I am 99% sure that Pioneer DJ will refresh or update their beginner and pro line of controllers, specifically the DDJ-1000 and 400.
And here’s how I justify that.
The DDJ-RZ and RB which are the predecessors of the 1000 and 400, came out in July 1 and April 26 of 2016
The DDJ-1000 and 400 came out on January 16, and June 26 of 2018.
And the only controller released in 2020 was the eclectic FLX-6.
So following that 2 year release date logic, and the fact that only a mid range unit came out in 2020.
We can safely assume that Pioneer DJ will update the 1000 and 400 line.
And if not update then maybe reiterate as the FLX 8, and FLX 2 with dual software capabilities and maybe even more gimmicky features!
But realistically speaking though, what can we expect on the updated models? Well for sure, they’ll have better Jog wheels based on the CDJ-3000 and FLX 6. And maybe they’ll even have Paddle FX features from the S11.. but I don’t know. What do you guys think? Let me down below!
Anyway, you may now be wondering though if it’s a good idea to buy a DDJ-400 or 1000 right now?
Well here’s my take.
If you are in an absolute need of a DJ controller, then by all means, go ahead and purchase one of the current models.
Don’t let these predictions stop you from starting out, because at the end of the day, it’s the DJ that matters and not the gear.
But if you’re in the market to upgrade your DJ gear and you guys can wait. The future is bright! Keep waiting for that refresh because it’s coming!

@@Robin-is3ke my advice is to get a mixars primo. Its all metal with gold inputs. it has all mid tier features there are and also a lot stuff you only see when putting 1000 bucks on the table...but it only costs 400 and come with serrato pro included.

That’s what I use now too. It’s awesome. I started with the Impulse 200 by Hercules when I first was learning on the 7 day DJ training academy in DJUCED. I still use DJUCED because it’s just the software that I’m used to. I’m planning sometime in the future to buy a Pioneer DJ brand controller and possibly learn either Rekordbox or Serato DJ. Just because it’s one of the most common equipment and softwares used by many DJs, and I like to learn a bit of each type.
I bought Pioneer DDJ Wego 2 last week. Childhood dream ko magDJ and because of you nabuhay ulit un dream ko na yun. Keep it up sir!

I got my prime go 2 months ago and as being in the DJ Business for 50 years this is my retirement gear where I put everything on a 1T flashdrive along with a 1T SD card and BAM!!!!...i need nothing else and with streaming and 1 aux input this will keep me djing until I am 80....great review..

If anyone is hesitant on the DDJ-1000.. Don’t be!! It’s worth every penny!! It all comes down to what you want out of a controller, and as someone who mixes bass music and often has more than three songs loaded and playing at the same time, it’s one of the best four channel controllers you can buy IMO. It has a similar feel to cdj’s minus the $4000+ price tag.

look at the mixars primo, its a 800-1000 bucks controller that comes for just 400 with serrato pro included. All metal and a ton of stuff you only see with fe the ddj 800 and upwards^^

I own the DDJ-1000. Got it a few months ago. It put a dent in my pocket, but it’s worth every penny. It’s just incredibly solid, high quality, and the fader with the CDJ jog wheels. 👌 Definitely a good pick up.

I just got mine about a month ago and I couldn’t agree more! I switched from the Numark Mixtrack Platinum to the DDJ-1000 and scratching felt so much easier!

The mergeFX are just a Rekordbox software function, so you can use it with any controller if you map it yourself or if you use the mouse to use it.

@@djroem1 your right I used to use pioneer gear and I stopped because they don’t want you to have a lot of features on one controller and a controller with lots of features and channels it is a lot, for example ddj-rzx is 4 or 3k the prime 4 has more features than the rzx and is half the price

Owning a DDJ-400 since July this year to start - but now I’m waiting for the predecessor of the 1000 to upgrade. The 400 is good for at home but I hate the pitch faders. They are so small and that’s why it makes big jumps in BPM just with a little movement. It makes speed matching harder.

Was planning to upgrade from DDJ-800 to DDJ-1000 because of the jog wheels, but now going to wait for a while. Would be great if they added FX Frequency for beat effects in MK2.
I got the ddj flx6 im happy with it as its my first upgrade especially to a 4 deck mixer its pretty fun playing around with the new effect knob they made but i still make music whilst playing around with it

Dude you are so badass I cant even begin. Can you Show me a pro mixing on the NI Kontrol S2? I am new to using a DJ deck and I want to show my friends that in the end it's a personal choice. Most DJ controllers are great for a good cheap price, like most of them at the 300 to 400 US dollar range.

