No matter what song Patsy sings, you can feel the depth of character in how she sings it. She was a real vocal artist. She's my favorite singer. Also, there is some attractive quality in Patsy herself.. someone who would be nice to hang out with.
He made that show the classic that it is.. Still airing in 2020.. And, John Ritter was pretty awesome in everything he did.. His dark turn in ' bride of chucky ', and the episode of buffy, titled ' ted '.. problem child 1 & 2!!

One time in the mid 60s on Sundays we'd go to the NCO Club at Ft Belvoir, Va..it was a special by Tex Ritter & his band..my Da who was into Country music was especially looking forward to seeing Tex Ritter. Well he brought his family And all the kids of families there hooked up with his 2 sons, one being John Ritter ...we played and walked around the NCO club doing what young kids do, talking and mostly being entertained by John who became the leader of us kids that day. ..great memories
Patsy Cline was the queen of the lovelorn blues. What a voice ,She wrote so many songs in such a short lifetime.RIP. She is an icon, like Marilyn Monroe now.
Idk if she wrote her songs? That wouldn't at all take away from how amazing she was, I'm just curious I guess, cuz I wasn't aware she actually wrote any of her songs?

Winchester Virginia. 9-8-32 the amazing Patsy Cline 3-5-63. Be gone for nearly 60 years now and that lady can still bring a tear to ones eye. Instantly recognizable and never equaled her delivery and inflection and unique beauty. Well it leaves me awestruck.
My brother and I drove from West Virginia to visit her grave. Her voice had a ringing quality that I've never heard in any white singer. Just lovely. Unique in the true meaning of unique. Plane crash: Piper Comanche, N7000P. Patsy Cline, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Cowboy Copas, Randy Hughes. Hughes was Patsy's manager and the pilot. Not instrument-rated. He was concerned about the weather and stopped to call his wife, who told him the sun was shining in Nashville, so he pressed on in the face of bad weather. Without instrument competency, he lost control in the clouds and crashed, killing everyone.
I can't even believe he is gone...one of the most talented, and handsome singers ever.My mom saw him perform in Milwaukee, Wi. when he still wore white...she was dressed all in black and he stepped on her finger, ( she had her hand on the stage), ...he soon after started wearing black... ;)

Her facial expressions and purity of raw feelings are beyond belief! The guy in the white cowboy hat playing banjo and the double neck guitar behind Bobby Helms is Joe Maphis who was known as the "King of The Strings". He was lead guitar player for Ricky Nelson before Ricky hired James Burton. It is Maphis playing on Nelson's early hits "BeBop Baby", "Waitin' In School" and "Stood Up" among others.
Tex Ritter's Mom and my great grandmother were sisters. I had the pleasure of sitting on Tex lap as a child. It's a memory I will never forget. He visited my grandparents a few times
I remember going to see the show in 1955 and it was just like this one. I loved it. We would ride the bus up to Compton from the Navy Base in San Diego. Those were wonderful carefree days.
The show was held every Saturday night live at a building called the Town Hall, carried live by TV station KTTV. Across the street was Jerry's BBQ restaurant you where would see some of the entertainers after the show.
Wonderful! The smooth and bluesy Patsy Cline, Bobby Helms, Jingle bell rock immortality, The sweet, soulful balad "Special Angel " soars. Johnny Cash young and pure. All talented, having fun. Thankyou 😊

A young handsome Johnny Cash. I had never seen Patsy Cline perform. It's easy to see why she was so popular. Patsy also comes across as a strong woman.
Back in my radio DJ days, I had the thrill of having a cup of coffee with Tex Ritter and Waylon Jennings just before one their concerts. Waylon was griping that Chet Atkins wouldn't let him record what he wanted and Tex was giving him the wise council of his many years in show biz to relax and enjoy blossoming career! A favorite memory of my young radio DJ days!

