@fegyo007 most of the things you described weren't ever the draw of dead island, di2 perfectly encapsulates what a lot of people loved about the original dead island. It's more of a love letter to the original than an attempt to be something brand new

I like how the title just tells us to “Buy” the game. I’m glad it actually released, especially given how long it’s been since the original announcement.
Sometimes a game doesn't need to be amazing, or offer anything new and so on. Sometimes it just needs to deliver what it promises in a good, entertaining experience and that seems to be what Dead Island 2 does. It's also nice to see a zombie game that out in bright sunshine and picturesque locations, instead of the usual dark and grim ones.
I think that scales with price. Seems like a great fit for subscription or in the 30-40 price range, but the "fun, but not amazing" tagline is a tough one at full price.
I strongly agree, if a game has a high fun factor that should be the main reason to get it. Entertaining and resourceful like always and is why I look forward to your reviews, never change! 👍🏻

Seems like more of the same which is exactly what us Dead Island fans wanted. The only omission I see here is no drivable vehicles which is a bit of an odd choice, but it's not the end of the world.
Since it's less open world and more HUB oriented, I'd say that's why they made that choice. None of the open areas are large enough to drive a vehicle anyway
I honestly never thought this game would come out. Glad to see it make it. Loved the first one. Glad to hear it's a more "focused" experience. 25 hours is a great length for a game. I'm honestly tired of games that go on and on just filled to the brim with meaningless "tasks"

Glad this game actually came out. Remember hearing about it coming out soon like 5 years ago and then nothing for years, now it's actually out and looks pretty good.
Amazing graphics, fun gameplay, and general goofiness, it's great. Just a lot of fun all around, and I love a game that doesn't take itself seriously. This definitely feels like a Friday afternoon sunny day kinda game, the kind that just lets you sit back and smile a bit.
I dont necessarily require an open world system in every game but I thought perhaps it might have been really beneficial for a game like dead island 2. Zomboid is a PC game that is still undefeated in my opinion with the setting, immersion and survival sense
I'm happy this game is good. Maybe one day I'll get it but I chose jedi survivor over this. Looks really fun though. Amazing review as always. I know you meant "it has a 360 feel sometimes" as a bad thing, but honestly it kinda made me want it even more lol.
Thanks for another great review brother! I shared on twitter cuz its getting harder and harder to find honest folks on this platform and I appreciate you!
I think this game will provide a lot more fun in a way of zombie killing than Dying Light 2. In DL2, they've changed the original formula too much, perhaps trying to boost RPG elements, but that kinda sucked out a lot of fun from the zombie killing itself. So while Dying Light 1 was a lot of fun, I think Dead Island 2 will destroying Dying Light 2 in terms of how fun is the zombie killing.
After playing this game, found that DL2 was way superior. The performance, graphics and gore are fantastic on dead island 2 but the areas are awful, missions are awful, all that reconnecting wire stuff and gas valves gets boring, way overused. The melee is pretty poor, you do the same 3 attacks over and over to enemy sponges until you start getting late level upgrades but once you have that you've realised the games repetitive and boring.
@@thedarkriddler7318 Thanks for your input. I will wait for sale on Dead Island 2 and only then will play it with my buddies. Regarding Dying Light 2 it really is a shame they´ve changed the formula too much compared to DL1.

