  • This is my 2016 Street Glide Special. In this video I compare the stock exhaust with Rush Big Louies with 2.5" baffles and also Big Louies with no baffles just for fun. Please comment with suggestions and thanks for watching!

    After about 20 videos, this is by far the best one. I used over ear headphones and got a true sound of your work. Sounded awesome and thank you.

    Ya GOTTA, pull that CAT!!!!!! if ya do.......don't go with any baffle size over 2.25.....

    • @traversingwindingpaths3288
      @traversingwindingpaths3288  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that's the plan. I'm saving up for a full system to replace all of that, until then I guess it'll be quiet. Sorry for the late response and thanks for the advice. I didn't think about the 2.25.

      Mine has a 2.5 and I can still hear my tunes.

    Not a problem, once you pull the cat,anything over 2.25 gets a little OBNOXIOUS.....( just my opinion of course ) Looking forward to your next video with that CATLESS head pipe.

    I have big Louie slip ons with a cobra header, boy does it sound great now. I have had v-Hines etc and these sound better in my opinion. The sound is perfect.

      Agreed! I think it’s the best sound out there. But I’m probably a little biased haha.

    Best exhaust review I've seen. Very helpful and deep in the analysis. Thanks.

      Thanks for the kind words! I thought about what I'd like to see/ hear without having to search several videos and hoped it would help others decide. Thanks again and ride safe!

    My '16 RGU's previous owner installed a Rush header - ceramic coated in and out, no cat, and Rush Big Louie slip-ons with 2.5" baffles. Also Arlen Ness air cleaner and V&H FP-3 (no O2 sensors). The exhaust borders on too raspy so I'll need to repack the baffles. Sounds great, but I know the sound of blown out packing from my other bikes with similar baffles. I like my Guzzi LeMans LOUD but for my Glide a bit more subdued for travel will be welcome. I won't run either without baffles, the Guzzi (built) would break glass.

      I agree, no baffles are too loud for me as well. But they do sound great!

      @@traversingwindingpaths3288Well, I did pull the Rush baffles to check the packing and was very surprised to see it's all there. The Big Louie's with header and 2.5" baffle are just loud, similar to your no-baffle sound but more high end. I'll keep the header but will be on the lookout for something mellower for slip-ons.

    Are the sb2 bid Louie's , I have a 16 RG special west end recommended the sb2 as they have 3 in baffle on left and 2.5 in baffle on right .
    Great video with all the different sound bites too well done

      I'm not sure which ones these are exactly, but the baffles are both the same size as far as I know. Never thought to check, actually. And thanks for the kind words! Be safe!

    Looking at these slip ons for my 2017 M8 RGS, how happy are you with them? Sound is subjective to every ear but they sound almost like the CFR mufflers... Thoughts?

    • @traversingwindingpaths3288
      @traversingwindingpaths3288  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love them so far. I like the deep sound and they are similar to the CFR, but I think they are quieter than the CFR. That could just be because I still have the CAT in, though. Plus they are cheaper than the CFR's and are easier to find.

    how do you like riding with no baffles. especially on the highway. I have a 2012 SG and have the same exhaust set up.

    • @traversingwindingpaths3288
      @traversingwindingpaths3288  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I put the baffles back in, the droning was too loud in the helmet without them. I didn't try it without a full faced helmet, though.

    I'm assuming you still had stock head pipe?

    is there any resonance with this 4 inch and 2.50 inch baffle

    • @traversingwindingpaths3288
      @traversingwindingpaths3288  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't notice any. It is louder with a full face helmet, but not obnoxious at all. They're actually fairly quiet at speed until you crank the throttle.

    Rush has the worst customer service in the industry. Even worse when they are purchased from West End Motorsports. Do yourself a favor and use any other brand and retailer.

      I can't comment on that part, I bought the pipes in this video from someone on Ebay. The quality and sound of mine were great (I've since traded bikes), luckily I didn't need any customer service. I haven't decided yet what I'll use on the new bike.

      I found just the opposite . Don't know about W.E.M. Went only through Rush . They listened to my needs .Three days later the mufflers where at my door !!

    I truly appreciate your video! I have V/H head pipes “no cat” with Big Louise slip on’s and would so appreciate taking the baffles out I love that sound! But really want nothing to do with a tuner nor do I want to spend that much! I wish they could reflash or something but just looking around every says you need a tuner.

    • @traversingwindingpaths3288
      @traversingwindingpaths3288  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! It was a great excuse to ride and experiment. :) I'm not sure if they can just refresh for no baffles, but the Fuel Pack tuner was a breeze to use. It was somewhat expensive (for me, anyway), but it worked really well, and if I can figure it out.... haha

    • @erica3589
      @erica3589 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Couple questions for you did you buy a V/H fuelpak tuner. It seems to be the best out there.. it must just stay plugged in all the time then?

    • @erica3589
      @erica3589 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just re read what you said and got my answer lol thank you!

    • @traversingwindingpaths3288
      @traversingwindingpaths3288  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol no problem. It doesn’t have to be plugged in all the time, but it’s easier to leave it that way. Not that it’s hard to get in and out, but that way you can do the auto tune now and then just to make sure everything is still good. Plus you can do diagnostics with it, too.
