Hell yeah, this video is where it's at! The only video showing this, and with a helluva east coast accent. I pulled my replacement for $37 - the guy at the yard told me that depending on what year of 'burb or 'hoe you have, the latch ball may be 3 or 4 mm, which could cause the latching issue, you gotta match 'em. Easy replacement with a wrench though. Thanks man!
Came across this video since some POS smashed my back window out. Yours was the only one i could find explaining how to do it. Seems pretty straight forward. My question is can you replace your rear liftgate/window with any year suburban/tahoe that is the same body style? I have a 93 suburban so can I pull the liftgate off say a 99 and have no issues?
Could you have taken the hinge apart rather than removing the entire hinge? Looks like there is a pin going through the hinge that may just slide out. I ask because I want to replace my weatherstripping that runs along the top of the hatch opening. I won't be actually replacing the lift gate, just removing it enough the remove/replace the weatherstripping.
Hi I wonder if you ever changed the weather strip you spoke off? I'm trying to replace the same one on my 98 suburban the top one. I can't seem to find it anywhere new. If you changed it did u buy it new? Maybe dealer only part or did u get it at a junk yard?. Any info will be appreciated
That's the ONLY practical way to do it. A bit fiddly to remove the pins, but utterly simple to slip back in. And odds are there will be be NO need for realignment.

any chance you have a part number or know where you can find replacement of the weather strip that goes around the window portion?? Thanks
LMC truck has it
How do you realign the lock?
How do you do it?
Remove the hinge pins instead of the bolts and the chances are very high that you won't have to realign anything.

Yes the hinge will come apart easy

4 bolts super easy better than pins

That's strange I never seen a 1999 suburban hatch door. Usually they're double barn doors
Mine was 35.00 at junkyard in Jacksonville ..complete
Good video. I could make a killing though , I picked my replacement up at the junkyard in Las Vegas for $40 😲😲