Hi DJ Carlo! I’ve been DJing for a few months now was curious on what your thoughts are on VDJ 2021. I run a DDJ-1000 and noticed that VDJ seems to be a lot more customizable and user friendly, but rekordbox seems to be noticeably more responsive to scratching than VDJ even after trying to adjust different settings such as latency.
is it a good time to buy the denon prime Go? or wait for Go2? thanks for great video as always Carlo!

hey, I'm stuck between the DDJ 400 or the Roland DJ-202. Can anyone give me some advice on which one to get as a beginner who will most likely upgrade in the future.
What dj controller is that you have placed on the surface in this your this TH-cam video ?.
Ive a Pioneer SX2, its an old controller now but does so much and has an absolute rake of features - more than i use.
Id absolutely love something new but cant justify upgrading to another laptop controller.
I think the only and justifiable upgrade would be to a standalone.
Save your money and make the leap to a standalone rather than another laptop controller.
Just my input for those enquiring.
What do you think about the Mixars Primo. I'm looking to upgrade mixtrack pro 3 and don't need club gear. The free Serato is worth a lot and it has lots of features. (I hear the jog wheels are heavy and the crossfader sucks but I mix house and don't scratch). Looking forward to your insane mixed in 2021!

I just picked up the Pioneer DDJ- RZX before Christmas. I wanted to evolve from my Traktor S8. I am blown away with the features. I don’t like the subscription though. 3 grand for a controller and a monthly subscription just doesn’t seem right in a customers eyes. All in all this controller is really amazing.

Very insightful.. Looking at the DDJ 800. Should I wait for NAMM 2021 in July? Don't want buyers remorse if something new gets announced by then.
I really want a ddj1000 but when might this refresh comes out? I’d hate to but it then next month they announce something new
Advice time! I have the opportunity to buy a second hand DDJ1000 off for $2000 (NZD) where to buy it brand new would cost me $2400. I am in dire need of an upgrade to a four channel as I sometimes play gigs (as a drum and bass dj so I almost always need three channels). I would consider the flx 6 however the tiny tempo slider and the lack of XLR outputs, makes me hesitant. I would consider manufacturers like Denon because I love the look of all of their products, however I feel I’m restricted to Rekordbox as I need my tracks RB analysed and to play on CDJs at gigs.
So do I buy either of the listed controllers or do I actually just wait to see what new releases pioneer would have?

Pioneer DDJ 400 is a excelent choice: comes with Rekordbox, you can use with the brand new Djay from Algorithm, have nice features like beat jump, beat loop, etc. For this price range you cant go wrong!

While I use a pioneer controller, I feel that Denon wanted the standard more than Pioneer. I also do not like Pioneer’s marketing that focuses on the cool factor. At least Denon steps up there marketing with more emphasis on technical info. Pioneer needs to get off their asses she start innovating again or lower their prices.

i would say ddj 200. i have an inpulse 200 and the cue buttons are hard plastic, and it doesn't have a mid eq. it is good to learn the basics of beatmatching and mixing but i ended up buying a ddj 400 a few months later and was much more pleased with the general quality of pioneer vs. hercules.
Looking at the state of public events, i don't think professional gear is being hurried to get updated.
Maybe beginner, yes, bc people have more time to learn during lockdown.

Picked up my FLX6 because of you and I love the thing. Could you make a vid about ableton integration for drops and loops with ableton link on either rekordbox or serato? If anyone should do a scratch routine with a launchpad and show it's potential is you.

Maybe Hercules 700? It would have 4 channels something like s4 mk3, around 620 €, or maybe mixars release an upgraded version of mixars primo(great console),a 4channel one, or maybe denon decides to strike the market with a beginner console like ddj 400 at 300€ cuz mc4000 is a bit meh

My 2021 prediction is that Numark will release a flagship controller. Probably one of their NS products or perhaps the NV or something new all together. As usual it will raise quite some eyebrows and then will be forgotten again, because people seem to want a new controller ever three months now.

My prediction is this;
A controller from Pioneer called DDJ 600
It has the same shape and design as DDJ 400 but with 4 channels from DJM900!
Imagine this scenario;
A DDJ400 is small and has small jog wheels. Now imagine it has a mini yet full version of DJM900 and 4 channels
Maybe at the same price as DDJ400 sold for?
If that ever comes out, i'll definitely buy it.
