No. Absolutely not. A loss and USA silver medal is the best thing. Not a gold medal. Oh. USA won. USA ladies were resilent. So they will do everything the same. Nothing will be changed. They still use their DEI selection committee to select players. And they still use an incompetent head coach. However, the world has caught up with them. USWNT losed the world cup badly. They made changes. They employed a new no-nonsense head coach in the name of Emma Hayes. They get rid of old guards i.e. no Rapinoe no Alex Morgan. And USWNT won the Olympics gold medal. They need the World Cup failure to force a change. Same for teamUSA women basketball team.

For years, their closest competition has been the international equivalent of a cyo league for 8 yr old girls. They've won 9 golds now I think. The attack on CC's college career began when she was drafted. You know, she got all those points on 18 year old girls, etc. Sorta strange how especially the veteran players basically threw women's college basketball under the bus to marginalize CC's achievements.

As a former coach of a womens sport ( admittedly at a much lower level , and a much more obscure sport ) - water polo , there is no doubt that tired out , short sighted and selfish personalities missed what will be the best opportunity to advance their sport ( and other womens sports ) in my lifetime for sure ( I'm 62 ) and probably further.
Shame on the US Women's basketball program.
Shame , and you have hurt your future and your sport.
I am sad for the great women athletes on the US team that performed well even when the fan turnout that was the result of the organizational bad decisions was poor.
Yes they won the Gold Medal ( by the skins of their teeth ) , but when they bite it in future they will find it hollow.
Here's to Caitlin Clark , Angel Reese and Arike Ogumbawale ripping up the second half of
the WNBA season. I hope they continue to light it up.
This level of opportunity to grow a sport on a global level will not occur again for a long , long time.
I am sad for all the young girls out there who were denied an opportunity because of
selfish , jealous old players , coaches and administrators.
You can pull the blinders off now - but it's too late , the horse is already in the barn.

It will be interesting to see if over the next four years during the off season if CC or any of the other rookie stars go and get some international playing experience in European leagues like other WNBA players do. The rookie class made lots of money from NIL deals in college and they are getting big endorsement money, and next season when they are off of the rookie salary cap they won’t have any financial incentive to play overseas. I guess that time will tell which players are putting in investments for 2028 National Team selection.

It's a similar story that has happened in many sports with Jordan, Tiger Woods, Ronda Rousey, Michael Phelps etc... People didn't wake up one day and suddenly have an interest in swimming.
