    Yes, it's louder but not to loud vs. stock, I just needed a bit louder to be heard, I've had some experiences with cagers not seeing and hearing me, I believe to some degree loud pipes saves lives . Thanks for watching and commenting !

      Marshmellowfjr, any other modification other than what I did would require a tuner and dyno, AFR range would be to high for the stock ecm and the dealer download. Thanks for commenting and Happy New Year !

    They are...stock bars, They started with the mini apes with the 2014 Rushmore series, and yes I think also the Heritage come stock with them also. By the way the bars are extremely comfortable.

    I purchased a preowned 2006 HD Ultra Classic Peace Officer Edition. The exhausts were previously changed on it, so I have no complaint. They are not tubular such as the exhaust system on the Road King pictured here, but flat, as I look at them. A picture is included, here. An '07 update was performed by the Harley shop in Tigard, Oregon giving it a racing cam, and automatic cam chain tensioner. /Users/thomasnessman/Desktop/IMG_0518.jpg. I noticed that you have a block of wood under your side stand. Does that actually help?

    Hi Mike...I'm in Connecticut right now, however, I plan 2 go back to Florida (was there for 16 yrs) at least 4 or 5 months a yr when I retire. Mike, I'm 60 yoa in 2 weeks, actually the 31st of this month. My plan is 2 retire @ 62 so @ that point we would certainly be able 2 meet up 4 riding, seeing how ur in the great state of Louisiana. In the meantime, I'll keep u posted on the progress of the new bike as things unfold. It would b an honor 2 ride with u my friend, keep the videos coming, they are great and ofcourse ride safe.

    Hi Mike...yes this is the screaming eagle right angle big sucker w/the metal cover on it 4 protection. It's definitely aggressive and calls out to you when you look at it. This air cleaner will talk back in between gears on accel 4sure. I dont think it will be a problem as it is positioned forward quite a bit and shouldnt interfere with my right leg.

  • @freedomrider7767
    @freedomrider7767 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi mike...I went with the Cobra exhaust system. I decided to change out the head pipes too and I went with the more aggressive screaming eagle right angle air filter. I had them do the baseline mapping also to make sure the fuel/air mixture is correct.

Let's keep in touch.

  • @mgwaala
    @mgwaala 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sounds awesome! I expected the 2.25 baffles with the stock headers to be quiet, but there's some nice rumble there. Thanks for the ride by... gives good insight on the setup. I have a set of black Big Louies with 3" baffles waiting for spring for my '12 FLHTC. I figure I can always go smaller if they are too obnoxious.

    • @mikebigeasyrider
      @mikebigeasyrider  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      mgwaala, I was surprised too, louder than I expected, previous bike was a 13 FXDC ,with Rush, 2.25 baffle, the placement of exhaust on the FXDC was loud, touring bikes of course exhaust out the back end, the wife and I use the Sena 2 way for communicating while riding w/ no problems when she rides, when you get to cruising speed has a very nice constant rumble...purrrr's , oh another thing the baffles will deteriorate to some degree making them slightly louder over time. Good luck with the 3" on those beautiful FLHTC's, if not just change the size baffle.....Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • @rafeer4850
    @rafeer4850 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey me again. I just talked to RUSH about this very setup and Ryan over there told me that they don't recommend anything less than a 3" baffle if the bike still has the cat converter in the headpipe, that the muffler will probably blue itself.
    Have you seen any bluing appear on the Big Louie?

    • @mikebigeasyrider
      @mikebigeasyrider  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rafe Er ... No bluing at all, like I said have about 1500 mi. on the Big Louie's, I also had a 13 Harley Super Glide w/ Rush slip ons and 2.25 baffle, put 6k mi. on it , absolutely no issues, when I org. called Rush, spoke to , I think his name is "catfish", said the same thing, I (and you can check) checked with the Harley mechanic that does dyno's and told him the setup, he said no problem as long as you don't go lower than 2.25, over time you will lose some baffle packing, and my bike is still under factory warranty and purchased the pipes from Harley and had them install the pipes and do the ecm download. IMO, if they told me something wrong and there was an issue , they would have to eat it. To ease your mind, try and go to the dealership and se if you some used bikes with big Louie's ,ask salesman if the know what size baffles , and listen to them, better yet , go to a dealer event and ask the owner of some bike's what size baffle and can you hear it. I hope this helps on you making the right decision....Let me know what you find out and what you finally went with.

