      I wouldn't want to have been you because laughter, especially the kind where your body scrunches and your eyes tear- that's hard when you can't make a sound. Happened to me on a train once, George Carlin book and sour, grim people who must have hated trains or travel....I've seen this film dozens of times and it STILL cracks me up- it sends up "the jet set"- Hollywood's dismal phonies so adeptly too- that automated house was decades ahead of my worst nightmare! The late Blake Edwards was GENIUS too. If you could ask Peter's ghost he'd tell you- I have to buy this film, I'm sick currently- I'm hopeful I recover fully, laughter helps...my partner is like your fellow passengers, doesn't like Sellers, not even The Pink Panther series featuring Clouseau the Clueless- i can't understand. I can't watch Sellers in bed because it shakes and he can't sleep! Grouches! Birdy Num Num...

    Needless to say we had a effing good time watching it........
    Your stomach will hurt afterwards from all the laughter and you
    will tear up out of pure joy while watching this.😂😂😂😂😂
    Some of the sketches are simply pure genius. Blake Edwards realy
    did it with this one and Sellers shows one of his best performances.

    Sellers ALMOST had his scenes stolen by the waiter; watch for him as he gets increasingly inebriated as the film progresses - hilarious. Keep an eye out for him, he's brilliant! :D

      @andrewphippsphillips1455 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Kris A You should hear where Steve (the guy playing the waiter) said there was so much foam,he nearly suffocated. The drunk blonde actress is in a chair & he calls to her to rinse off the foam with the "Vodka"(really water) cos he's gasping for air. They pump in foam from an airport firetruck & the stuff usually starves a fire of oxygen,in this case it almost starved the actors of life!!!

    • @71poiuytrewq
      @71poiuytrewq 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      So true!! Many of todays crude comedians seem to just rely on swearing, sexual references and "jokes" about bodily functions.
      The irony of course here is that Sellers would be the one labeled offensive in todays society. This sketch for example would be considered extremely "racist" and "offensive", with Sellers moral character being called into question.

    One of Peter Sellers' best non-Clouseau films, and directed by Pink Panther director, Blake Edwards. The Hollywood party plot is simple, and is really a situation for Sellers to react comedically against (I wonder how much of this was improvised?). Interestingly, Hrundi V Bakshi's bumbling bad luck and accident-prone nature is shared by Sellers' more famous character. However, Bakshi has his own charm, lacking the pride and ego of Clouseau, a gentle character going much more with the flow, dealing with a variety of embarrassing misunderstandings, all played to great comedic effect, and against expectations ending up with the girl. The supporting cast is excellent, especially the actors playing the increasingly-drunk waiter, the angry chef, the confused drunk actress, the obnoxious director with a hairpiece, the famous screen cowboy ("Howdy, pardoner!"), and the rich, polite, but increasingly-irritated Hollywood producer host of the party. There are lots of great scenes, but "Birdie num-nums" is probably the funniest sequence. I can watch this any number of times. :-)

    I loved Peter"s brilliance! But his writers were geniuses! Did he actually write and modify the script? Well yes! He was a geniuses too! Amazing! Perhaps the best comedy in Human history! Well... the most loved anyway!

      Rowan Atkinson stated that Jacques Tatis character Monsieur Hulot was the inspiration for Mr. Bean, but I'd dare put Peter Sellers and Jacques Tati in the same league.

    Thanks for sharing Mariluna...you grabbed the best excerpts from this hilarious film for our enjoyment. While Sellers is stellar, you are the artist that shared all this fun with us. Love&Peace from Denver, CO, Estats Units.
