Channel Awesome Hello it’s me I am a recently subscribed fan and I just want to say that you are incredibly hilarious and I love your content keep up the good work also I’m here in the first 11 minutes of this being uploaded
Cosgrove: "I have reason to believe that the Freakazoid currently committing crimes in the city is, in fact, a clone." Reporter: "How do you know it's a clone." Cosgrove: "I asked him if he wanted to go to Spomoni Land...and he said no." Crowd: "CLONE!!!!!"
My boyfriend loves how Cosgrove brilliantly figured that out since Freakazoid is either super polite to Cosgrove if he has to refuse, or totally goes with it.
I thought the joke would be. Reporter and public: How do you know? Cosgrove: Cause he's standing right next to me and my wallet is still stuck in my pants. I would've lost the pants by now.
Freakazoid - "How come you never got married?". Cosgrove - "Because I like meat to much". Freakazoid - "You could be married and still eat a lot of meat". Cosgrove - "..... I didn't know that". God this made me laugh so hard.
Paul Rugg, the voice actor of Freakazoid, has his own TH-cam channel and it’s the most wholesome thing on the platform. He’s the guy with the biting chihuahua saying “I pet my dog.”
Back when cartoons had balls, innuendos like wow chica bow wow, guns and smoking they actually used and jokes like Al Bundy going all out on fat people.
Ohh, Lord Bravery is always super real. That clip Critic showed a bit of...he needs picture of himself doing something heroic, so he gets that little boy to take the shot, only to turn around and find him running away. There are many different things people say in this situation, while raising their fist...but LB's just hit me as something unique and special "I'll find you!....."
I’m actually surprised Freakazoid never got a reboot, or even a live action movie adaption. As a kid this show was so unusual to me, but I loved sitting through it (I was the ONLY kid in class who knew this show existed). I would have LOVED it if they ended up satirizing DC superheroes. Also, Paul Rugg is cute (that personality and lovable jokester he has in him makes him so cute).
What's interesting is that Freakazoid would definitely have a bigger audience today. The meta, the bizarre, and the random are hallmarks of today's internet experience. Freakazoid could be a mascot of this generation's ironic sense of humor.
Meek Carton4 you say that, but it'd be hard to find a channel to put it on and just people like these who just found things funny, especially when it seems cartoons are now restricted or kinda forced to either appeal only to children or only adults. Inbetween is so rare i am sure i can count them on my fingers
ilopominecrafter, Cartoon Network? Their most hightly praised shows, like Adventure Time and Steven Universe, are apealling to both adults and kids. And their most popular show has literaly same appeal as Freakazoid has: superheroes that do random humour instead of being superheroes (but Freakazoid is actually good at it, unlike TTG).
One of the weirdest one shots on this show had to be the parody of Disney's "Gargoyles" Instead of gargoyles, there were lawn gnomes who basically got themselves cursed in the first place because they were a bunch of jerks and ticked off a viking whose brother just so happened to be a wizard.
From the time that episode first aired, until this very day, there is not a day that goes by that I don't have a laugh at the line "We stole man's fire and hid it in our pockets!" followed by "That was painful and dumb."
Freakazoid was such a vague memory in the back of my mind, I forgot about it until now. Nostalgia Critic really does remember it so we don't have to. This felt more like an interview than a review, but was interesting. I had no idea that so much of the first season was a rush job.
No, I was a kid in the 90's too when Freakazoid was on, just been so long since I had heard anything about it. Animaniacs, and other shows I still hear referenced a lot, but not so much Freakazoid.
Only he wasn’t trying to hurt anyone, he was just having fun. And trying to get a mint, or maybe build a go-cart, or sometimes even get the girl. “That was stupid, shallow, and based entirely on hormones. Works for me!” ^_^
My favorite part of the show, would be the one with the old superheroes telling and sharing stories at a cafe. While Freakazoid is serving their meals, he listens as one of them starts talking about the most daring adventure he had. Normally that would lead to a flashback, but instead it is over in less than 10 seconds. Freakazoid: "What did you do?" Old hero: "What could I do? I lit a match. He blew up. End of story."
Guilherme Briggs, the brazilian voice actor for Freakazoid, sair he wrote to Paul Rugg about if there was a third season coming, to which Paul replied "I'm sorry, but it seems like WB didn't get the joke"
"He's marching cross the nation so tune in to this station. Or else we'll be unemployed freakazoid."Those lyrics are golden and very true to say to kids at a young age
You have to be a special kind of dumb to mess up such a quote, jt always baffles me how people have so little brain power to not remember something correctly and then write it in the comments, cackling to themselves and being proud
To give you a sense of just how insane this show could get, there was a scene in one episode where Sharon Stone fights Princess Diana (yes, THAT Princess Diana) over who gets to bonk Freakazoid. I am NOT kidding! It is probably one of the most bizarre, uncomfortable, yet hilarious things I've seen in a kids' cartoon.
To this day I test all prospective friends by saying "Hey Freakazoid, I'm going for a snow cone. Wanna come?" and wait for the appropriate response. Additonally, every time I see a cat I think to myself "Kitty Kitty Kitty!"
When I hear a cat meowing plaintively, I often find myself "translating" his meows (a la the swishy cat-psychologist in "The Chip") with: "He says he's very sad."
I use "I found a bowl! Good for me!" when playing video games a lot. And, "You're an evil man!" And, "Don't let me fall into nothingness! I won't be happy there!" although that's hard to find places to squeeze in.
no. A current adult adaptation of Freakazoid would probably mean lots of racist, sexist, anti-vaccine, ignorant rants along with memes if they really want him to feel like the internet got downloaded into his brain. And I personally wouldn't want him tarnished with some of that stuff. I mean I guess they could avoid the less savory aspects but then why bother with adult swim? Or I guess they could comment on it being bad but then I feel like it would lose some of its surrealism? If you want that more power to you I guess?
Who says it needs to be modernized? Not everything needs a hard, dark, and gritty reboot either. All the minds behind it can come back and it can still be very much the same show, if thats not to your taste no one will make you watch it though.
I agree to an extent. I mean if the people who originally did got involved it could basiacly be the same show (if that's the case might as well try airing it on CN) but we've seen old creators come back but not even come close to capturing what it use to be. I'm just torn as it would be nice for it to come back (heck modernization or aiming for an older audince wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing) but I do worry if it did it would be modernized in an unflattering way. But I might just be paranoid.
Its fine to worry, and in some cases a more adult tone can improve a show's comeback, take Samurai Jack for example. But even if it sucks, theres still the original to enjoy, and nothing can take that away.
Why didn't you get married? I like meat too much. Well you can get married and still eat allot of meat. I had not thought of that. (This gets funnier as you get older and realize that eating meat was something else entirely)
TBoneTony my gramps lived in Ukraine aka the Soviet Union back then and because he only had the opportunity to eat meat on special events he now eats meat every day in Germany and my grandma who survived the famine is calling us almost every day asking us if we have enough food
TBoneTony ph my gosh yea! XD I really loved this show in my childhood, since we have animaniacs making it's return, i think freakazoid also deserves to come back too.
@@Endriu192 first of all I don’t even know what you were trying to say. Second of all my comment is quoting a dead meme from either video or somewhere else that doesn’t even back up your statement
Today, August 29, 2021, we lost the very wonderful Ed Asner A.K.A Sergeant Mike Cosgrove. Thank you for the wonderful times, Mr. Asner. We will never forget.
I LOVED this show when I was a kid, I'd watch Animaniacs and then eagerly await that week's episode of Freakazoid. Both are GREAT shows in my opinion, and I'm happy to see Freakazoid get more attention.
I remember watching Freakzoid when I was a kid. Every morning before school, I have a bowl of cereal and my mom would put on Cartoon Network (the old CN) and would watch every episode. Fun childhood 😁
Eddie Olshefski right there with you Bro! Watched by myself in my bedroom with a bowl of cap'n crunch. Didn't realize it back then, but I was amazed and in love with how different and mature the humor was for a kids show... Only watched on Saturday morning cartoon block for me though. Never caught syndication...
Old Cartoon Network? Like What A Cartoon? (Sorry, I don't live in the USA, I had a different program in my channel) Freakazoid belongs to What A Cartoon?
This was my favorite episode in a long while. All the episodes have been great, but the tone of this episode and the subject made me so happy. I had almost forgotten about freakazoid and, man, so many memories came flooding back. I loved this show so much. Thanks, everybody involved!