  • @rafeer4850
    @rafeer4850 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey, I've got the exact same bike and do a lot of 2-up riding with the wife but we wear half helmets. What sort of noise does your wife hear at highway speeds, pretty cool or does it get old after a while?
    I was looking at these Rush slip ons but thought about going with a smaller baffle because I figured they will get louder over time, any experience with your set up getting louder to the point you would want a smaller baffle than the one you have?
    Thanks.

    • @mikebigeasyrider
      @mikebigeasyrider  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rafe Er I wear a 3/4 helmet, she has a 1/2 helmet, b/c we use the Sena 2 way talk, I get some wind noise thru the mic (not a lot), as far as exhaust, being a RK, exhaust out the back end of the bike, nice purrrrrrr , the wife says she can hear the exhaust(at hwy speed) but not nothing to complain about. I have the 2.25 baffle, put about 1500 mi on them, have not heard yet a increase in loudness . At this point I don't think I would go any smaller than the 2.25 baffle. I want cagers to hear me, plus imo, the Rush Big Louie's sound great. Hope that helps, if you have any other questions I can help with feel free to pm me.....ride safe.

    You sure its bone stock?

  • @leadfooty
    @leadfooty 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why did you need to do a download? Was it because of the filter change? I always thought you didn't need to do anything when changing just mufflers.

    • @mikebigeasyrider
      @mikebigeasyrider  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +leadfooty ....Just to be on the safe side, with just slip on exhaust may be ok, but with the K&N free flow air cleaner, it will change the air flow ratio, will run leaner than stock, epa regulates stock bikes at 14.7 AFR which is already lean from the factory so the dealer proprietary download ( remapping the ecm) will bring the afr back down to epa standards, generally if you don't do download, will run leaner, hotter and may experience some decal popping , so for the price (my cost $150.00 US) is was worth it for piece of mind and the bike runs great . Thanks for commenting.

  • @freedomrider7767
    @freedomrider7767 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi mike...I went with the Cobra exhaust system. I decided to change out the head pipes too and I went with the more aggressive screaming eagle right angle air filter. I had them do the baseline mapping also to make sure the fuel/air mixture is correct.

    • @mikebigeasyrider

      +Tom Bousquet Great choice Tom, the Cobra exhaust sound fantastic, sounds like you got a little pep to your bike, question...some say that right angle air breather interferes with their right leg position, you may have the flatter unit vs the older screaming eagle version, Tom ..you might be ready for a reveal vlog.

    Put back the old pipes, they sound like a Harley, if you put on the V&H, Rineh or even Screamin Eagle you loose that deep baritone sound - the "Harleysound".
    You,re louder, but not nicer - and if you are on a long trip, remember the sound is
    following you and that noise makes you tired.

    I bought a brand new 2016 road King in crushed ice frosted real pearl paint that I'll pick up once the snow leaves. I bought the screaming eagle street cannons slip ons with fishtail tips. I hope it sounds half as nice as yours does. Also bought the mounting system with s rack. No back rest yet tho. Thinking of maybe lower fairings in a couple months. How do you like the ride? Easy on the back and comfortable? I hope so as I traded in my softail slim for the king.

