I love this family and all the blessings they brought to me and others. Wow! 77 years! For those of you left in the Speer family lineage, we appreciate the Speer Family Singers and you.
I was there that night...what an awesome outpouring of love to this family...the handshake and hug procession seemed to last forever..Brock was getting in bad shape at that time too, I got his autograph, he was pretty shaky in doing so, but meeting and talking to this family is a sweet memory...I even got to set near Rosa Nell during a shape note singing there that year..
My 5th Great Grandfather was James Speer from Washington County, Virginia. Never got to meet any, but, this family has meant a lot too many of us, and I grew up listening to them as a teen. Thank you, for your music and how you honored Our Lord...Amen.
My wife and in our early years of marriage were very fortunate to get to see and hear the Speer family. We really enjoyed hearing mom and dad Speer singing and praising God. What a special time....
Listening to this tonight after hearing of Faye Speers death today. She's on to be with husband, Brock and Mom & Dad Speers. This is a great remembrance of their career in gospel music. Thanks for the post.
they sang together so well even at their advanced ages. so sad this gospel music family are at home with Jesus except Ben. he still sings with gaither homecoming. rest in peace Brock, Mary tom, rose, and Faye. you are truly missed.

So very missed. Listened to them as a child and adult. Gospel Music lost legends of Southern Gospel here.
WOOOOW!!!! I didn't think Faye Speer EVER sang by herself. I've neve heard her (I didn't even think she COULD sing alone)

Branden Blackwell Brock Speer was gone by NQC 1999. He died March 1999 if I am not mistaken.

Brock would die less than a year later. The other three all lived at least another 15 years. It's a shame they didn't keep singing.