The Red Salamander adventure time. Regular show. Amazing Advendures of gumball. Chowder. Camp lazlo. Not exactly the same (obviously) but similar great in their own right
Fair enough. Understood. And it's a Spielberg product which came with a particular brand of insider, tongue in cheek sort of humor. I understand what u mean. Just like to acknowledge there are still great cartoons with distinct humor (though not nearly as many as the 90's era)
I saw a few of the episodes growing up and they were generally pretty good. The thing is there were a LOT of good shows on in the 90's for Saturday morning, even without cable we had 3 channels in my area that all aired cartoons at the same time. I tended to watch something else when Freakazoid was on. I only eventually caught a few episodes when it started to air reruns on weekday's after school. One thing you can't argue though is Freakazoid had one of the catchiest opening themes ever.
Smashing Pots Who says it has to be a remake? They could just as easily treat it as a continuation (ala Futurama) and it'd work because of the show's nature.
If you watch the first season you see they reuse animation to try and pad episodes, like Freakazoid playing the piano or the intros for the other side shows. It saves a minute here and there, and I'd also argue the animation ranges from "BEAUTIFUL" to "meh it's okay".
It’s the curse of Saturday morning. They couldn’t afford to use as good of studios as they did on Animaniacs and Tiny Toons. The quality of animation got worse onward with Pinky Elmyra and the Brain and Histeria. It gets sloppier and the draftsmanship gets clumsier.
A live action freakazoid film would be the perfect competition for Deadpool, too bad WB has it's head so far up it's ass to realize it. Shit they probably forgot that they own the character.
I saw that video and when he said voiceover work I had to look him up. I felt really dumb that I didn't recognize his voice when I learned it was the voice of Freakazoid x'D
Mmm, or Freakazoid and Deadpool being crossovered by Tim Hardaway on the cover of Pearl Jam's "10" as posed by Bo Derek in a eugoogoly by Derek Zoolander.
James Ramirez No, I'd be pretty excited about it. Now, if Marvel X-Men editors from the 90's were transported from the past to be editorial consultants, then I'd be pissed. Unless.. if the cast of Cheers got them drunk like they did to Woody's priest at his wedding, it could actually work.
Shouldn't have explained the "have a good time now" joke. It would've been funnier. Also there's a lack of mention of Candlejack being it one of the...

