I find myself in the most fortunate position that the day i decide to buy Kontakt to build my own instruments, i also stumble across this wonderful tool, and on sale to boot!
Denni are you crazy? I have the old KGM versions and they are great. I learned how to create knobs and buttons with Photoshop thanks to a course by Alex Pfeffer. But then all your tutorials disappeared from the Rigid Audio website and the KGM versions were no longer updated, but now you have created this new KGM 2024... I'll buy it now!
Hi Dennis, am very delighted!! What is about Presets one like to offer for people doesn't use the Full Kontakt but the Kontakt Player 'Version'. I see in the end your walkthrough going a little bit on hat subject: Can you give some more Information about the restrictions when using the Rigid Audio Kontakt GUI Maker if you like to adress those users? Thank you very much, such a great product!!
Thank you! Products made with KGM will work with the free Kontakt Player, however, there's a demo time-out (around 15 minutes) per session. You would then need to reload/restart Kontakt Player. You can also contact Native Instruments, if you're planning to do release a Kontakt Player products - but that is quite expensive!
Hi! Great video! Just bought this, very fun! It would be nice to go more in depth on how to work with round robins with this, is that in any other video? I don't get how I would do it if I would want multiple variations of the kick etc for natural feel. Cheers from Sweden!
Thanks! You can use round robins in that case 🙂 Either via groups or via the new "fixed sample playback" menu option, where you can trigger pre-defined notes.
Hi Dennis. The new KGM is really fantastica user friendly compared to its great predecessors which were very feature rich compared to KGM 2024. I have a few things to ask you: 1. In KGM 1 you could zoom the screen by pressing (in Win) ALT+mouse wheel in KGM 2024 I can't do it. 2. How can I apply a "SELECT IMPULSE RESPONSE or enter impulse response selection fx" like in KGM 1? I hope I have made you understand. Thank you so much!!!
1) Screen zooming is currently not possible, however, you can rescale the main program window. Zooming the project window in KGM might come in the future if a lot of people request that :-) 2) That is not yet implemented - that will also come in future free updates! Thank you.
@@RigidAudio Thanks Denni, I ask you one last question please: In KONTAKT 7 - SEND FX - CONVOLUTION the new KGM acts on IR SIZE-HIGH PASS-LOWPASS of LATE but I would like to select it on EARLY Thanks again and really congratulations on your new KGM
@@eliadesa3552 Oh, thanks for that! I will add these actions to the next update as well! Please contact me so that i can you these via E-Mail. Thank you :-)
I'm confused about some of the toggle switch actions. Some of the actions like lo-fi, rotater and flair are working properly when toggled on, but others like the reverb and delay, are always on whether or not the switch has been toggled on or off. Actually toggling them on causes almost 2 instances of the effect. Any possible reason this could be happening? Also, how do you add an arpeggiator? I don't see one in the list of actions.
Hard to tell. Most of the effects in the Kontakt are turned off by default so save CPU cycles and these need to be enabled via toggle switches. When you hover over toggle actions in the action assign window there is a little reference image inside it showing the actual FX chain and which element it affets. On top of these are little red "B" (bypass) button symbols. Whenever these are RED, that means initially this effect is bypassed (disabled). An Arpeggiator is currently not available but all these things including sequencers will follow in the future!
I'm trying to make my own Kontakt library and there's just much I don't know how to do and then I find this! I mean, this looks like the most perfect thing I could wish for, for making my own Kontakt sample libraries! It's genius! Something I am trying to do in my library is to have a load of samples, for example, sound design drones mapped to each key and all the drones are recorded in the same key. However, this is really not useful for writing and would like to be able to instantly pitch shift them. I was thinking having keyswitches, say two octaves of key switches and when I press any of those keyswitches, it will change the key/pitch of all the samples mapped to that key/pitch. Is this something that I could do with GUI Maker?
Hi, yes, that should be possible! You can have keyswitches in KGM that you can use to toggle the 16 available sample layers per instrument (*.nki instrument). Speaking of "lots of samples" you can then e.g. have one instrument with 16 different types of drones that you could keyswitch, and then have another instrument with an additional set of 16 samples and so on. Hope that helps 🙂
Hi Dennis, Is there way to change the typeface used below the knobs, and the type size and tracking? [5 minutes later] Oh there is a demo, I'll try it and we'll see.
Yes - once you are done with your instrument you can go into Kontakt -> click the disc (file) icon -> choose "Collect Samples/Batch compress. There you have to choose your source and target folders and can also choose to losless compress all audio files. Hope that helps
I bought from you some good years ago an unusable Kontakt GUI maker whose development was later abandoned. Will I have a special upgrade price to this version as an early project adopter?
I agree to a certain amount ,yes, but it was not completely unusable at all, it was just not that intuitive, yes. Sure, please contact me questions@rigid-audio.com - thank you!
@@RigidAudio thanks for the reply i have a couple of kontakt libraries like soundiron apocalypse, world percussion creator e.t.c that allows you to drag midi loops from the Gui to the daw

I have a question regarding the generated script, when I open the instrument in kontakt I can't edit the code lines because it asks for a password, did I missed something or is it like this by default? Thanks for your help
Yes, that is the default, since the script file is external you wouldn't be able to edit in directly in Kontakt anyway. You can however look for it in the Kontakt GUI Maker\projects\ esources\scripts folder :-) Hope that helps
Hi. I'm demoing this now and I can't find an option in the actions list to assign a knob to Group Volume or Pan. Does this software presume you only have one group in the Kontakt instrument? Thanks
Hi, int the action select/assign window you can simply search for "volume" or "panning" and assign these. Then, choose the group (called "sample layer", 1-16) you want it to assign to. Hope that helps
Thanks. So just to confirm - the Sample Layers A-P control Groups 1-16 in Kontakt? There's no way for me to test this from the demo software. I did find a work around, which is in Kontakt to send Group 1 to Bus 1, Group 2 to Bus 2, etc and then use the Volume Bus and Pan Bus in KGM. But accessing the individual groups is more convenient. Sample Layers action Kontakt Groups right? Thanks again
Hello, I recently purchased your Kontakt GUI Maker software and would like to know if it is possible to create a dropdown menu that allows selecting presets within the program. I look forward to your response and send you my best regards. Sincerely, TS
Hi ts_empire, not currently unfortunately - you would need to make your own presets as seperate NKI instruments once your layout and everything is done and set up. However, some kind of preset management is planned for later this year.
You can use the kgm_config.txt file in the "Kontakt GUI Maker" folder to adjust screen scaling from 100-200%. I hope that helps, please let me know :-)
