    Thanks it makes total sense in Sweden the water is drinkable and it doesn’t make sense buying steriliser for bottles and wasting $$$

    I always wondered what was the point in sterilizing when you don't sterilize the mother's breast before putting the baby to suck from it. The hard dry surface of the baby bottle will not have much germs compared to the warm moist surface of a woman's breast. Also, watching babies putting their fists and everything else into their mouths, I am sure those have way more germs than a baby bottle. I now realize the advice came from decades ago when water and baby bottles were a lot less safer than they are today. I never sterilized my son's feeding equipment and he's still fine after 2 years. Soap and water is good enough.

    I only sterilized all of my 1st babies bottles after opening them before 1st use. After that, I only washed them after every feeding and didn’t bother sterilizing again

    I keep on sterilizing my baby's bottles and you're right it's really time consuming but of course as a first time mom I wanna make sure that I do everything properly for my baby's health and safety. Well, thanks a lot for this! God bless...😊

    Oh this is such a relief to hear, sterilized all feeding items for my first child for a year, and I just started introducing food to my 5 months old baby. I sterilize his items as well but sometimes it’s exhausting. I guess all that time isn’t necessary. Thank you doctor for this information.

    Thank you very much for the informative video, my wife and I really appreciate it. We were always of the mindset that microorganisms are around us and that it's basically futile to try to sterilize the environment, even worse if we attempt to it may be detrimental to our child's immune system. Have a Happy Thanksgiving

    I usually boil some water in a kettle place the bottles in a bowl with some salt then pour the boiling over it and keep them there for fifteen to twenty minutes just once a day is that fine to do.

    What are your thoughts on powdered infant formula for a newborn? Should the water used to mix the formula be boiled, bottled or tap? Also, does the water have to be boiled then cooled to 180 degrees before mixing the formula in to sterilize it?

    • @KidsHealthByDrTahir
      @KidsHealthByDrTahir  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Michelle Tardif hi! Just use water you drink. If you don’t have to boil water to drink it you won’t need to boil water for your baby’s formula

    • @dumbblone36
      @dumbblone36 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Family Pediatrics Thanks for your response Dr. I assumed that powdered formula might have potentially harmful bacteria and thought that sterilizing was necessary.

      If a baby is a full term with normal development and immune system with community sanitized water source no need to boil formula. NO WELL WATER

    I have a question 🙋‍♂️
    I am using the tablet method to sterilize the bottles as follow: I put the tablet in water and I leave the bottles in that water till I use them, which means I do not dry the bottle.
    Is this (not drying the bottle) ok?

    I realize you can't give medical advice exactly but in general for a 4 week preterm babyshe seems to have very painful uncomfortable and infant intestinal gas specifically in the evening hours. Do you think sterilization would be worth the time

    • @khushboo6717

      I think burping her before and after feed.. and if you are using formula then taking right quantity of powder and water would be fair enough.

    Hi Dr. Tahir, my husband and I are planning for a baby and I hope that you could answer my question. Which is better, a cloth diaper or regular diaper?

    • @lobzangcholdan3691
      @lobzangcholdan3691 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cloth is cheaper and better for environment. More natural for babies skin but not always as absorbent. Cloth has an initial big $ investment but quickly pays for itself. It also takes a few more steps and effort but only you can decide if this is something you can manage with your lifestyle. Good luck

    Please tell me my baby was born 2.34 kg and he is now 1 month. We are feeding him mother milk after pumping through pump and giving that milk to baby in feeding bottle, so is it safe for my baby to drink through bottle as we are hearing that it damages baby's mind and can we also give him formula milk at this early stage?

    • @amnakazmi3245

    • @ecstaticb
