At 18:32 The reason for Karim's lover to meet him discreetly is because according to an interview from the creators "The position of the ^ Horns is complicated which Karim knows about, and if his lover is caught with him, she would lose her position in power."
Karim's problem is that he, as Harrowd warned, sees history as a narrative of strength, and thus associates compromise with weakness, whem really its just change.
01:40 hi, Ibis (yes, it is one of those little birds - you can see Ibis' marks pattern under the eyes) 04:15 yes, Gren is doing a fantastic job 05:07 pay close attention to Stella - she LOVES to copy her cuddle-mama 07:53 community service? 13:23 beheaded, burned alive, sacrificed to sunfire wolves.. damn, Naru, you're a savage 😱🤣 15:40 "old school"? Yeah, you could say that. Karim is definitely stuck in the past and they did hint at it! For example when he said "Sun's first, sister" and Janai answered "Can't you say good morning like a member of this century?" earlier in the episode 16:00 can we all give some appreciation for Janai here? For someone who spent years if not decades at the Border dealing with humans, and having her sister killed, she turns out to be very kind, compassionate and open-minded 17:37 earthblood elves: Scarmaker! meanwhile Soren: "I shall call you.. SqUeAkY" 😁 Oh, Soren, your heart is too pure for this world! Please never change ❤
I love seeing Callum being concerned about her because Rayla is being very patient with him. she gives him space when he asks for it; she's not pushing, not lashing out, while also being sweet and open for conversation (she is even open for him to come and kiss her - I'm sure she wouldn't mind). this must be very difficult for her because Rayla loves Callum sooo much. I mean from the short stories (which I really hope you'll read before season 5) we know that during these past 2 years she was CONSTANTLY thinking of him
I had already read the short story of Rayla's letter prior to S5, but I just read the rest of them and...wow. So much context for everyone, honestly. Kind of glad I waited until now to read the rest though because of some spoilers. Like the siren stone. Two of my favorites was the one of Zubeia and Zym and then the one of Soren and Viren.
@@NarujenReacts "Strangers" with Soren and Viren is definitely my favourite but I want to talk about Aaravos' stories. They gave us such a new and interesting perspective on him. In the first story "Patience" we find out that Aaravos hates other startouched elves and even calls them arrogant and cruel but WHY? And we also learn partially why he is doing what he is doing. He wants to shatter the world they build and then watch them fall from the sky but WHY!?? In the second story "Ripples" he tells about a star that fell from the sky. The fallen star created a sea. "The world had changed. Mountains had crumbled and left in their wake a vast new sea." You definitely already watched the first episode of season 5 so you know that the prison is located in the "Sea of the Castout" +*hint-hint*+. Pretty cruel choice of location if you ask me. Also in the illustration to this story we see Aaravos standing in the rain but it absolutely seems like he's *crying*! WHAT COULD POSSIBLY MAKE AARAVOS CRY??? These two stories made me re-evaluate my position on Aaravos and shift him from "definitely pure evil" to "possibly broken villain"
@@rayla17 I'll be honest. Aaravos's ones I scanned through since I already had a feeling he's more than just someone who's "mwuahahaha look at me I'm evil" and I didn't want to risk any spoilers of his motives lol. There's definitely more to him than meets the eye and I can't wait to find out more about him!
Personally I think both sides had a point and handled the situation poorly, but I do think the human architect was more at fault. - elf makes fire in a camp that can easily burn down and destroy their only home instead of going somewhere where its safe - the architect not making a safe place for the elves to do their special fires - apparently no one telling the architect they even have these, how would she even know she had to build it - architect tells the elf to put out the flame so the whole camp won't catch fire (reasonable request) which the elf responds to with "who are you? What place does a human have, telling me what to do?" (ignoring that he is causing a threat to the whold camp and instead going for the why would i listen to a human) - she responds that she's the architect of this camp and has built half of it with her own hands I would say up until this point the human was being completely reasonable and the elf wasnt, but then it turns the other way around - elf explains the purpose of the sacred flame and that it has to burn all night (could've said this at the beginning, but makes sense that he doesn't want to put it out) - human says nothing gets to burn through the night! (No empathy, locigally the least risky way to solve the problem. But disregarding the importance of the flame to the elf) - elf starts begging her to let the flame burn, says he will watch it all night so nothing happens (Sounds very risky, but I feel for him, honestly I don't know much about fires, but i do know that fire is fast and dangerous, and not everyone in the camp is fireproof, not even every sunfire elf. So not only would the home but also the people be in danger) - human responds with calling it a superstition and that they can't endanger everyone because of it (calling it a superstition is mean, ignorant and not logical, they live in a magical world, why would it just be a superstition? Still right on the endangering part though) - human calls the elves ungrateful, says we humans are here to help you rebuild and wants him to put the flame out Honestly at this point I don't see a way to solve this problem. It's too late. The flame already burns, he doesn't want to put it out, and it's a threat to the camp. I thought of carrying the flame thing somewhere else but that would also put the camp at risk
Part 2: - elf says he can't put it out - human responds that then she'll do it for him and puts the flame out (mean, heartless, horrible for the elf, but best for the camp) - elf breaks down sobbing, human is kinda shocked or sad I'm not sure I'm autistic, so I think she underestimated how much it meant for him - elf gets overwhelmed with anger and grief and burns her hands (must've hurt terribly, I feel bad for both) - human is crying and elf is shocked about what he did I would say the elf caused the problem, the problem was unsolvable (for both parties) and the human solved it in an unnecessary hurtful way So the elf caused the problem and the human caused the most hurt. But then the elf also caused hurt. Personally I don't understand why the elf was deemed completely innocent since he endangered the whole camp and a lot of people in it. If the human had not seen the flame and the camp would've caught fire, they would've lost their home AGAIN, people would've DIED, both humans AND sunfire elves. How did that decision go undiscussed? - elf caused threat to whole camp and a lot of people - human caused a lot of hurt to 1 elf I think Janai's decision was good. She found a solution for the Future and listened to both sides
Spider Ez, Spider Ez! You can tell he was a nuisance as a kid because he can climb things he definitely shouldn't be climbing. He is a good diplomat for Rayllum, but I kinda wish he hadn't interrupted them. "Heated argument suddenly devolving into an angry makeout session" would be a good trope for them. xD Callum still has to work through his feelings, but yeah, it's obvious how much he still cares about Rayla. As soon as she seems to be in distress, he is immediately concerned and nothing else ... Also, Karim is a drama queen! He should go and do some Shakespeare in the park or whatever, not try his hand at politics.
Great reaction! I loved the part where the stuff happened. I also loved when that thing that happened actually happened! Awesome! My favorite part was when the character said the thing that they said! I love this show that I totally know the name of!