The following episode of Nostalgia Critic is brought to you be by Mrs. Ashley Huggbees of Fullers Earth, Arizona because we like saying the word "Huggbees" Go ahead, try it. Huggbees.
I remember loving this show as a kid for the 4th wall obliteration but without a doubt, it was unfortunately over my head at that age. I'm sure even now at 28, I won't get many of the references because it referenced adult jokes from the 90's on back. I didn't hit adulthood until the mid 2000's and wouldn't have paid as much attention to the world around me until only shortly before then. This said, I'd love to go back and watch the episodes because that show was a gem and its silliness played a massive part in my own weird humor, such as the little gags I had when playing with my stuffed animals and even now with my short stories :)
God I loved this show! It's zany, off-the-wall humor that practically demolished the fourth wall practically shaped my sense of humor! This show while being a beautiful mess behind the scenes actually somehow managed to predict the kind of humor that would become prevalent later with the internet. It's not that hard a stretch to say this show was ahead of it's time.
Really crossing my fingers for Megas XLR at some point in the future. When an old cartoon that had spoof parodies of (among many other priceless things) Captain Harlock imagined as if he where a casanova wannabe, and effing' _Bruce Campbell_ staring as the villain-of-the-day in not one, but _two_ episodes, you know it's an old gem worthy of a Nostalgia episode.
It's only now that I see so many of the inside jokes that I think the show is incredibly clever. I never watched really as a kid but a few times because I didn't get it and I couldn't follow even a vague story plot whereas in a show like animaniacs, the skits always had the basic plotline I could follow. Makes sense when they had so much time to figure it out though. Bravo for these talented people.
For some godforsaken reason, this was on at 6am (right after Caption Planet!) when I was a kid. I loved it so much I would literally stay up all night so I'd be awake to watch it. Did that for a whole summer before my mom made me stop because school. The fact that this was my absolute favorite show as a small, impressionable child says a lot about who I am today....

