What’s so beautiful about the kiss is how slow the scene is. Both of the characters are overwhelmed with emotions and instead of “jumping on each other” they take the time to process every single new sensation before allowing things to go further.
I especially love how 1) when Wilhelm grabs Simon’s shirt, they communicate through small head nods to clear the confusion, 2) then, when Wilhelm nervously brings his face closer to Simon’s, he has a small step back to reposition himself and you can feel how hyper aware of both of their bodies he is and 3) the BEAUTIFUL shot where they touch foreheads and they both “savor” the moment and familiarize themselves with such proximity.
You put it in words! That's exactly what was going through my mind when I watched this scene and made me like it so much!

I was definitely holding my breath too lmao I love how the show takes time to build tension!
This one episode alone is enough to blow every romance movie out of the water. I've never seen so many mixed emotions packed into a kiss scene before, and their acting is way too real. They can draw out a silent moment where no one moves for a solid minute and it still feels like every second counts.
"Rude!" Was my exact reaction to the end of episode 1 and episode 2. Hahaha
It was a good thing it was Netflix lol I would not have been ok waiting a week for the next episode

Just to piggyback off Love, Victor (and this show is very different in many ways - like episodes over 40 minutes) but the story being not just on Wilhelm but also pretty equally on Simon makes us feel for both of them. Simon's friends are pretty great. Sara is a really wonderful character and you will see more of Felice to appreciate. August is a complex character, we know that everyone has flaws and makes mistakes ... he sort of personifies that.
Really hope you get through the whole series without it being spoiled. You are so right that it is not predictable.
That last scene in this episode was beautiful (a bit rude cutting us off at cliff's edge but visualized gorgeously and so good at captivating us in their nervous tension like a held breath.)

Now watching these for some insight into this series. Having already seen it, wasn't sure why this show had such a strong reception. Seemed fairly typical teen show: angst, unneccesssry drama, drugs, etc. Your insights are helping me see its uniqueness. Thank you.
Hi! I'm happy my insights are giving you another outlook on things. I think the show got such a big response bc it played into the steroptypes of typical tennage drama shows and twisted them slightly... almost mocking them at times, to navigate the story they were trying to tell! Which is very complexed and deep, the director and creator of the show both disccused it in an interview with netflix, i think it could be interesting to watch if you still struggle to grasp the "why is this show different" for so many. That and the chemistry between the two leads, the intimacy scenes who were beautiful and well shot, the overall message at the end... It was just so well executed and different that it resonnated with a lot of people (me included) 😊

There were sooo many glances and looks between them... Wilhelm literally ran into his clothes and out to rowing practice when he saw Simon, they did homework (workies) together before August disturbed them... Wilhelm is just falling head over heels for this boy who doesn't fake or flatter
ahah...It was fun when you said you wouldn't like that they would have a secret relation because one is ashamed it. Ok now you know they had a secret relation ship. But not for the shame reason anyway. I feel this show is not a coming out theme, but more about how to live his life with behaving by duties not by what you want. So yes secret, but for "the royalty duty" reason. I don't feel any of them are ashamed of anything, they seem to not give a damn. But Wille is definitively anxious about the consequences of his choice on his royal
family : his duties.
Now that I see it again, I realize that the show talks a lot about mental health issues : anxiety with Wille, Addiction wit Simon dad, Asperger with Sara, depression with august (taking pills for energy when you are down all the time)....That is interesting. It goes well with the deepness of the scenarist writing touch, to dig into brains. But it is done without drama like in other show where it is central. Here they just say people live with it, and that is ok in a way to see that.
August is everywhere, true. Someone compiled all August intrusions in a video, it is kind of crazy. It is like he needs to find a room in people life or something.
The foot scene, yes was good. Like a fresh air for Wille, a taste of the freedom he doesn't have I guess.
Like for "the party date" in the episode 1, I like the touches and the awkwardness of the first kiss, when you don't know...authentic and emotional. I feel, now that I saw the whole story, that Wille hesitation in the kiss is more of a "I am not allowed to do that, I shouldn't but I really want to" reason, than from a sexual attraction hesitation reason. And I really appreciate your comment on he can feels something and not act on it, it is so true. People tend to be : if he doesn't then he is stupid....so great thoughtful reaction.

Yeah idk in my experience taking pills is not common. At least in the schools I’ve been in. Alcohol and smoking is more common tho.
