The slow burn towards Wardlow turning on MJF is one of the low key best stories AEW is telling currently. Very reminiscent of Batista’s slow burn to turning on Evolution. But with Shawn Spears playing the Flair peacekeeper role. I think J.R. nails it every time he mentions Wardlow being the future of the business.

If you think Wardlow looked bad in this match, especially when Punk couldn't even stand up after the match and Wardlow was standing strong and powerful after the match, then I think you need to re watch the match; and pay better attention to what happened in the match the second time around.

He looked incredibly strong by manhandling a major superstar in CM Punk throughout this match. It's not like if someone loses they are buried and if someone wins they get pushed. It's not that simple. AEW is telling a story here. Wardlow is the star of this story. Punk merely got the fluke pin. Wardlow demolished Punk throughout the match. Punk sold well for Wardlow; and Wardlow looked like a total beast. Punk looks like the crafty veteran who barely escaped with a lucky win while Wardlow looks like a monster who could destroy Punk without MJF getting in the way of his success. This is solid storytelling from AEW. No one got buried in this match. Wardlow didn't need the official victory- he needed to shine bright in this match regardless of the outcome of the match- and he did that in a big, impressive way.

Wardlow's 5 Powerbomb Combo is called "The Symphony" I dig it. I love it when wrestlers take common moves or finishers and just add something to it and make it their own. Kinda like the buckshot lariat. It's just a lariat but combine it with a springboard slingshot and it becomes a whole new move and finisher.

The fact that Punk got a desperate hail Mary pin on Wardlow and couldn't even stand up afterwards allows Wardlow to look very strong even in defeat. This is some really strong storytelling from AEW. I'm definitely excited to see where this story goes from here.

The beauty of 95 was Bret never took a power bomb. Diesel is out smarted when not going for the kill. This match was DC comic superhero fodder.

Really liked the finish. Keep Punks record for bigger occasion, and made Wardlow looked super strong. Essentially the loss is on MJF.

Wardlow's 5 Powerbomb Combo is called "The Symphony" I dig it. I love it when wrestlers take common moves or finishers and just add something to it and make it their own. Kinda like the buckshot lariat. It's just a lariat but combine it with a springboard slingshot and it becomes a whole new move and finisher.
It should be the Powerbomb Pentalogy. :-p I've been saying he should up it to five and call it that.

Yeah, I love how they showed that Wardlow had Punk beat until MJF interfered to serve his own personal bloodlust against CM Punk. The fact that Punk got a desperate hail Mary pin on Wardlow and couldn't even stand up afterwards allows Wardlow to look very strong even in defeat. This is some really strong storytelling from AEW. I'm definitely excited to see where this story goes from here.
They made Wardlow look too weak to kick out of a small package from a skinny little guy who shook off 8 of his power bombs to beat him. Bad story telling.

Man CM Punk made wardlow look like a god. Even Brock lesnar didn’t beat him up this much in their Summerslam match. I would love to see wardlow booked like batista at his peak after evolution.

That Brock Lesnar summerslam match is one of my absolute favorite cm punk matches and it stole the show for me when i first watched it.
