I love how Kurt was talking about asking David Geffen to buy Leadbelly's guitar for $500,000 for him, then the one he played HIS song on sold for 6 MILLION. Kurt, I think you surpassed your favorite performer.
I requested and received this album as a Christmas present in the winter of 1994. You just transported me back to that morning. My teenaged self sat next to the Christmas tree with this album playing for the first time in my Dad's home stereo system, and I was blown away.
"It might be nice to start playing acoustic guitars and be thought of as a singer and a songwriter, rather than a grunge rocker you know? Because then I might be able to take advantage of that when I’m older, and sit down on a chair and play acoustic guitar like Johnny Cash. And it wouldn't be a big joke” -Kurt, late summer 1993 Well, we loved it and would have loved much more of it. Sounds like a man looking forward to the future creatively to me.
To nirvana guitars: you inspired me to make a kurt guitar and i absolutely love your videos you make them so detailed down to the bone. your sounds are spot on and i love them!! If you are seeing this Thank you!
wow... I've been waiting for this since you bring the Stella to the channel, what a nice surprise for the 30th anniversary of Nirvana's Unplugged. Thanks bro, greetings from Brazil
This sounds better than I expected, although the Stella does have a weird low end, I vibe with it. Great video as always eric, definitely one of the best ways to celebrate such a great performance. Cheers
Thank you so much! I had to kind of scratch my head for a bit to think of a fun way to celebrate since I already have a tone and history video for Unplugged. Very happy to hear you enjoyed this one 😃
It would be awesome if you could take some of the Unplugged stems that are circulating on the internet, remove Kurt's guitar track and add your Stella to see how well the overall sound would have blended. I remember having at least a couple of Unplugged multitracks on a hard drive (Come As You Are and About A Girl for sure). Keep up the great work!!!
I just want to say I love your content and you’re a really unique and awesome channel, not to mention a great guitarist keep up the good work. Great covers btw
This guitar has nearly identical sound and tone as my first guitar. Was the cheapest new classic guitar I could find in the 90s. I learned all this Nirvana songs with it. Just brings back all the memories listening to you.
@@NirvanaGuitars NO WAYY YOU ACTUALLY RESPONDED!!! Nirvana guitars I js want to let you know you’ve inspired me to make my own unplugged guitar I asked my mom and dad and I’m gonna start getting parts for Christmas! It’s been in the works forever
really cool video as always! i gotta say, hearing where did you sleep last night was a little eerie, it sounds a lot like his home demo version! which makes sense. some of these songs just don't sound the same without that first string though 😅
I am new to this channel. Very entertaining! Love Nirvana and my favorite CD by them is Unplugged in NY. What a nice way to honor Nirvana's 30th anniversary of Unplugged. Great performance! Could have been Kurt himself. Great job! Totally impressed with your guitar playing. I subscribed to your channel I loved it really entertaining. Thanks for the video and for introducing me to your channel. Looking forward to hearing much more! ❤
0:20 speaking of requests.. One thing I'd like to see you cover would be a comparison between a Fender Champion and the Twin Reverb for Nirvana tones. Supposedly the clean channel is essentially meant to sort of sound like a twin. And I was kind of curious how close (or far) it would be, and could be useful for people trying to get Nirvana tones (or something close) on the cheap. Similarly to the squier Oranj stang budget build you did.
Awesome and loved the little foo fighters easter egg!!! And also i had a question? What do you do with the stock parts of guitars when you replace them with other parts? For example when you replaced the black jb with a white jb on your skystang, what did you do with the black jb?
@@NirvanaGuitarsthanks for replying, and if you at some point have a spare black jb, are you going to put it on the orang stang because isn't that what was on the oranj stang in its final form
This is so great I love these, might make one of them my ringtone, just wish there were full versions. (asking for too much) Anyway thanks for the great watch!
Awesome idea for a video. The stella is such a cool guitar. The only thing I never see on the recreation guitars tho is the paint job, in color photos I’ve seen of Kurt’s it looks more red burst than honey. I would guess the paint jobs were all over the place back then
I’m really excited to see the new skystang 1 mod I know cause I follow you on every platform I have. Like meeting Ernie Bailey and Kurt’s Brother And I Have Been a fan of nirvana sense I was 3 like I wish I could live like you
hey, i just listened to the entirety of unplugged and nevermind 20th (disc 1 AND disc 2) yesterday, epic i guess! edit: also you should've added instrumentals, maybe in another video? - white strat eater
What a great idea. The Stella sounds so good. You should play more songs with this amazing sounding guitar. This warm tone with the great lowend gives me chills. The guitar was tuned down a halfstep for all the songs, or not?
i love your vids and what you do on this channel but im not sure which pickup i wanna get either a duncan 59N or a duncan JB i love in utero tour tones but i also love vadalism strat tones so im sure which one to get

A different perspective like a darker MTV Unplugged version....I wonder if Kurt was using an Epiphone "Nixon Now" Texan acoustic guitar for just one song...
@NirvanaGuitars In my opinion a 1951 FT79 Epiphone Texan with a jumbo body same as Kurt seems more rare compared to the same year but with a dreadnought like shape....
Sounds great. I’ve wondered what it would be like if kurt used his Stella on unplugged. Quick question, could you have put the mic through the pedals and have it send the effects through the mic instead of adding it in post or would it be difficult for that to work? Regardless you got very close with the effects in post

That is funny.I was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago while listening to it.
Grunge is not about money and richness😂😅😅
@@НиколайВерин-ь4еNoone said it was, it was just how history went down.
Stella paired with the unplugged setlist gives off "small late-night bar gig" vibes. Super somber and low-endy. Great stuff man.
Agree 100%. Sounds like a guitar someone would be playing on a saturday in a small town bar. Nostalgic.
Happy 30th Anniversary to the greatest live performance of all time!