Hi Karak. Recently came across your channel (international podcast). Walk in the walk videos are interesting and game reviews are awesome. Keep on keeping on bro
Been waiting for this game since 2011. It's been 12 years and it's finally releasing in a just a few more hours. I'm looking forward to maining Dani and Jacob. Dani is one hell of a femme Fatale!
Honestly looks really fun :) Glad too hear it's a good time. As a former So Cal resident I am very curious how they handle L.A. and it's possible surrounding areas. The gore system looks amazing. Also that riot cop zombie's grenades triggering after you hit his vest was pretty awesome.
I really appreciate that you are putting the rating in the titles now! Still watching, but now I like to watch to see why instead of looking for the rating.
This one seems to have taken most people by surprise because of it's development history. I don't think anyone expected this game to turn out as well as it seemingly has. To come out in the state it did, finished, not bogged down by microtransactions and seemingly legitimately fun is nothing short of a miracle in the world of modern gaming. That's sad to even type, but we all know it's true. I'm too broke to afford the game right now as things have been difficult in life recently. That said I hope to try it in the future as it looks like a genuinely good time. Thanks for the review as always!
Another great review man, hella comprehenisive and helpful. I'm actually looking forward to this. It's rare when a game doesnt try to hide what it is. Just a straight forward fun, zombie slasher. I feel like too many AAA games try too hard to be everything to everyone and consequently, isnt anything to anyone.
The melee looks a little floaty and awkward, but it really does look pretty fun. Maybe not the homerun some people wanted, but definitely something I could see myself playing.
Been waiting forever for this, not quite what I was expecting from all those years ago. Will continue to wait until a sale on Steam though. Glad to finally have your review out, keep em coming!
With this new card based perk system how did you feel about the sense of progression through your playthrough? Do you feel the game would have benefited more having the skill tree system of the previous titles?
I'm glad a large reviewer genuinely likes this game. Ive looked at ALOT of other reviews. Most say its painfully average or trashing it in more areas than it deserves. Idk if its just me or not, but i see something more in this game than anyone else seems to see. When i think of all the zombie games ive ever played, this really is at the top in terms of quality AND fun factor. I can't fault it anywhere at all really.... The visuals are amazing (especially the gore system and particle effects). The sound design is top tier. (I think the artificial sound you ran into on PC, may have just been an issue on PC itself, as on consoles, the sound design is perfect). The environments have a crazy amount of detail (which is why the more linear HUB setting does suit the game well. It makes you want to search every corner). The variety of enemies, and the lack of running into the same looking enemies often is great. The sheer variety of weapons and modifications add to the varied combat system aswell. Not varied in the sense of moves or animations, but varied in terms of approach or each combat scenario. Every weapon feels different, and you could just run around for hours bashing zombies without doing anything else. The ambience is perfect. All together the game just feels levels above something like dead rising 4 or even dying light 2 (which seems to be its main competitor within the zombie videogame market). I see people saying not to compare the two, but they really are the perfect 2 games to compare. Theyre so similar in their fundamentals but both take severely different routes in the ways they carry out the style of the game. Dead island 2 leaning more into the fun factor and not taking itself too seriously. Dying light 2 leaning into the serious horror aspects more. I just think overall dead island 2 beats it in every aspect, after having finished both games. I do hope they make a 3. And dont change much at all.... other than maybe less comedic lines thrown in by the main character. And Some more content (50 hours is good, thats completing 95% of the game, but id love to get another 50 out of it). Id say its a solid 9/10 game.
Great review but a small correction. Cross gen play for hosting multiplayer can also be done with a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X. It just can’t be done with the ‘base’ previous gen consoles.
I loved the first one, but its been so long, i really dont remember it. What i do remember is fun zombie smashing, and this looks like that. I dont need every game to be this 300 hour opus. Another great vid! Now i need to smash some zombies!
I absolutely loved Dead Island 1 and been eagerly awaiting this sequel. Thanks for the great video and as usual your candid opinion. I think I'll get this soon
Will definitely get it once it's on Steam. Finally, a game with zombies where zombies themselves are the main villains. Hopefully Dying Light's next expansion will take queues from this.
Love the review as always! I do want to offer a suggestion. Some of the readability on the text in your videos is rough. If used something like the font and color of your logo. It'd be much easier to see.

With this new card based perk system how did you feel about the sense of progression through your playthrough? Do you feel the game would have benefited more having the skill tree system of the previous titles?
The most unrealistic thing about this game is people from LA *walking* around LA. That would never happen apocalypse or not 🙅🏾♂️
love your reviews dude. my purchasing decisions sometimes hinges on what you say because you know what's good.
I cannot believe that this game isn't garbage given it's development history and being in development hell. Glad to hear it's a fun experience.
Agreed its a surprise
And seeing the dev's history.
You didn’t give us the verdict, buy? Wait for sale?
Brother it says buy dead island 2
@@blackt33thdevil My man it literally says it in the title
Great review but a small correction. Cross gen play for hosting multiplayer can also be done with a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X. It just can’t be done with the ‘base’ previous gen consoles.
Epic "exclusive"? Yeah... I'll wait / skip.
Well i will wait when epic put it in the free games loll
I never played the first Dead Island, I was more of a dying light fan, but I'd be willing to give it a try.
Shame it’s not on Steam, which is why I won’t be getting it.
I am sure someday
@@ACGreviews Probs 1 year later as is the tradition whit Epic exclusives.
Was on the fence with this one and you’ve just pushed me over. Thanx for the review.
Great review, but is it just me or you didn't really give it a buy, Wait for a sale, never touch it rating?
Ikr lol
Its weird. Not many people noticed this. I think the reviewer forgot or something.
Thank you. As always the best reviews on TH-cam. The most insightful and detailed.
Repetitive after a few hours
you are always the go to for reviews. best part is your witty analogies.
Looks really empty. Skip this.
You're keeping it 💯
I was waiting on you. You dont know how many times I typed in my search bar. “Dead island 2 buy, or wait for sell” looking for your video lol
Looks so boring
Best game reviewer on TH-cam hands down. Much love 💙
Always watch your review of a game before I buy and trust your opinion. Like how you break down the review into sections. Keep up the great work. 😀
Great review my guy. No BS love it. I’m happy this game is finally coming out
Love the review! Personally waiting for a bit before grabbing. Too much coming out besides college finals to get through. Keep up the great work!
I like watching game reviews after I’ve bought and played the game. lol I don’t know why, but it’s comforting? Anyone else do this?
I’ve been waiting for you to post this, I’ve watched other reviews but you’re the only one I trust
