom left of the menu. Once enabled you get your killstreaks better
What do you think about having op kill streaks earned by kill streak and other less than streaks by score?
One of the big problems now is that you can swap your class around at any time. So you dont need a dedicated class for taking down streaks, you can just change your primary to a premade streak melting LMG in the time it takes for a killcam to finish. So everyone can laser a high tier streak and instantly blow it up, they should try an LTM that only launchers can blow up lethal air streaks higher than the mosquito drone.
I liked how CoD ghosts did it. They had a separate “support” streak system. You could choose between Support, regular killstreaks, or the specialist bonus. The support streaks were weaker and mostly passive, but didn’t reset upon death. I thought it was a nice trade-off. Maybe it wasn’t perfectly balanced but I love the idea of options.

Cold War was my last cod. I’m happy I quit then. Happy to keep seeing you play cod, even tho I don’t care for it no more it’s still something nice to hear about what’s going on.

I miss when streaks would just keep going and not a cap on them once you get them. BO4 was the last good decent COD you could get your streaks over and over again with out dying to start over 😢
So true about today's score/kill-streaks. In the current CoD I'm running UAV, Cluster mine and Sentry Gun. The Stormender pretty much renders VTOLs and Attack Helicopters (pretty much any air attack streak) useless.
Cod needs a reboot. Enough said. These devs need to rethink their design flaws and make things better.
You’re right about air patrol, if one team has it and the other doesn’t, they don’t need rocket launchers or Sam turrets for opposing air streaks, but if it’s two teams with air patrols, they have to pop it at the same time to protect and prevent each others air streaks from being destroyed so they change their classes and switch to rocket launchers or Sam turrets. So if one team has it, high streaks aren’t shit, if two teams have it simultaneously, it’s useless, which makes the gameplay shittier.
Have an option for streaks that carry over from death but balanced or score streaks. Anything to avoid the campers waiting to earn one and avoiding the objectives

Look at the *location* of the HARP. It’s *near the very end* once again showing that they don’t want you to pop off! They want to *protect* noobs because heaven forbid you get your HARP in the middle of the list to help you dominate with the higher streaks!

I Cold War I use to dominate tdm lobbies. Harp and VTOL were right next to eachother In score. I use to run them together. So I would pop harp for my teammmates, drop a supply drop for my teammates than use my vtol to cause havoc….. can’t do anything like that in new cods.
@@toptiertech7291 no the harp is like the orbital VSAT or Blackbird. Can’t shoot it down. Constantly showed direction of enemies and location on the mini map.
@@protoman2260 yeah. That’s always been near the end. The blackbird in BO1 was the 3rd to last kill streak. It was one less than a chopper then there was dogs. Your comment made it seem like the old cods put it in the middle or something
Hot take: Air Patrols were a good concept, but the cost made it too accessible for the utility it brought. If they made it something in the league of H.A.R.P's cost it would be much more popular for taking out proper big ticket streaks, to make those less powerful while making mid-cost and ground streaks more incentives to run. This allows people to still feel proud about getting good streaks while not making everyone get bullied too hard by high streaks.
To fix the same problems, however, they could just make it a player-controlled lock-on launcher (similar to the "cigma 2" launcher in CW) that one-shots most to all air streaks, and has a large blast radius on the ground; this would give you the choice of using it to take out a camper, annihilate a capture point OR take out that annoying attack helicopter.
I always run care packages so I don’t get so bummed if it gets shot down. You get a lot of good streaks from them. Lots of bomb drones too. Sometimes I’ll run emergency airdrop as well