My now deceased mom loved Patsy Cline. I know because while looking at the family scrapbook, she had cut out the newspaper article about Ms. Cline's tragic death in a plane crash. That's a fan!
They're all very talented but Patsy Cline? She's on a whole other level. No one can sing like her. Probably the best vocalist in country, folk, rock, pop, soul, R&B, even opera. The way she puts soooo much feeling in her voice. Here and there a slight cry, slight yodel, slight pause, all perfectly timed. No one can duplicate that.
Perfect instinct for musical phrasing. I bet she never planned or knew what she'd do out there during a performance. Although she was obviously completely in control.
"...even opera..." Uh, look, I love Patsy Cline, too, but the demands that opera places upon singers is absolutely unreal. Add to that the requirement for being in costume (sometimes extremely elaborate with period stays, corsets, etc.) and acting and being on the stage for hours.
Larry Collins on Double Neck was an incredibly talented kid! Ranch Party was an awesome show featuring many great guests of the time. We had a few 16mm films when I was a boy. And of course, Tex Ritter.
+Joseph Kressley Don't forget Johnny Bond, Fiddlin' Kate, Skeets McDonald, and the king of the strings (Larry Collin's instructor) Joe Maphis. Les "Carrot Top" Anderson and Sons of the Pioneers were always great too. This whole show featured amazing performers...though I wasn't too wild on the Hoosier Hotshots when they showed up.
Patsy Cline was considered to be the best over all singer in country music, as far as pure skill and technique is concerned, and that is still true to this day. Not saying she is everyone's favorite, everyone has their own favorite songs. I am just saying what many music teachers and musicians have said, about her skill level and technique.
Patsy Cline and I tell you what I go to the lady and borrow say hey man I got Patsy Cline records at the house and she's come right on over and we have a good old time I'll just let you know the music of Patsy Cline really brought the girls back to my place I was always always love Patsy Cline just to let you know that and this is 25-30 years ago and I'm 67 now and I ain't got no records of Patsy Cline but I'm sure as heck trying
They must have rehearsed many hours to present such a good show. All the music, vocal and instrumental, is top notch. The costumes are beautiful. The simple sets let the talent shine through, even if budget was a consideration. There was not a single mention or sign of a sponsor, at a time when sponsors plastered their names all over. I guess the show was bought by individual stations rather than broadcast by a network. Imagine so much talent in the same place and time!
I am a 49 year old black man who knows nothing about country music but I know about Patsy Cline....the best of the best!
The Queen of Winchester, Virginia!
But if you're a football fan & happened to watch Monday Night Football (esp. when on ABC) you probably know their opening theme by Hank Williams, Jr.😁
Patsy is the best! You have great taste, Shawn!

Johnny Cash with my baby Larry love to hear him say he's gone now now I can't help but listen to every one of his oh how I love
Patsy, you left us too soon. May you rest in peace. You and your music will NEVER be forgotten!!
+Brett “SonicBlu” Blumfield Couldn't agree more! Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two guest starred as well.
I thought that was Johnny Bond singing at the beginning. Am I correct?
Absolutely...what a talent!
Why wasn't Larry more main stream popular?? IHe seems to have Elvis calibar charisma and talent!
*"Dorothy Wright!"*-- like a breath of fresh air- hearing this BEAUTIFUL young lady sing- *"Just A Closer Walk With Thee!!"*
Amazing!!!! pure and clear ...
It’s great to watch a show that was on the year. I was born.
Patsy Cline was considered to be the best over all singer in country music, as far as pure skill and technique is concerned, and that is still true to this day. Not saying she is everyone's favorite, everyone has their own favorite songs. I am just saying what many music teachers and musicians have said, about her skill level and technique.
Michael Craig Actually she is my favorite female country singer of all time as well as being all the things you mention.
110% the best *singer* in the world.
She is my favorite not for her singing but for here popularity still among history buffs in the Winchester Va area
Patsy Cline- THE best....all anyone needs to do is take a listen! R.I.P. from CT.
And mind: no electronic magic to help them thru their performance, to cover up their weak spots. They seemingly had none!
A good set of observations.
They've got both kinds of music -- Western and Country!
