Solid bike man! I did the same thing with an old rebel 450. I had to build a little number plate to hide the akward frame work for the seat pan on mine.
Very nice and clean conversion. The OEM belt drive, however, looks rather bulky and clutters the rear of the bike. You may consider a chain conversion; I experimented with 17/49 but the speedo underread, so I corrected to 17/50, spot on! I have read of 18/52 conversions, but this too will make the speedo underread; furthermore, sprockets are both even toothed and this may cause uneven wear of the final drive assembly. My setup with a 17 tooth front sprocket corrects the problem, 17 being a prime number.
Christoph Diermann- Thanks. I didn't have to modify the swing arm. There was plenty of room between the tire and the swing arm once the belt was pulled tight. I used the original hub from the Suzuki Boulevard 15 inch rear wheel and re-laced it with 36 new spokes and an 18 inch wheel.

Specifically since it looks like you had to raise the frame a bit for the seat...I'm thinking of getting a 2006 model and snagging a kit

Sierra175 Well there are two rubber posts on the frame that the tank slide onto. Then the tank is right against the frame. I assume you'd have to cut and channel the tank.

Riley Tebbetts No need to adjust anything at all. The wrap itself may smoke for a bit but then it's good. IMHO the bike should run cooler not hotter. As the radiant heat that comes off the header won't be going back toward the engine, but rather out the end of the exhaust.
Aaron Rankin What top speed are you getting? Im only getting 62-65. Im replacing the 28 year old petcock with a raptor, and a new pod filter as well. Hopefully that should make it run better and faster at higher speeds.

Aaron Rankin Something like an SRX tank that is higher at the rear with cut aways & dimples for the clip ons - there are alloy brit ones too that look the dogs - we like your gutsy choice of engine

I don't like that the air filter is so small, and behind the engine, sucking in hot air, but other than those, it's very nice, good work.

It is two metal plates welded together and shaped to form the shape of the bottom of the shock.

Aaron Rankin updated my top speed is around 70. Previous owner debaffled and rejetted so I don't know why I'm not getting 80-90 for my top speed.

How has the speed changed on it?
Reed Schimmel It accelerates much faster because the bike lost a bunch of weight. Top end increased maybe 10mph.
Gotta be honest I'm not keen at all on the rear shock extension idea, that can't be even slightly reliable

The exhaust was bought from Ryca.com or dime city cycles. I can't remember which one.

Depends on what you want done. There's a lot of factors. The type of bike, the year, etc. Also depends on your budget.

The tank is the original tank that's why. I didn't want a 1 gallon tank.

Aaron Rankin stock tank is 2.8 gallons, you can modify it (or have RYCA do it) and it will only take it down to 2.5 gallons.
