The way this season is shaping out Michigan seems like they are just a better team. They're better on both sides in the trenches (remember their first loss to Sparty the d-line and run D as a whole got gashed by Kenneth Walker). It's hard to imagine any team gashing them, I was afraid Singleton and Penn State was going to break off some big ones but the Michigan front 7 dominated. They're better stopping the run, they're better at running the ball, they're more explosive running the ball, they're more dynamic at QB, they cover well, they have an excellent special teams and a reliable kicker. It's hard to say there is any weakness on this team, and they're absolutely built to beat Ohio. To do that will be a tall task this year, but it's hard to imagine anything but an all-time great type of match up. It's hard to imagine either team not being undefeated going into it as well.
Agree on not knowing how good JJ is. Harbaugh hasn’t let him loose to throw to all those great receivers. NOTHING deep across the middle. No seam routes to TE’s. Everything is 5-8 yards. Let him throw deeper. AND, let him run more. Especially in RZ. RPO with him faking to #2 and then running to the corner. He’d probably walk in the way the D keys on Blake inside the 5
Yeah, but you protect him until they need him. He’s not very big, don’t need hits that could knock him out against teams you can just destroy with a pin and pull run game.
My biggest concern now is the Michigan state game becoming a let down game. Last year when they lost to a spartan team that clearly was not as good as Michigan it was gut check time. After the PSU game Blake made the statement now it's time to focus on sparty. I hope they do. They need to make this next game even more of a statement game. That statement is that there's a different team now that the Big Ten needs to reckon with.
JJ had 300 plus passing and 2 TDs against Indy. Running game wasn't as effective that game. I think he already proved he can carry us on offense when needed. I like Joel but idk what he missed in the Indiana game about JJ. He was Balling.🤷🏾♂️
@@oshae248throwing 77% 3 TDs and 1 pick... I'm taking that All day. Nothing wrong with taking what the D gives you. That was a better Stat line than any of Cades games last year. Deep balls will come, but alot of it is WRs not getting open down field either.
I kind of agree with the same style of team but then I don't....this team can hurt you in more than running down your throat and the only setback so far is creating turn overs on defense and special teams!
You said it, Ohio St saw the same team that beat them last year. But there's one caveat; this year Michigan has a better quarterback who is a dual threat. Deep throws and he can use his legs.
@@buckeyesl5 He’s just as good as a game manager , and then has 10x more talent 🤣 Like Joel said , when the QB has to go won them the game , id rather have the athletic big armed guy who can make plays from scratch …
Michigan’s balance on offense and the run game improvement from their stellar season last year, you should expect an even wider gap in the matchup with ohio state. They will run straight through them…again.
Love smash mouth football 🤣 Do it until they can stop it 🤣 Last year they couldn’t stop it… we’ll see how they stack up this year. Would love to see a win in C-Bus.
Way too early to call that. Ohio State isn't the same team as last year either. I think they are better, particularly defensively, and it's a road game not home. At this point I would favor Ohio State - running over them is definitely the way for Michigan to win and it's definitely possible they could do it again, but in terms of total body of work to this time I would put Ohio State as the best team in the country right now. Too early for Michigan to get cocky about that matchup.
No reason to believe the bucks defense is better. Their best win to date is Toledo. Signs during that Gage and Arkansas St where they are not only better but possibly worse.
Penn St having a high ranking rushing defense isn't as big of a deal when you look at who they have played. That said, Hayes and Keegan on the O-line seem to have really gelled now and look like they can get the ball moving against anyone. They basically forced Penn St to move linebackers into the box and opened up for sweeps and quick outs. Offensively, as long as McCarthy doesn't force passes I don't think anyone has the personnel to stop Michigan.
If I dare say it but LBU was a tad short on LB play. I know Corum's going to earn his tally even if its not till 4th qtr. But Mary Land had him cornered for a great deal of the game. Lets face it. The yard stick has and always will be the last conf game. OSU LB are up to the task but DB's????? Plus McDuck will be running like Jesse Owens. That one for you Buckeye fans.
They have the same personnel...and they think a new DC matters...it doesn't matter against michigan because they let you know up front we are gonna run right at you, stop it
It's a road game, not home like last year. That makes a difference. Also so far I would say Ohio State is improved esp. defensively. Michigan could beat them, but overall I would put Ohio State #1 in the nation based on what they've done so far this year.
@@strategicsage7694 what have they proved? They haven't played a great team and not any team that I would considered great offensively. They won't really until they play Michigan

Nah the holes that were left open for michigan was atrocious. The defense was very sloppy and ohio aint gonna give them that all game. Its easy to dominate when the defense gives you 12 foot holes. That being said they played very well defensively.
OK as Ohio State fan I think Michigan is a good team. I honestly believe they’re a big threat to anyone in the big 10 but I have to say I don’t believe Penn State just like Notre Dame were supposed to be ranked in the top 10. That’s not trying to take anything from Michigan.
I DON’T 💯 AGREE ABOUT JJ NOT BEING ABLE TO CARRY. First, I don’t think they will have to face that situation until a hopeful CFP game. That’s because Penn state’s D is better than Ohio state’s. That’s the only great team left on the schedule. And JJ scored Michigan’s only TD in the playoff game against Georgia when he finally got to play.
@@Zigg6411 Its not way off. On paper Ohio state’s is better. That’s on paper. Even the stats on paper aren’t a good source, because the mixed variables such as opponents played is not consistent to each team. These teams are evaluated based on who they played individually rather than all playing the same exact opponents in the same exact conditions. So they will never satisfy or give a universal conclusion. But I can say that Michigan looks more dominant in the run game this year than they did last year and Michigan should be feeling pretty good about their chances against the buckeyes again!
Although UMs DLine is GREAT this year, I would not agree that they're as strong as last year which is the only thing scaring me on the road to Columbus. Their Bully ball running between Corum, Ewards and the strongest OLine in the nation will be extremely powerful to win games the rest of the year. I believe every game of experience JJ gets he will become better and better, as a result he will have more variety and will be able to throw outside of 5-10 yards more confidently like we know he can do

