i think a lot of people are misunderstanding the sad girl thing. she doesn‘t want us/herself to not feel sadness anymore, she just doesn‘t want to be defined by that as an artist since her work shows many nuanced emotions that go beyond sadness.
I'm sure but the majority of her mainstream songs are pretty depressing & emo on a lyrical lvl as they're good. She can't really blame people for relating those vibes with her.
