You should know this before starting kitesurfing.

I've being kitesurfing for 4 years already.
First - you will need to get some lessons. You get the basics there but the most important is the safety for you and for people surrounding you.
-So 5 lessons 2 hours each - will cost you around 400 Eur here in Cyprus.
-The new kite with lines will be around 2.000 Eur. The used one can be around 700.
-The Board is about 300 eur. The new one can reach 600 or 1.000 Eur.
-Harness is around 300 eur. Used one will be 100 or 200 Eur.
-Swimming suite is 200 eur.
Overall you will give between 1.700 to 3.500 Eur.
What I did not know before starting kitesurfing?
- You have to check forecast for the wind.
- The wind direction is also important.
- Sometimes when you kitesurf it is difficult to go upwind when there is not enough wind.
- Also when there is not enough wind you can not jump high.
- There are days which are windy but you can not go out to kitesurf as you have some work to do.
- The kitesurfing gear will cost you some money.
- The more you ride the more you feel hungry for jumps.
- The kite is quite dangerous when not used properly.
- If you are alone on the site - you have to be prepared to launch and land the kite by yourself.
But once you are on the sea - you are in a total different world.

@@wincotje thanks man. Waves are great sometimes combined with kitesurfing. However I have never ridden flat water. Here when it is windy - there are waves as well
