Wow, I can’t believe you were able to push textures to Very High this whole time @ 60FPS just by lowering shadows and reflections. Thank you so much for this video! I’ve struggled to get a stable 60 even with medium in Wave Ocean, and following your recommendations got me much better performance.
Reduce the draw distance to medium.
Draw distance is the real killer in this game.

I am just glad that it plays on the steam deck. I just dropped a shit ton of money on a steam deck last night and I woke up realizing that it’s a windows game and that steam deck is a Linux based thing. I was panicking already.

I couldn't get this intro and tittle screen to work on my Deck, but thanks to You, now I know that Proton GE can handle this issue

For anyone wondering, reflections, volumetric lighting, and glowing outlines are currently broken. They drop the framerate to extreme lows, even on powerful desktops. Disabling them will see massive performance improvements. This issue, hopefully, will not be in the next release.

How did you get the controls to work? What layout do you use?
I have the original (NOLED) steam deck and am still very happy and satisfied with how the game runs! But I can't play every stage, since the game HARD CRASHES when trying to load Shadow's Flame Core, or another area of Sonic's Crisis City. I've had it running on GE-Proton-25 with otherwise no issues. If anyone can help with why the game crashes on specific stages, much appreciated. (Still huge fun and would recommend to anyone interested.)
I tried your settings but im still only getting around 40-50 fps on Wave Ocean. How is it your able to get a consistent 60?
Out of curiosity, what is your power tools settings?
How did you get controls working? The buttons are all wrong for me and the camera wont stop spinning no matter what I do.

This is strange, it looks as if some drivers for the gamepad are not installed.
@@SonixFan ok so an update, I managed to get it working.
I need to do some testing but the major difference is that at first I added the game to steam by right clicking the EXE and choosing "add to steam". That was the attempt that got me the broken controls.
However when I added it via the steam library "add a game" function, it worked perfectly. Im not sure why it worked this way, but its been working all day today.
Ill comment if I come across any further issues.
The problem Your having is probably cause You don't have enabled Steam Input.
What Steam does it basically pretends Your inputing Xbox 360 gamepad. Games that don't support latest Xbox gamepads have this issue, but it's as simple as turning on Steam Input in the settings
Just set up Your controller there or use the default cotroller pattern.
I've been using Steam Input before they remade the whole UI... still trying to get use to it, but I honestly prefere the old one, as it visualized the whole controller
@CrossTrash so I'm getting the same problem, dunno what to do about it as I've tried messing with the controller layout but nothing seems to work weirdly. Know anything I could do?

You just need to add the .exe file of the game as a third-party application in Steam.
To do this, go to desktop mode: Steam Button → Power → Switch to Desktop. Download the archive with the game and unpack it. To add a game to the Steam library: Games → Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library. Done!
Before starting, also do not forget to enable the compatibility option, as shown in the video! Proton will launch the game, but with video playback problems. I recommend installing GE-Proton, link in description.
