Italy 2022 Pt 11 - Abruzzo - Fara San Martino, Palena, Pescocostanzo, Lettopalena and Fossacesia.

Our last day in Fara... We walk around Palena and Pescocostanzo and swing by Lettopalena before heading to Fossacesia on the coast with Anna and Pasquale.

My mother was born in Palena and emigrated to the U.S. in 1922, along with her parents and brother. She visited twice before her death including in 1997 when we baptized my younger daughter in one of the local churches. It as a wonderful experience visiting and traveling about for 4-5 days but I think for my mother it was extra special sharing her home town with her children and grandchildren.

That is great! And similar to my wife’s story but from Lettopalena instead of Palena. It’s amazing how many stories like this we hear, especially from the Abruzzo region for some reason.

Which place was your favourite? I’m thinking of doing a little house hunting in that region.

We loved all of them so it's hard to pick a favorite. I would like to spend more time in Pescocostanzo and Roccoscalegna - they both looked super interesting.
