Sky King! I was convinced my Dad was Sky King. Growing up in South Dakota, my Dad had a single engine plane and would fly around the State. When I figured out that he was using it for work, he was still a Hero to me. He was a veterinarian. Those ranches and sick animals are miles and miles apart. 2-way radios and planes. We were high tech for those days.
I was a little kid when this show was aired. I didn't miss too many episodes because of my love for aviation. The old black and white shows were always clean with no obscenities and wholesome scripts. The airplane photography was very good for the time. I was glad I grew up in those innocent days. I dont even watch an TV shows anymore. I just watch documentaries on Netflix or TH-cam.
Wonderful TV show, wholesome family entertainment, of the 1950s. Kirby Grant as Schuyler "Sky" King, and Gloria Winters as his niece Penny, and their western style adventures in the modern era aboard his trusty Cessna airplane, the Songbird. Ah, great 1950s TV nostalgia...
Those days are gone never to return again. Today's youth couldn't stay still long enough to watch it. It would be nice. Just have to enjoy the reruns of all the good shows like SKY KING.✈️
I really enjoyed Sky King 60 years ago as a kid and I still enjoy each episode today. Good clean wholesome programing. RIP to Sky, Penny and whoever else is no longer with us. That was talent back in the day.
Sky King and the whirlybirds were our favorite show growing up. Along with Highway patrol. All clean programs and the kids were polite there were no rude innuendoes
I just got to state side at ten years old (navy brat ) and was mesmerized by this show. At 72 I’m still in love with aviation and still flying. Thanks for the memories.
Funny how i remember a much newer, sleeker aircraft. Decades after this show went off the air, im still fascinated by aircraft and aviation. Armchair pilot. The crop dusters really got my attention on the old farm.
I don't remember this episode from when I was a kid, but I'm sure I would have cheered when Sky nailed that old coot with a rock from his Twin Cessna! But watching it just now I just laughed my ass off. What great entertainment it was, along with the other greats like Highway Patrol, Whirlybirds, The Lone Ranger and others. And great comic relief like The Real McCoys - one of my favorites.
I thought Skye Kings first plane was a Model 18 Beechcraft, then came the Cessna 310. Penny had her own plane too but can't remember the name or model. It was a taildragger of some sort😂 Good program 😊😊
I am a private pilot, and always thought the Cessna 310 was a beautiful aircraft, even more than-than Beach baron. I took the ground school for a twin, but found that it was not that much more safe than a a single, complex like the Bonanza.
I was a young boy, probably 6 to 8 years old and we moved to Long Beach from Canada and my grandparents who we were staying with live down the street from Kirby‘s sky, King nephew. He was a couple years older than we were. I remember we go to his house and watch him play with his monkey. This brings back so many memories. It was truly a lifetime ago. I’m 72 now. What a great time to be a kid a cherish the memories long as I can remember them lol😊
Two comments: 1). The antenna on the aircraft mock-up is backwards… You would think 🤔 someone would have noticed! 2). When the large stone hit our “ne’er do well” the force of it would have crushed his skull… Here, it just knocked him out of the boat!
I think set design and continuity errors like these were quite common in these early days of television. Thanks for pointing them out. Even in modern times, we can find these types of errors. I like to remember that television is not real life.
@@VintageFilmChannel Yes! The Game of Thrones fans noticed a big boo boo with the water bottle on a table. And back then, I’d say people were more focused on the story line, instead of pick out the errors. I enjoy this channel very much & thanks for your work!
What's the what's the address for Buffalo Bill snake bite elixir we got to figure one out here once you get bitten by the snake you take a drink of this and you'll be all right sometimes it don't taste like mountain dew but then again it might do that very moonshine that my daddy used to do in the woods up in the hills of Tennessee

I watched this show when I was kid on Saturday mornings. What a simpler happy time it was.

Nice to Go back to a better time When we all respected each other.. Glad I grew up then ❤
You said it best. Those were clean honest times. I wish I could go back.
A lot of thieves like today.
Brings back Saturday mornings loved this show🎉
This show captured my interest in aviation. I eventually spent 30 years workin in that field - helicopters and commercial a/c
We need a return to safe fun TV shows again. I always enjoyed watching this growing up.
One of my childhood heroes on Saturday morning.
The quality of programming then was so innocent compared to today. Nothing but a good message.
The world has changed, that's for sure...
Breath of fresh air. This is the world of morals ethics and virtue compared to our current hate division and reprobate minds.

I love Sky King when I was growing up. 💕
I am 72, and watch whenever I had a Black and White TV to look at! Penny was a babe back in the day!

The Golden Age of Hollywood and Television.
Remember watching Sky King, The Danny Thomas Show, Dragnet, and The Mickey Mouse Club!
Faintly recall watching it as a very young lad😮😮

One Of The Best Ever. Grew up Watching This Show 👍🏾
when tv was good to watch.. not like now
When heros were heros
And subs were grinders.
Yes, the last century was my time. I too don’t watch tv anymore. Thankfully we still have books/libraries

It was a Cessna AT-17 Bobcat , a military trainer circa WW2. I always wondered until another post referred to it.

I'M 72 WATCHED EVERYONE OF THEM GREAT SHOWS😊😊
I remember ordering a Sky King Ring from the radio days. I think it was 50 cents.
Coral Gables 🌴🇺🇸 Big fan. Remember the bamboo bomber and then the tuna tank 310. 🏄

And back in these good ol days murders were executed
Reruns -- Please .... 😁😁😁
I miss the old big plane
When we were kids we thought that model of airplane was sexy AF.
Sky, Sky, Sky. You had such a clear shot. But the rock bombs were much more dramatic.
Penny make sure you put the blocks under the wheels you'll be a lot safer with your hair drying.
*chocks
How come the Cessna did not have an anti-collision beacon?
Oh, I love it ! :D
“The River must be free.” I guess this old coot was just an early environmentalist.
What was Penny's plane's name?
Gloria Winters
@@jspinosa50 not the actress lol. Her plane's name
Is this a quiz? Do you know? Or do you want to know? (cause I don't)
@@VintageFilmChannel I'm trying to win a contest but I can't find it anywhere. Apparently, it had a name.
Suspense
Were you ever able to determine the title of this episode? Thanks!
The episode above is S03E03 Note for a Dam (Jan.05.1958)

Speaking as a recovering pedantic person, now I just enjoy the shows, complete with their flaws... I'm much happier than I used to be!

Are you able to get Spanish subtitles? We are hoping to add chapters but haven't yet. I'll try to do English and Spanish...

Notebook sully the memory of the show but...wanting to throw her over his knee seems a bit....ya.
All of the acting skill of a Jr High School play.
