This is my first time hearing Sue sing with the Speers. What a beautiful voice! I've enjoyed hearing her on the Gaither Homecoming Videos, and knew she was a powerful singer, but she sounds so good with this song. Keep on singing and shouting, Sue!!
Long years ago when out in sin I had no hope no peace within Down on my knees in agony I prayed to Jesus and He gladly set me free I never shall forget the day And all the burdens of my soul were rolled away It made me happy, be glad and free I'll sing and shout it, God means everything to me Now I can feel, him at my side My fewer steps, he comes to guide When trials come, he comforts me To faith in him or sin I have a victory I never shall forget the day And all the burdens of my soul were rolled away It made me happy, be glad and free I'll sing and shout it, God means everything to me Oh, sinner come to Jesus now At His dear feet just humbly bow Confess to Him your every sin He'll save and cleanse you, give you peace and joy within I never shall forget the day And all the burdens of my soul were rolled away It made me happy, be glad and free.
Go back and watch some videos of when she was with The Downings and The Speers from the late 60s to mid 70s. She definitely looked like she came from the pageant world, and that smile is still electric today even as she’s now in her 70s…
Comments less cruel than this drove Karen Carpenter to anorexia. A girl gets on a platform and some people think her only measure of worth is her physical measurements. When will we learn?
I remember this song well.❤
Sue Dodge can really sing!! :) So love her.
H
Sue could really belt'em out.. effortlessly.. And you couldn't help but smile while she did it!
She's still alive and still singing. :) She's amazing!
I saw the Speers in concert many times when they came to the St. Louis area back in the seventies and early eighties. We had a great time.
Sue Dodge really owns this song.

Long years ago when out in sin
I had no hope no peace within
Down on my knees in agony
I prayed to Jesus and He gladly set me free
I never shall forget the day
And all the burdens of my soul were rolled away
It made me happy, be glad and free
I'll sing and shout it, God means everything to me
Now I can feel, him at my side
My fewer steps, he comes to guide
When trials come, he comforts me
To faith in him or sin I have a victory
I never shall forget the day
And all the burdens of my soul were rolled away
It made me happy, be glad and free
I'll sing and shout it, God means everything to me
Oh, sinner come to Jesus now
At His dear feet just humbly bow
Confess to Him your every sin
He'll save and cleanse you, give you peace and joy within
I never shall forget the day
And all the burdens of my soul were rolled away
It made me happy, be glad and free.
