  • This is flight 5 of 13 from my recent journey around the world. In September/October, I set out to circumnavigating the Earth, and after 9 days, 8 airlines, 13 flights, and over 24,000 miles, I eventually landed back in Kansas City after visiting San Francisco, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok, Doha, London, Dublin, Munich and Newark. Over the next 4 weeks I'll be posting these flights in order, so you too can take this incredible journey with me! If the video doesn't have this bit at the top of the description, and in the pinned comment, it is not part of the around the world flights.

      Yes, Japan is very nice. I'm sure they exist somewhere, but I've yet to see an airport or area of Japan that doesn't look nice.

      @@sla31 I was very impressed with how well their organized the flights at NRT. They set it where you you go to the building and each gate would take you to a difference US city. I was also very impressed with their food court. The also had shower booths that gave you up to an hour to use. They had every amenity you could possibly think of in that shower room! Every possible shampoo, conditioner, every possible tool to fix your hair.
      I compare this with IAD. JEEZ!! That airport was a dump and had NO amenities. This was back in 1995.

      @sla31  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@scottbridge9391 I too found pretty much every airport I've visited in Japan now to be like this. With the caveat that the first time I visited an airport in Japan was during Covid and they definitely did not live up to that reputation then, but... I'll give them a pass on that one, as things were really different there for a couple of years.

      @@sla31 Yes they were on lockdown as every other place was, so yes, very understandable and very forgivable.
      Asian Pacific airports are also very orderly. They have the ground transportation down to a tee.
      The one exception is Manila. They're much less orderly. They're the odd man out in that part of the world, although their primary airline, PAL, offered good service, the kind that we expect from Asian airlines.
      When I was in SHA back in 1993, they were a little on the chaotic side too, but with their whole new airport further out of town, things are very well organized.
      I'd love to try their Maglev train.
      Same with Hong Kong. Their new airport is one of the most orderly on this planet. And the Chinese did a stellar job on deciding what to do with the old Kai Tak airport grounds.

      I'd love to do that. Unfortunately tough, Etihad has a pretty bad reputation for not liking camera's onboard their planes. I know of several TH-camrs who have been scolded and yelled at just for having GoPros out on Etihad. So, that doesn't make me want to spend a ton of money on a flight, if they're just going to tell me I can't film.

    Thank god they didn't have cabin lights on during landing like they usually do, that would make filming almost impossible😂

    • @sla31
      @sla31  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Oh, but they did leave them on. In fact, they kept them on the entire flight. See, doing this now for 8 years has thought me some tricks to help minimize that issue. Those include, wearing all black, having the camera in a black case, and sitting in a position where the camera won't need to be angled a lot to keep the wing in frame. These things, combined with some messing with he exposure both during and in editing can pretty much get rid of that issue.

    • @MqLei
      @MqLei 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sla31 What a coincidence! I am doing exactly the first two points you mentioned😂But about the third one, sometimes I have to sacrifice for a better engine view!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@MqLei yeah. Unfortunately, I've found the trade off for a better view isn't usually worth it haha. You start to angle the camera too much and it doesn't matter how much black is around you, the area from the row in front or behind is going to start to creep in. Of course, this would all be fixed easily if they'd just turn off the lights haha.