Alvin De Rama Just... Don't tell Mandy. She makes my inner child cry.
I'd love to see that recording session of Tim Curry

"They called me mad...insane...WENDELL!!!" That last being the worst possible insult. XD
I still quote Freakazoid on a regular basis. Mostly "Most people your age die. Why won't you?"
I use "I found a bowl! Good for me!" when playing video games a lot. And, "You're an evil man!" And, "Don't let me fall into nothingness! I won't be happy there!" although that's hard to find places to squeeze in.
Dork One nice to know u say that to old people all the time!
With all kinds of remakes, reboots, and adaptations, I would love Freakazoid making a return.
Jerricola
Why would you wish this television torture to return? It sucked.

Cool story bro. But what does it have to do with the gay joke?
TBoneTony
I do not think that was intended

I really loved this show in my childhood, since we have animaniacs making it's return, i think freakazoid also deserves to come back too.

Both are GREAT shows in my opinion, and I'm happy to see Freakazoid get more attention.
...in nostalgia critic
Jace Gem for non american viewers animaniacs had too obscure references
C 5 originally it was a Saturday morning cartoon on a Warner brothers channel. I never knew cartoon network picked it up.
Eddie Olshefski Fun childhood indeed.
I'm in the same group as you two. brothers in arms!
This was my favorite episode in a long while. All the episodes have been great, but the tone of this episode and the subject made me so happy. I had almost forgotten about freakazoid and, man, so many memories came flooding back. I loved this show so much. Thanks, everybody involved!

I miss these kind of wacky shows, Freakzoid, Animaniacs, Tiny toons, pinky and the brain
The Red Salamander adventure time. Regular show. Amazing Advendures of gumball. Chowder. Camp lazlo. Not exactly the same (obviously) but similar great in their own right
Boney4000 they aren't quite the same. There was this kind of high energy quick wackiness to these that are just so 90's.
Fair enough. Understood. And it's a Spielberg product which came with a particular brand of insider, tongue in cheek sort of humor. I understand what u mean. Just like to acknowledge there are still great cartoons with distinct humor (though not nearly as many as the 90's era)
That's all only Spielberg cartoons
Devin Short Heh yeah, they had a similar sense of humor, that I feel like I haven't seen replicated
*_Freakazoid: one of the underrated the Trinity 3 of Spielberg's 90's animated cartoons_*
*Dem BUTT WIPES* 😂😂😂
I've never actually watched Freakazoid which sounds like my kind of madness
Kinky Collars The Masochist Pony It's glorious. My favorite episode was The Island of Doctor Mysitco with Tim Curry. The best villain was Arms Akimbo.
Pickup Freakazoid. Trust me you will not regret it.
You're missing out, go watch it right now!! XD
give it a watch, for me, surprisingly, the humor still held up.
I have both seasons of this show on DVD.
*_THEY NEED TO BRING IT BACK!!!_*
Jackie McCann remakes always disappoint. I just love it for what it was
Jackie McCann they do!
Jackie McCann I agree also I have my one signed
Smashing Pots
Who says it has to be a remake? They could just as easily treat it as a continuation (ala Futurama) and it'd work because of the show's nature.
Kurt Angerdinger Actually I personally enjoyed DuckTales and think it’s pretty well made.
The fact that most of the original actors were in teen titans go for one episode, really made the show worth watching
I can't believe its been 20 years since this came out.
Freakazoid ? LOW BUDGET ? But the animations look silky smooth . Anyways though great video !
@@LeoMidori compared to anime today this cartoon was incredible

