In Sonic 3 and Knuckles, if you press up and the jump button, you make Tails fly.
If you jump into his hands at that time, you can have him grab you and fly for about 10 seconds

Just a heads up: You can use tails to carry you in Mania and the Origins versions of the classic games, not the originals.

In Sonc 3 and Knuckles, press up and jump to make Tails jump and fly manually.

You should do how fast you can collect 100 rings in each game
Here's a trick use a 2nd player controller so that tails is playable and he can fly with him
Could have skipped all the S1 loops with spin dashes (and drop dashes in Origins) and all the loops in every other Classic game by flying over them as Tails. Also there was a line of rings above the tree next to CD's loop, there probably was a spring in there you could have used, or time traveled in hopes of changing the level design to your favor.
