- The legendary soldier and the phantom thief meet for the first time. How does Snake handle the ever silent Joker? What will become of their interaction? And what will their contrasting ideals stir between them? Chances are you'll never see it coming.
With the inclusion of Joker in Smash Bros Ultimate, this codec call was one of the most requested here on the channel. It's very interesting looking at the contrasting nature of these two characters. I had a lot of fun trying something new with this one. I hope you enjoy Joker meets Solid Snake.

Snake and/or Big Boss have always struck me as the type to be good with kids when not on active duty. For crying out loud, Snake was basically a surrogate dad to Sunny after she got rescued.
Kira-Vera's interpretation of him in the Smash comics portrays it best; when he's not actively trying to complete a mission, Solid Snake is just... David. Just a guy.

Anime Problem I personally think that’s the problem with the Phantom Thieves, though their goals are benevolent at nature; it can be easily misinterpreted as a preachy, since they enforce their personal justice even if others don’t agree to it and where my morals stand that’s pretty wrong in its own right.
The views for freedom depends on the individual, change is good, but it’s a thing that needs to be eased not forced.

Its interesting, in hindsight, how similar Snake and Joker are actually.
Quite the opposite, Joker thinks we all need to live in a free society and to do that we need to open the eyes of the people while Snake thinks that people are already free and that they chose their lives to be that way, the two people aren't similar at all, Joker thinks that Snake is a slave to the government and that he is a slave to destiny, I mean sure soldiers might be under the control of the government but to Snake soldiers freely chose to protect their country and their people hence why Snake told him to face reality because in reality these people aren't slaves at all, they chose to do this out of their own accord and if some of them are forced to be a slave or to work for someone else then Joker should prioritize those people because Joker seems to generalize the entirety of the population as enslaved by a higher power, at least in this video its giving me that kind of vibe, I'm just stating my opinion since I feel like they are total opposites.

@@ImmaLittlePip to be honest, while the character for smash is supposedly Solid Snake, based on his outfits, design, and what hes using on the field.. he always felt more like Big Boss to me. A guy who sees his fellow man, and also sees how they are used by the public and government, doing his best to give people raised in war, a way to stay sane and continue the combat life they had always known. "soldiers Without Borders." However that desire got super twisted by higher powers, making those soldiers Big Boss wanted to protect, slaves in a whole other way. Those troopers were later freed by Old Snake /AKA solid Snake. Both Snakes saw how soldiers were being used, and did thier best to free their comrades. Just like Joker does his best to Make the world better by stealing the hearts of the corrupt. While in different levels of the spectrum, they essentially are doing the same thing, stealing away the influence of those above, in order to free their fellows and the common man. Joker, no... REN.. is as much of a soldier as David is, they just use different fields of battle. They may look like monsters.. but there is no doubt that Ren's hands are as Dirty to a degree, as David's own.
To further solidify the common thread, in the case of Big boss at least, Both Joker and Big Boss can capture and recruit people from the ranks of their enemies, to further their own power and personal army. Ren may share only passing similarities to David, but if you put Big Boss in the picture.. then Joker and Snake become VERY similar people.
In the end, both men just want to help the world become a better place. Or at the very least, make it look better abit.

Honestly for me, I couldn't tell the difference between Joker and Snake at first, I had to rewatch it once I realized Joker started talking.

@Creative Gaming It’s probably mainly a matter of how it will affect really young impressionable kids. They can’t get their hands on c4 or rocket launchers, but they could possibly get their hands on their mom’s handgun or their dad’s hunting rifle, y’know?

I do have an issue with assuming that Joker is just some "edgy anarchist". While I liked this, it also didn't really fit Joker himself and is really giving non-P5 fans a bad impression of his character.
Also Joker doesn't actually need a reality check as he and Snake's realities are very much so different and the opponent's they've fought are also quite different as well. Joker's not talking out his ass, he's talking based on all his experiences (and buying time for Futaba) from his game in which, in his world, what he said sort of rings true. Both Joker and Snake are pretty similar. Both are fighting for the same things, just act it out in different ways.
Not really a reality check as much as it is an alternate perspective based on a different situation.
Joker is in a situation where the system is broken, and needs to be rebelled against, where as Snake is trying to preserve a situation where the system, while imperfect, is necessary to protect people from chaos and tyranny.
Although, yes, Joker does sound like quite the edge lord out of context.

Not really facts and logic; just countered Joker's ideology with his own.
And he didn't destroy it, either. Both ideologies are equally viable.
The issue here is that with the dialogue we are left to believe that Joker had nothing else to say when he could have, not to mention that this Joker was played to be an anarchist when Joker's ideals are not like that. That's my issue, it heavily displays Joker in a super negative light.

I love how Joker criticized the purpose and life of Snake, but then Snake countered it arguing that Joker was in reality ''escaping from a reality, a reality he fears''.
Adding then that fighting for an ideal is not exactly being an slave.
To be an slave, you must be forced to do a certain task, Snake, from what I know, wasn't forced to fight, to become a soldier, he selected that way, which is a different concept.
Keep it up!.
Joker is basically saying that soldiers are slaves and would never know true freedom.
Snake countered that by saying the he choose to do that and fight for a better tomorrow just like Big Boss. So he sacrificed his "freedom" for everyone else to retain theirs.

This is so good, I like how snake was able to widen joker's perspective of what it can mean to be free as in his games he has shown to be able to tell people some deep stuff that can sometimes change the perspective of even the enemy.
