I never had a Wii - wasn't particularly sold on the motion controls thing. But a housemate got one and, yeah, Wii sports was awesome. I think I figured out that the golf was much easier sitting down waving your arm back and forth instead of pretending you're holding a golf club.. oh and I remember I somehow managed to screw up my elbow playing Wii tennis. Also YAY Dreamcast! Got mine on launch day in the UK - don't think we got Soul Calibur as a launch title here IIRC?
Same. Have always loved stuff like this, I'm not sure how to detail it but another thing that falls under the category is for example on a "whodunit"episode of a tv show where they go through and give each characters perspective. I'm not sure what it is about list/order based promises but I've always loved it.
As average as Red Steel ended up being, there was something magical about turning the Wiimote to the side and having you character in game turn his gun the same way. That was a ‘wow’ moment for me on launch day.
It's a shame the first game got so much hate. Not because it was secretly amazing or anything. Simply because- by all accounts- the sequel _was_ a lot better, and the devs really seemed to put in the effort for it, judging from all the previews/interviews. As a concept, it's something that deserved to flourish into a genre. Hell, if things were different, VR may have evolved even faster.
i only got the sequel, but I remember red steel II being a lot of fun. i don't remember any major control issues, but it was like 10+ years ago for me.
The most underrated game on the Wii was Red Steel 2. Mannn with motion plus that was some amazing sword fighting game. Really wish it got more recognition.
@@pistachiodisguisey911 actually I think. Ben is roughly the same age as me and I'm 28. But yeah it's a great show he should definitely give it a watch.
Shaun Kennedy No I don’t mind a darker tone. The game just bored the hell out of me and the pacing is god awful in my opinion. Zelda is one of my favorite game series and has been in my childhood and adulthood but twilight princess is the worst Zelda game I’ve played.
Twilight Princess was the only launch title that I picked up and I definitely wasn't disappointed. I'll always remember the novelty of aiming the bow for the first time. Great game.
21:00 I think it's a great start. It's something really mundane but it clearly excites Link which sets the mood of how quint the village is. Many say it's aged poorly but I strongly disagree. A lot of the animations are still really great and the atmosphere is as powerful and eerie as it has ever been. When I played TP as a teenager I actually liked how it started off so small. It made me feel so much more mature that the game trusted me to have it start out very natural. I felt a connection with Ordon village that I never felt for any location in OOT.
I loved the Wii, it really helped me and my sisters bond playing Wii sports, just dance, and Mario kart haha. I feel like consoles are now focused on just one person using them at a time
Get on Zelda Link to the Past. Its available for "free" on your SNES App for Switch if you're subscribed to their $20 a-year online service. It's so worth it and the game every Zelda game before BotW was based on.
Twilight Princess is best played on GameCube for sure! Although I didn't mind the Wii controls too much. Probably quite well known but the Wii version's world is completely mirrored from the GameCube version. This is because more people are right handed whereas Link is usually left handed....so they mirrored the whole world! Wii Sports is generally so much fun, I think the golf was my favourite.
@Guy Dude Lol, no not at all. Ha, I honestly never realised he was in those too. Skyward Sword makes sense I guess but I must have not paid enough attention in Breath of the Wild. I love them all!
@Guy Dude Oh no lol, I have no problem at all with it. Very weird thing to bash them for ha I genuinely like Skyward Sword a bunch :) Actually been really wanting to play it again as it has been a while.
I thought the first one was on OK FPS with a sword gimmick that was cool for the first few times, but once the novelty wore off, yeah, the sword play in the first one was awful. I think RS2 was one of the best games on the system, and maybe the very best example of motion controls of any Wii game.
Worth noting that the pixar cars game has two whole other sections of the map to unlock and has a lot of hidden platforming areas that make it a really strange game considering you can make the cars jump to collect hidden extra point things
Really enjoying your launch line up videos! All your content is great, actually - only discovered your channel recently. While I don't feel like emulation really does justice to how bad (or at least, jaggy) some of the games looked on the original hardware, I get that there are probably practical issues with actually capturing some of this stuff.
Since Wii Sports and Zelda TP (and to a lesser extent Trauma Center) was all I ever cared about the Wii's launch lineup I'd completely forgotten how full of shovelware it was already! A perfect example of quantity over quality.
I totally missed out in the wii era. I bought a wiiu recently with mario galaxy, LOZ twilight princess, kirby's epic yarn, punch out, and mad world. Great game.
The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy (we had it on GameCube) was so fun to play with my brother when I was a kid, but you definitely need to like the show to enjoy it
I wish it was played in the original hardware because those graphics are too nice for Wii. It was way worse especially if you still had a CRT like many in 2005.
Aw you skipped the “driving” in COD that nearly killed the Wii for me. I loved my Wii for the Nintendo games for Wii and Twilight Princess but the others no thanks.

Wii port of Twilight Princess is still to this day my favorite Wii game. Way, way better than the underwhelming GameCube port. Link never looked more bad ass then ever in that Zelda title.
For anyone who wants an OK Racing game on the Wii, I say get Carbon! That joke in the Tony Hawk game is almost a word for word rip off from Homer the Vigilante.
Glad I wasn’t the only one to notice that.
Twilight Princess was my first Zelda game, and still the only one I've played aside from Breath of the wild. I miss Midna.

Why?

Here’s why.
Every episode you can make a drinking game out of how many times he says "oh yeah here we go sports time!"
The last part of that Tony Hawks clip at 21:58 is a Simpsons reference, it's from when Homer sets up the vigilante group.
It's either a direct reference or complete plagiarism and I'm not sure which.