A live action freakazoid film would be the perfect competition for Deadpool, too bad WB has it's head so far up it's ass to realize it. Shit they probably forgot that they own the character.
Unfortunately, you're probably right. The WB never appreciated the zany, wacky, wonderfulness that was FREAKAZOID!
It's sad that all we got so far is a crossover with the Teen Titans Go
So Paul Rugg is the guy from that hilarious "petting my dog"-video...? I had no idea! :O

A freakazoid and Deadpool crossover needs to happen NOW!!!!
Never going to happen…unless you sign an agreement between WB and Disney to give the characters equal screen time.
Mmm, or Freakazoid and Deadpool being crossovered by Tim Hardaway on the cover of Pearl Jam's "10" as posed by Bo Derek in a eugoogoly by Derek Zoolander.
Are you mad!? Reality would implode if such meeting occurred!
James Ramirez No, I'd be pretty excited about it. Now, if Marvel X-Men editors from the 90's were transported from the past to be editorial consultants, then I'd be pissed. Unless.. if the cast of Cheers got them drunk like they did to Woody's priest at his wedding, it could actually work.
as played by Jerry Stiller's sitcom son in Seinfeld.
Is Paul the guy who pets his dog when he wants to relax after a hard day's work?

Exactly. I was too young, but I've watched it now, and I love it ^^
I was alive when this show was airing and I loved it as a kid. It was so funny. Feel bad for these teens today cuz they didn't live in the 90s.
It's like the Chowder of the 90s, but funny
I remember loving this show as a kid for the 4th wall obliteration but without a doubt, it was unfortunately over my head at that age. I'm sure even now at 28, I won't get many of the references because it referenced adult jokes from the 90's on back. I didn't hit adulthood until the mid 2000's and wouldn't have paid as much attention to the world around me until only shortly before then. This said, I'd love to go back and watch the episodes because that show was a gem and its silliness played a massive part in my own weird humor, such as the little gags I had when playing with my stuffed animals and even now with my short stories :)
I'm in the same boat. Definitely going to go ahead and give it a rewatch with an older set of eyes. I do know it was far ahead of its time.
Goku Black what’s even more incredible is the fact that the internet is the literal origin of freakazoid in the show
That poor Huntsman, I love how he's so raring to go fight crime and then there's nothing every time

My kids loved Megas XLR...and so did I! I thought it was great that they liked it, because that gave me an excuse to watch it too. :-)

Actually, come to think of it; why DOES the critic shave his head?
A) I refer you to his norm of the north review, and b)...he had hair?
Because he is basically bald and frankly it looks a bit pathetic when men cling onto the last bits of hair they have rather than shave it.
He lost it from the stress of watching those terrible films if you can even call them that
Male pattern baldness
So he could sell us butt wipes. In fact everything Doug did on youtube all this time was leading to this glorious moment in History. Butt wipes!
Guys like that remind me why I love creators. Nice and unbelievably imaginative.
Bravo for these talented people.
sakume I feel the exact same way! I used to watch this as a kid and now as an adult I feel I can appreciate the humor a lot more now xD
Look like Lex Luthor if he never moved out of his parent's basement? Jesse Eisenberg had hair though.
Jesse Eisenberg never played Lex Luther, he played The Joker with The Riddler shoved up his ass.