    • @mikebigeasyrider
      @mikebigeasyrider  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +vulcanman64 First...congrats on the bike, I believe that's the two tone color, beautiful, excellent choice on the pipes, no major changes from 2014 to 2016, lower fairings ( I have seen them on a RK) are nice looking, a bit pricey though, Vman 64, the ride is awesome, the bike is very nimble and responsive, around town not a problem, but open road, hwy or interstate riding is truly amazing, so smooth & comfortable, night and day from the slim, so if you are looking for comfort and yet a bike that you can still roll the throttle the RK imo is it. Make sure you set the air shocks to correct setting, a check often. I only use the driver backrest on long rides. Picture this, on the highway,.. backrest , hwy pegs, cruise control, living the life...lol........I hope you post some pictures of your new bike .

      Thanks but I don't need a gadget to tell me what I can plainly hear with my ears. Those are a deeper throatier sound than stock mufflers, besides IDK what a "tonegenerator" is LOL

    Are those stock handle bars just raised up a bit?

      justin lucas Justin, they are new mini apes that are standard on the 2014 and 2015 model Road King. They are very comfortable on long rides with the factory cruise control . Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Rinehart has always been my favorite, but I believe Rush mufflers sound just as good! Sweet bike.

      THB65...They all sound good, Rinehart, Rush, V & H, Pythons, CFR's & D&D's. A lot of by buddies have Rinehart's, a couple have CFR's and man the loudest is those D&D's ,2 have them, mostly on Street Glides, 2014,2015's.The Rinehart's are a great sounding exhaust.

      +Mike BigEasyRider I've got a Vance and Hines Pro Pipe 2 into 1 full system (2010 Street Glide came with 2-1 exhaust), but have never been totally satisfied with the sound. I've contemplated taking the muffler off and going back with a Rinehart or Rush 4" slip on. Just not sure if the V&H pipe is the same diameter as HD pipe going into the muffler.

      Maybe calling Rinehart or Rush "Support line", may give you some help on that, I called Rush and got much info on questions I asked . Good luck

    Hi Mike...I wanted 2 tell u that I think you bike is absolutely DROP DEAD GEORGEOUS. I am totally in love with the Road king, so much so that I have a 2016 coming soon & I wanted 2 tell u about it & get your perspective. Mysterious Red Sunglow, white walls, Zuma 665 GPS, leather windshield bag, Stage 1 kit including Arlen Ness big sucker air intake, power commander 5 tuner, stock headers w/Rush slipons 1.75 baffles (I know, I love you big louies but, I need a little more quiet 4 my wife), 4 point docking system, passenger back rest & rider back rest 2 name a few of the mods. As a current Harley RK owner your opinion would be more than welcome. Oh, by the way, would u be down 4 riding sometime? Let me know...I would consider it a privilege!!

      +Tom Bousquet First, Congratulations......sounds like you have about all the mods u need, have a buddy w/ a 2014 street glide Daytona blue, painting his bike Mysterious Red Sunglow as we speak, it is a stunning color. If I am not mistaken your bike is a RK Classic ? Have a buddy w/ a 2013 RK Classic with the soft bags, last year for soft bags. Tom, IMO the RK is a true motorcycle, not a big fan of fairings , like to see the road under me, also you can remove the windshield , quite nimble and lots of power for a heavy weight bike, you are going to absolutely love it !!!...Always up for a ride, what area are you from ?

      Hi Mike...thnks 4 the quick reply. Yes Harley Davidson chose 2 stop prod of the classic in the United States 4 the 2016 Road King unfortunately, still available in Europe though, so yes, my bike will be the standard King.
      I will be able 2 get the w/wall tires though which, as u know was 1 of the things that made the classic a classic, aside from the soft bags, so that is great. I actually prefer the hard bags.

    I love my Big Louie on my 2012 Road King. Mine have the 2.5 baffles and I also added the true duels from Rush so it had to be tuned. I started with just the slipons and they made a big difference in the sound and a little increase in the performance. I want to add the new stock bars next to give the ride a little more comfort.

      +Joshua Laskowski , Nice set up you have, where does it end ?, I have 2 riding buddies, both have 2014 Street Glides, true dual Rinehart's, tuner and just added 259 cams, it's all in what you want to do. I remember watching your vid when I was researching exhaust. Differently go for the bars, they are very comfortable.
