    That is amazing to see that the Banquet Hall kept the Palomino stage !

    It is staggering to me to think of all the incredible music that took place on that tiny little stage at the Palomino. Great video, dude!

    I loved seeing this. I know every song from this movie. I was the soundtrack when I was a kid.

    The first time i watched the movie, in the 80's, i thought the Palomino was not a real place, that it was just built for the film. When i was looking for the location, i thought the building was just destroyed. "The Palomino" is no more, but, at least, the building remains.

    Loved the diner. It looks like nothing has changed inside since 1978, and it still has the same 'We're OPEN' sign in the front window ...

    It is too bad that the Palomino became a banquet hall, what a shame. The Texas Hall of Fame in Bryan, Texas use to host many famous recording artists, such as Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Tim McGraw, Becky Hobbs, Joe Stampley and many more. I had also performed on stage at the Texas Hall of Fame with a few country bands, playing keyboards. Sadly, the owner died and requested to shut down the Texas Hall of Fame and now there is a warehouse where Walmart is at.

    I love the Carolwood Barn. I’m a Disney brat and alumni. I got to meet so many people when I worked in Collectibles there.

    The first time I ever went to The Palomino was to see Hoyt Axton. The pictures bring back a lot of memories of the movie and otherwise.

    Probably before your time, but Oingo Boingo played at the Palomino. I can't remember if it was under the name Oingo Boingo or Clowns of Death, but it was them.

    Is this the same diner where Clint went two on one in the parking lot?

  • @dathorndike4908
    @dathorndike4908 ปีที่แล้ว

    The coffee shop and its parking lot look unchanged from the movie. Cool. But what city in California is that? It's not Bakerfield I presume.

    There was a Palomino club in the Burt Reynolds movie Hooper, would this be the same place? (The Palomino in Hooper had no roof)

    • @chocolatcats
      @chocolatcats 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely it was a sound stage at Warner Brothers because the film locations for it didn't include The Palomino. But that's a great film!

    Do you happen to know where the road is, the opening scene is filmed, where Philo is driving the truck?

    • @FarmRanchHomestead
      @FarmRanchHomestead ปีที่แล้ว

      As the camera zooms in on the truck, he is on Laurel Canyon Blvd. at San Fernando Mission Blvd. headed northwest. If you look closely, you can see the old In-N-Out building at the bottom of the screen. It has since been rebuilt in their newer format.

    I love historical locations! I’m also a huge fan of Clint and all the films he made with Sondra Locke. Not a fan of his politics, but he was so handsome in his prime and seems like a genuinely kind individual, political leanings aside. Thank you so much for doing this video. Why would they change the iconic Palomino Club to another venue? They should have just renovated but kept the same layout as much as possible and the name to honor the history. Plus, you would think they would get a lot more business that way. That’s probably the point (they don’t want or need any additional business), or no one cares about history anymore, except for us geeks, 😂.

    • @ma3stro681
      @ma3stro681 ปีที่แล้ว

      Couldn't stand Sondra Locke, even as a 12yo when the movie came out. She just had this arrogance not befitting her very average-ness ...
