People complaining about the bland character made me thought who are good first person protagonists? I mean you have iconic characters that don't talk like Gordon or the Slayer, but in a game where choice matters or at least are made and you somehow are part of the main character's development, that's not essentially a bad thing but it does leave the character empty since you're the crutch that develops the character. Therefore, I guess that's to be expected?

double the sandbox mechanics from crafting, PRG, combat, and then environmental storytelling, random encounters, that filled the amount of activities that keeps the world thriving, and now dynamic writing or dynamic quests, a great example of a sequel by improving the previous and adding a new one. hoping for arena mode and new game+ with increased level cap.

Good enough for me, man. I'm only playing single player anyways and Dying Light is one of my favorite games. Hopefully the day 1 patch fixes some of the stuff you mentioned. I'd also like to see better resolution / optimization eventually, like 1440p 60 FPS for performance mode on the Series X. A fast action 1st person game like this truly benefits from 60 FPS so I won't play any other mode, personally, and 1080p is a bit of a letdown. Still getting it though!

I think people have forgotten that story in a game doesn't need to be grrm levels of complex and award winning, story can also be there just for the sake of it like in doom.
Yep. It's like people who claim Monster Hunter needs a better story. Why? The story exists as nothing more than a thin veil as to why you're hunting monsters, and matters the first 10 hours of most people's 150+ hours playthrough.
No different than the poor, welfare gamers who think that every game should be 1000hrs since they can only afford a couple of games a year..Yet their entitlement dictates that they should be able to play every game the instant they want as if gaming is a need in life rather than the reality where gaming is a want.....
@@Death_MTL_Dude exactly. A select group of youtubers and a dev/game test team can only do so much. It really comes down to the millions of consumers with wildly different experiences to bring up the many small issues any one game could have.
@@Death_MTL_Dude that's kind of why I don't see the point of "review" videos before a game comes out. Let it simmer for a few days or maybe weeks and then see how it looks. A day 1 patch could do a surprising amount when the tech team knows what to look for.
I’m not worried. The first one was released to “meh” reviews, but then was heralded as an amazing addition to the genre. Multiplayer looks amazing to tromp around with my friends exploring and laughing.
My favorite part of this games audio is when it transitions to day and night. The ambience of it is really neat. You can hear the survivors waking up with chickens and telling everyone to get their asses up. You can hear the creatures from the night run back to their hiding spaces. It begs the question of who really owns the space youre in
In ACG we trust! Honestly, I don't always agree with everything ACG concludes but his final conclusion always weighs a lot whether I buy or not. If I am unsure I often try a scene release (or demo if possible) before deciding, and with few exceptions ACG was completely right. Definitely the best game reviewer on TH-cam, and honestly, probably the best overall. I just wanted you to know that, ACG. You do excellent work and I wanted to thank you.
Sadly Cowboy isn't doing a traditional walk-through with this one he's doing streams but I always appreciate Karak spreading the word of other youtubers before even promoting himself, the best.
I wholeheartedly respect and appreciate your transparency with this review. You and SkillUp are my go-to reviewers but sometimes, I feel like whenever SkillUp gets a bit too friendly with the devs, his judgement call often gets fuzzy. For example: he played it off like Cyberpunk had no game-breaking bugs in his review, only mentioning the sparseness of the map itself. Apart from that, thank you, Karak! =)
Skill up feels more like an essay writer than a critic imo. He has some good ones. But like you said, sometimes he gets too friendly and it might mess with his ability to be objective.
@@derekcampbell4209 Exactly, man. Given how much praise SkillUp constantly gave Digital Extremes in his reviews, he was the one that got me into Warframe. I poured in so many hours into it until giving up on it completely a year later. I actually really respect you not scoring the game, rather just giving us your raw thoughts. A lot of reviewers will want to just give us there headline takeaway, but I got more from your review then say IGN. I actually watched his review like wow they failed, but watching yours I at least left with the feeling of "this could actually be great with a little work, especially considering the 5 year plan." Thank you.
I recommend it especially for fans of the first. Playing on XSX and everything he mentioned that would be a con has been fixed or I haven’t had any issues. Honestly, the way games have been releasing lately I’m surprised with how well it’s running and impressed that it’s a lot better than I was expecting.
Thanks for sharing your detailed experience with Dying Light 2 so far Karak! Been spending the better part of about 2 hours reading reviews from sites and such, but I'm glad to finally hear your detailed thoughts on it. Although some say this game getting a 75% on OpenCritic is a deal-breaker for them, I feel like this is something I'm definitely gonna enjoy for the rest of the month (with Sifu too next week) especially because I'm neither a fan of Elden Ring nor considering about getting Horizon Forbidden West. Hope the co-op gets fixed ASAP though because that's one of this game's huge selling point.
I also don't want Elven ring or horizon but what comes out 4 days after this game??....OLLIOLLI WORLD! that's the only other game I'm excited for this month and we get the steam deck feb 25🙌🙌

For me, if the game is not finished at its launch, or has game breaking bugs, it is an automatic wait for a sale. It's not on you ACG to cover for devs who cant have the game be launched on the launch day.