All im going to sat, is thanks to the hand cannon and air strike, I was 3 kills of my first nuke. And I've never gotten that close again
I'm convinced I'm one of the few that love the air patrol.
It can counter itself, and due to the fact that it feels like my teammates like to feed the enemies streaks every game... I kind of have to run Air Patrol. It's not really my fault that the enemy gets gunships, chopper gunners, attack choppers, and harps 24/7 when I'm triple positive. I just save an air patrol so that when they air patrol my streaks, i air patrol their air patrol to save my streaks, and even if they have another air patrol, there's a bit of a cooldown so I do still get some of my HARP at least, rather then none.
Air patrolling the air patrol has been a super annoying necessity in Cold War lmao. Still love the game though, been grinding it since launch and I can't stand the IW / Sledgehammer titles
In my experience most of the time as soon as someone gets a big streak,ppl just leave the lobby. Players who cheat also use these streaks to even more annoy other players. Then you're left with 3 teammates. Some of the streaks are cluster mines...throw that into a small map and see how fast above average players leave the lobby. It is,what it is. Streaks,mostly just work when you get one of those easy lobbies;then you're punished for a week. The biggest issue is,players can feel the rigged system going against them. The longer you give the algos time to Q you into a game the longer it has to increase the chances of doing what it wants to do.
Hoping for the best with Gulf War. If they mess it up it will be a real shame! 🙏🏽
There was a nuke killstreak in cold war, also air patrol was a problem because of how easy you could earn it. There was always EMP, but it was expensive

Oh yes in CW i was the person that held onto my Air Patrol for high streaks.
With Activision protecting noobs, streaks are no longer viable. At least put in MW3 (2011) style specialist. COD will never be great again even if they bring back all the golden era stuff, as long as strict sbmm/eomm is involved

I hate killstreaks in objective modes. To win those, you need to cap (flags, zoness). You kill only to prevent THEM from capping.
Apart from the kill stream system and lack of tradition prestige Cold War should go down as one most fun cod game for many years

Powerful streaks for sure. They've nerfed even the usually decent ones like cruise missile to the ground. Airstrikes have been so inaccurate/useless that I dont use them anymore. They take too long to deploy, and since I play HC, they end up just targeting my teammates instead of enemies even if you place it in the enemy area. I end up just running stuff I can place down to cover a lane/alert. That way I can at least get a kill with them. I went so many games not getting kills with them, I just stopped using killstreaks. In MwIII, I then just activated uav, cluster mine, and sentry turrent. Way more helpful in OBJ modes anyway.
I speak for the whole community in saying we should NOT bring the snipers nest back

I think the only reason the killstreaks were the way they were was to compensate for the OP SBMM
The air patrol was only necessary because streaks didn't reset on death in cold war. The streaks would have blotted out the sun the second half of the match if it didn't exist. Give us back black hat and streaks resetting on death and I would be glad to see it gone.
The Air Patrol and killstreaks not resetting on death were the only things I despised during Cold War. Killstreaks not resetting meant that everyone would get their streaks eventually, defeating the purpose of the word "streak". But the Air Patrol was objectively the best killstreak in the game as the ultimate uno reverse card and made every single aerial streak that was worth more points than it completely useless. I also hope that this doesn't happen again for Gulf War
I didn’t mind the kill streaks other than the air patrol in Cold War. I don’t mind the point streaks that don’t reset. It made the SBMM bearable.
OG MW2 and BO2 were the prime of COD. Best maps, guns, equipment, streaks, gameplay, everything. Those 2 games will always be the best and no game that comes out will ever be their equals because they were each others equals just from different studios

The air patrol is leaked at 2400 score score. It looks like it's on the top end.

Streaks not resetting helped stop people from camping. It made them have to get out and start putting up score.
I like the mw3 streak system it's pretty adequate , not the most fun but adequate you never really feel like your dominated by streaks which is nice as non sweat I am but the streaks feel useful enough and the more potential they have the easier they are to counter
But if I was to design my own streak system I would keep the toggle scorestreak/ kill streak system and the three streaks but have streak one and two be only support streaks , and the third streak be like a specialist weapon/ability with a high potency for kills or influence in the game but only when used right
With the current state of SBMM im ok with streaks being how they are....try carrying a team due to sbmm and you are just getting spammed by streaks

The scorestreaks were fine. Air Partrol just negated like 90% of them. If they’re gonna bring it back I’d say increase the cost of it by a lot. On the other hand, I don’t wanna be sitting for more than half the match waiting for 2+ attack helicopters to go away, so Air Patrol was fine to me
