      “They almost lost” you say.Well, Clark’s Fever HAVE lost more than they’ve won. But I guess you’re o.k. with that. The bottom line is that you’re pissed because the U.S. proved that they didn’t need Clark to win. You, like many others, were praying for the U.S. to lose so you guys could spew more “Clark BS”. Almost losing isn’t the same as winning the gold medal - they also crushed every other game. That’s the exact reason DT was on team over Clark, she’s leader from the bench but there was place for another guard to get playing time. The team was built on dominant forward 3 with 2 great defensive guards who can make plays. Clark is a pure scorer who turns over the call and is a defensive liability. She also had no overseas experience vs everyone else on the team

    People acting like she couldn't have replaced any of the guards they took. All you have to do is look at the stats. She is the league leader in assists and will destroy the record. She leads the league in "points accounted for". She has the only trip[e double in the W this season. she's in the top 20 in every major category. That's out of 144 players. Top 5 in 3 pts-made. Leads all Guards in rebounds, blocks, tied in steals. All guards! 13th in scoring, 13th drebs, 19th total rebs, 15th in blocks. This talk about that she isn't one on the best players in the league is ridiculous and devoid of any facts. Saying all that, I'm glad she got rest instead. now she might tear thru the league , setting or extending even more WNBA records. Not only ROY, but she'll also finish top 3 in the MVP voting.

    • @FurtherReview
      @FurtherReview 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd say the U.S. Olympic Team's guards looked pretty miserable in the 4th quarter of the gold medal game against France's tight defense. The turnovers tell the story -- 19 for the U.S., 14 for France. If not for a foot on the line, the gold medal game would have gone into OT, and that could have been a disaster.

    • @tv19463
      @tv19463 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting way to present stats - avoided the head to heads vs USA guards….Jackie Young, Plum, Lloyd and Sabrina all ahead of Clark in PPG. All 3 have better fg % and 3 pt %. Young is 5 pts better than Clark on FG %. Young is lockdown defender, Clark is opposite. Clark also has 3x more turnovers than these guards. A’ja Wilson scoring efficiency 3x that of Clark.

    • @jamesbrigham1299
      @jamesbrigham1299 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tv19463 All those people are ahead in points, but they are offensively one dimension. they give you points but no assists and no rebounds. Clark gives you all three. The ESPN stats are easy to review. High usage point guards have high turnovers. Especially real PGs. Lebron is great, but he has high turnovers, because the ball is in his hands the most. Like all PGs and only you haters and Skip Bayless look at turnovers and not assist to turnover ratios as a negative. But I'd rather give up occasional turnovers, instead of the boring play, which was the hallmark of the pre-Clark WNBA. There are only 4 players in the top 50 scoring leaders with higher FT%. So instead of just looking at efficiency. How about, how many go in for 3-pt? She's number 5 out of 144. We also don't hold it against Steph for not being a "lockdown defender", which he is not. Because if you're a facilitator/playmaker/scorer, you just have to play adequate defense. Even with turnovers, she still accounts for more points than any other player. she accounts for the highest percentage of points for her team than EVERY other player. Face it, the real stats back me up.Clark should finish 2nd in the MVP voting by seasons end. Expect another triple double in this last stretch.

    • @tv19463
      @tv19463 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Clark net assists after turnovers is 2-3, which is still worse than all the guards picked. But I think you’re hitting the nail on the head - Clark needs the ball / be center of the offense (like AI) but the Olympic team is built around the forward 3 with Wilson being by far the most dominant female player in the world. Plum and Ionescu still have more total 3s.
      Caitlin Clark will win rookie of the year but she’s not in MVP Convo, though I do appreciate you’re not claiming Clark is better than Wilson. I think if she puts on some muscle, gets experience overseas, brings up passing efficiency (she’s most talented passer but bring down TOs) she’ll be lock for MVP and Olympic gold in the future

    • @tv19463
      @tv19463 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jamesbrigham1299 also Wilson has much higher % of points for her team.
      Again your point is right about her defense not needing to be great, but there are better scorers on Olympic team and guards on that team needed to be the best role players, not the top 4 overall guards in the league, zhixh clark arguably is (though many would disagree on statistics basis)