Do trust me, they are practicing for OSU every practice with plays you have not seen this whole season and will not see until November 26th Go blue!
Michigan is good no doubt but the Big Ten is soft outside of OSU and Michigan. Penn State was somewhat lucky to be undefeated still. Just setting up for a top 3-4 match at the end of the year and until then fansbases will just dig in.
Michigan needs to absolutely obliterate Sparty. The Spartans have this knack for showing up absolutely JUICED for this match up, Michigan is to them what Ohio is to Michigan. Michigan needs to show up in two weeks and absolutely beat the bricks off of Michigan State. I want it to be entirely one sided, I want it to be ugly, I want Michigan to win 59-0 with 600 total yards. There is no reason to think this game shouldn't be close to that, there is nothing at all to suggest it will even be a contest. But it is college kids, and Michigan State to their credit always finds a way to sneak out a W or make it seem surprisingly close. I just think this is the year for Michigan to run them over, and rub it in their faces! Go blue!
It's interesting that Michigan has at least TWO rivals. Not many teams can say that. Hard to think about OSU every day of the year when you know an enemy like MSU is thinking about Michigan every day of the year. Outside of Michigan, who else is OSU or MSU rivals? I think it's a tough balancing act every year for Michigan to focus on both. For this week, please Michigan, focus on Sparty and obliterate them.
I love JJ, but right now he is the reason I don't think they will win a natty this year. If he really clicks before the season is over, my feeling on that may change, but we need a really consistent QB to compliment our running game and he is not there yet. I'm confident he will get there, but will it be this season? That is the question.
@@patrichildebrand2074 the only reason it was deflected was because the tight end didnt block his guy properly and that freed him up to tip it, so I agree not really on jj.
Definitely flashbacks. We may lose in Columbus this year, but that Buckeye team is still all flash and zero toughness. The Big 12 offense they are running is not suited to win championships or win in bad weather.
But let's be honest, it's also possible that Penn was overranked. I don't know if I've ever seen an O-line open up holes like that. Michigan looked incredible. But the numbers don't add up. It shouldn't have been that easy. Michigan looked too good, and let's not forget that first half. Penn State scored twice due to Michigan blunders, and couldn't use it. Iowa looked ten times better than Penn State against Michigan. With all due respect to Penn State, I'm not sure Michigan's win says as much about Michigan as it does Penn State. As a lifelong Michigan fan, I'd love to be wrong, but I'm betting Michigan will be challenged more over the next four games than they were this past saturday.
Yea but at the same time....last year michigan had less of an offensive line and did the same thing to ohio st....who actually had a top 5 defense from the time they lost to Oregon and before they played michigan
@@SR-hf3hx That's what we're hoping for, right? Maybe I'm being overly cautious with my excitement. (Been a Michigan fan too long lol). I still question Michigan's secondary, and JJ. Give Michigan credit but I have no idea what Penn State was doing. For some odd reason, they decided to play 6 guys in the box for the majority of that game even as they were getting mauled. Maryland, Iowa, and Indiana were at least able to "contain" Michigan's run game as they combined to hold the Wolverines to less than 200 ypg and 4.75 ypc. @@mathewfullerton8577 Ahh I see what you mean. Well yards rankings are inherently highly flawed metrics to begin with IMO, but I don't know any realistic way to adjust them to competition. I.e. how do you decide whether a team getting a lot of yards rushing (or whatever) is a credit to the offense or a bad stat for the defense? It also depends on what else is going on in the game. If you're ahead early, the other team is going to pass more and get fewer rushing yards, which says almost nothing about their rushing attack or your rushing defense. So yeah - it's not a bad idea in theory, but I don't think there's any good way to make such adjustments. Yards/attempt doesn't really do it either, because there's quite a bit that doesn't capture.

Harbaugh also learned that there is zero reason to open up the playbook and be flashy when you don't have to...if you can put 400 yards rushing on a team and not have to throw...no point in doing so. That does not mean that JJ can't ball however...
the ONLY caveat to that is if you DON'T open up the playbook, then when the time comes that you NEED that big throw, you don't have experience doing it in a game.

@@rrpearsall just joking I love Joel and Gus and very happy with my school Michigan being great. Go Blue!

Yeah I hate mich st..they gonna play hard too ..its not going to be ez
They don't have a Kenneth walker on their team to bail them out this year.
Wasn't just Blake with that sentiment, this team is focused on beating Sparty.
JJ had 300 plus passing and 2 TDs against Indy. Running game wasn't as effective that game. I think he already proved he can carry us on offense when needed. I like Joel but idk what he missed in the Indiana game about JJ. He was Balling.🤷🏾♂️
him just throwing short routes and can't connect with the deep ball.
They had some dropped int at least 2 of them.

Lol another delusional scUM sucker 🤣

Eh, that's wayyyyyy off. Penn St.'s D is certainly not better than OSU's.

Penn State was 10th, not 5th. I think their ranking was appropriate for who they'd played and how they did against them. Every week reveals new info.
@@strategicsage7694 Joel said PSU came in with the fifth ranked rushing defense. That is what I was saying may have been a bit of an illusion given who they played and how they did. All my statistics were about their rushing defense.