Karak, THANK you for realizing/stressing the importance of the co-op. Honestly this looks like Assassins Creed (but 1st person), Chivalry, and a zombies game mixed together. And that sounds 👌 🔥. It's like why play AC when you can get something even better?
I bought it and I highly doubt I'll regret it. I played dying light from it's launch up until basically last week. I wouldn't play it for 20 hours a week all this time but I usually played it like twice a month for a couple hours each time. The original launched a little buggy but it was fixed pretty quickly. The visuals for the 1st game and this one we're designed for hardware not even out yet. I had a 290x when it launched then I upgraded to a GTX 1080fe and I still couldn't play maxed out at 4k60. Then I got a 2080ti ftw3 ultra and it was amazing. Now I have a 3080ti FTW3 Ultra and a ryzen 5800x with 32 gigs of dual rank dual channel 4000mhz CL14-14-14-34 so I think I'll be fine at 4k with DLSS. Then when new GPU's come out I'll upgrade and run it with RT on. Of course there is a new trick found by Alex at digital and that combining nVidia's new upscaler and DLSS on top of it. He talks about it in his God of war video.
This is why I trust your reviews more than any other TH-camr. You straight up say you cannot fully review the game because part of it doesn't work, and the various bugs that will supposedly be fixed in a day 1 patch. The TH-camrs recommending it, even with all its issues prelaunch, I just don't trust.
Considering how I fell in love with Dying Light 1 because of the gameplay and parkour, having shitty story and characters isn't a deal-breaker. They are a disappointment tho, because the marketing did hype them up. You could call it misleading marketing... But technically the game having choices that have an "impact" is still true to an extent.

Keep it up man! So far, I have no reason not to trust your opinions. Done good by us all brother.

The world is more of a mystery the way d1 presented its information to you was better and felt more intriguing

Since I generally don't care much for multiplayer, I think that in its current state the game seems to be quite good. I already preordered and preloaded the game on steam. Just 1 more day to go. I really enjoyed the first game, and to be honest I never realized that people felt that the story was bad. I just enjoyed the gameplay so much that I didn't care about the story. It is by far the best zombie game I have played, and from the looks of it, Dying light 2 will be even better.

Still no need to be so defensive or aggressive and completely dismissive of opinions different from yours but hey you do you. Writing and story was trash so were most characters. Still fun drop kicking zombies off rooftops though.
double the sandbox mechanics from crafting, PRG, combat, and then environmental storytelling, random encounters, that filled the amount of activities that keeps the world thriving, and now dynamic writing or dynamic quests, a great example of a sequel by improving the previous and adding a new one. hoping for arena mode and new game+ with increased level cap.
They should add legend levels to dl2
And maybe fix the resolution and fps
@@philipg1721 yea heard they added denuvo 2 days before releasing the game, so maybe that's why it's tanking the performance.

So if they fix even the major issues like falling through the floor, ill be happy.
I love how you tell it like it is. I love your honesty. I always trust your word and it has yet to let me down. Never change.
This sounds about as I figured. I really liked the first game, and I know Techland puts a lot of heart in their games. I played Dying Light later after most of the original bugs and glitches were patched and I still ended up having some game breakers. I will probably hold for a few months before scooping this one up and give it a chance to marinate a little. Looking forward to it though!

Yeah thats keeping me from buying it just too use to the higher fps
What are you talking about?,I play this on 4k native at 120fps on my series X.Of course my monitor costs me around 1.500€ (a 38gl950g-Nano IPS,LG) but if you want results you have to drop bills baby, you can't expect 4 k at 60+fps on a normal 300€ "4k" TV,it's absurd.

Amazing video! I appreciate you blurring out subtitles and mission objectives to avoid spoilers!

Thank you for the review, looking forward to putting metal to the pedal and watching the AI go nuts, once the save state issue is resolved