  • @iamjacquesbarjon
    @iamjacquesbarjon 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Caitlin Clark absolutely could and should have made the team from her play (ignoring all of the marketing/media benefits that would have come from having her on the team). Cheryl Reeve and the selection committee absolutely blew it.
    CC is the best point guard/passer in the league right now. Them winning the gold medal does not vindicate snubbing her from the roster at all. No one ever said that not including Caitlin on the team would cost them the gold medal. Hell, the WNBA All-Stars and the 13th-24th best girls probably could have won a gold medal (just look at the All-Star game). All anyone ever wanted was to select the 12 best players and Cheryl Reeve and USWBB just took all the old players and snubbed all of the young, talented, and exciting players (see Angel Reese, Arike Ogunbowale, etc.). Cheryl Reeve needs to be fired today for her team selection, her comments dismissing Caitlin, and her rotations throughout the tournament.
    The only true point guard that they selected was Chelsea Gray who is old and injured (Sabrina Ionescu plays 2-guard for the Liberty). Chelsea Gray has only played 12 games this year in the WNBA and she's averaging 7pts, 5asts, and shooting a career low 39% from the field. She should not have made the team. Period. You could tell Reeve didn't want to play her either because she started the game but only played 13 minutes. When have you ever seen a starting point guard only play 13 minutes?
    All of the conversation was about Diana Taurasi stinking up the joint but Chelsea Gray was even worse. No one with half a basketball brain can tell me that Caitlin Clark wouldn't have been better than Chelsea Gray in that tournament. If you're defending that, you're either an idiot or a CC hater.

    • @FurtherReview
      @FurtherReview 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Right, the U.S. team committed 19 turnovers to France's 14, and far too many came in the 4th quarter, when the French actually outscored them. Meanwhile, Caitlin zinged 10 assists against the U.S. Olympic Team to help her WNBA All-Stars defeat them. Anyone who thinks CC couldn't have helped the Olympic team more than Taurasi and Gray deserves their own show on Comedy Central.

    Proves to me they didn’t send their best. You had an injured player who was suppose to be a point guard couldn’t even run. You had a veteran player who just wanted a 6th gold metal who sat the bench the last two games…..scoring only 4 points the entire tournament. Two open spots you could have had healthy players participate. No one said without Caitlin the team would of lost. The point was USA team point guard is injured and can’t run, who didn’t even play during the regular season in the WNBA, and I bet after this break she still doesn’t play. Having Reese and Clark sure as hell wouldn’t have hurt. Yes, USA won the game. But it sure wasn’t a convincing win with the supposedly best players they told us they had. I sure hope this shakes up the Olympic Committee, politics be damned. And if I was Taurasi I sure would be embarrassed to come home with a medal for sitting the bench taking up a spot. We need some fresh young players.

      The players on the team earned it? Check the players stats this year. Check who were injured. Facts don't lie. Many of the players in the team were sentimental picks. WNBA all-stars beating them hands down showed how weak the USA team was. Winning by one point when previous teams where winning by 20 in the gold medal game just emphasizes this. Does anyone really believe that CC could have affected the ratings in any way? It is still women's basketball being played at the same time as every other sport.
    One more point about the razor thin finish, Team France started early and put a real team together. Team USA waited until the break and put a mish mash group of all stars together. The players didn't know each other or even their coach. In hockey, Canada tried playing against the Soviets under similar circumstances. In general, ragtag groups will always struggle against real teams.

    The USA womens team didn't need to be vindicated about anything. CC didn't deserve it, wasn't ready, & she'll have plenty opportunities if/when she is.
    If anything, an argument can be made for Ogunbowale, Ogwumike, or Carter being there because u can give then the ball and say "u carry the scoring load." Clark isn't a certified bucket getter. No disrespect.

    Clark was not needed people need to stop, all she would have done is throw up three's and turn the ball over. USA women won, give this a rest. Soon Clark will be picked to save the world. 🤦‍♂️

    This is pure nonsense. CC didn't merit being on the team. Second this idea that CC would help to grow the sport if she were on the team is also nonsense. CC basketball notoriety happened in college. People in Europe don't watch America college sports much less women's college basketball. I bet the average person in Europe wouldn't know who CC is! This ridiculous notion that Because CC is popular in America she's popular globally is pure American arrogance! If winning 8 🥇 medals in a row doesn't help to grow women's basketball. Nothing will including CC!

      I disagree. I don't know any WNBA players except Griner because of being arrested. Yet I'm watching now because of CC. Did u know that the USA women players were being asked CC questions? Did u know about the Japanese fan who had a CC telling them they needed CC?
      I'm from Asia and a lot of people from my country are just waiting for CC merchandise to be shipped here. She's very popular.

      Do you wanna plan on watch women’s college basketball? That’s a lie into they played a women’s professionals more than we play on women’s professionals more so they definitely watching the game. This was the Olympic other countries watch besides America. They average 30 million viewers. They didn’t need Cc when you got other countries.

      I'm happy to know that you're a CC fan. But the Average European doesn't watch American college sports especially women's basketball. So to assume her popularity in America makes her equally popular globally is absurd.

    How would she have lit up the world if she played and she’s not even lighting up the WNBA Angel Reese has better numbers in her right now. Kaitlyn Clark is not one of the best players in the league and the best players are supposed to be an Olympic team, also France had a whole year to prepare for the Olympics because none of those players played in the WNBA last season. They all stayed home to get ready for the Olympics and it still didn’t work because USA still beat them. The referees were not USA friendly as well.
