@@Jack_to_Japan thanks! saw you other vid and added a suit to my amazon account lol. how are you liking it there? if all goes well I'll be there april 2023
Your expenses are very similar to mine here in Saga Prefecture. Yes cost of living is different in Japan and other countries as well. Im also an ALT in a Japanese private high school. I also teach cram school Mondays-Saturdays. Awesome video. New subscriber here from Saga, Japan 🗾🇯🇵
Hey Jack, thanks for the amazing videos. I would like to know if Borderlink is ok with its staff having a part time job just to help with the living expenses. Thanks
I can't say for certain. You would really need to ask them about that. It also depends on your visa. You can go to the immigration office and apply for a part-time allocation. However, I would ask borderlink as they are the final say on the matter.
yo yo, look for a "gyômu sûpâ" or 業務スーパー it's like a mini costco type of thing, aimed at small businesses, but open to everyone. Prices are good and they have some good stuff, that gets featured on tv regularly. Their frozen cheesecake is my recommendation.
Nice nice this is so amazing to hear. My question is on the employment form.. where they ask how long are you willing to stay or work? Is it ideal to say 1yr. Question 2, is when they ask how much you are going to have reserved after paying flight ticket. Is there a reasonable amount they are looking for.
Holy crap, ¥20k/mo for a full-time job is skirting minimum wage. Probably below minimum if you have any unpaid overtime. (No shade on you, just shocked at what Borderlink can get away with.) Btw if you are earning that little, you can apply at your city hall for a reduction or outright exemption from paying pension.
hey, jack! amazing video! i wanted to know how much you spent getting and settling down in japan. I know borderlink suggests flight cost + 500,000 yen.
@@Jack_to_Japan I think 70usd is reasonable price. Thank you Jack for another useful video. One more question can we do any part time job apart from being an ALT?
Do you mean your internet service on your phone is $70monthly? Will you advice someone just coming to go for the portable mifi or set up home internet?
Wow! That is a terrible salary. So bad its laughable. My Interac salary wasn't that low. I understand that depending on where you are teaching the contract will be different, but I was only contracted 29.5 hours a week at school, yet I still made more than you plus shakaihoken. I've heard horror stories about working for Borderlink. No pay for the month of August, right? All ALT companies are ran by shaisters. Yes, the Japanese higher ups are getting rich at your expense. You're getting paid to be a tourist, not a working class member of society. Anyways, excellent breakdown. :)
love the channel just got my schedule for 1st interview with borderlink
Do your best!

How to apply to cram schools po?
I love your videos. Thank you❤

Thank you so much for sharing!
Of course!
Hello Sir Jack. How are you. Thanks for your videos.
Doing well friend! Thanks for asking! I appreciate the support

Nice!
Super nice and concise! ✨
Thanks G, you always got that encouragement!
The music is so beautiful and inspiring. I'm thinking to move to Japan too. Can I talk to you about the process and overall journey?
Going to be heading over in less than a week. Do I bring cash to deposit or is there another way to bring money over?

How long do you want to stay there? I would say that amount of time. How much do you have after your flight? I would tell them that amount.
Tnx for break down.

Actually a good question, I will do some research.
Is there any gratuity or monetary benefit from the company after years of service to foreign teachers?
I don't think so.
hey, jack! amazing video! i wanted to know how much you spent getting and settling down in japan. I know borderlink suggests flight cost + 500,000 yen.
Flight cost from Hawaii, 2000 dollars for key money, 500,000 for personal expenses. Over all I brought about 8,000 dollars.
2000 dollars for key money? Wow!
@@jenn.a Yeah, not fun. I recommend looking for your own house or getting a share house l.
Hei Jack what are the thigs can we rent from borderlink?
Some small appliances, like a refrigerator and a microwave.

@@naninipondiaries Yes, I believe it is possible if it is with your visa perimeters.
@@Jack_to_Japan thank you Jack for your quick response
What about gas/electric/water. I hear you can pay these bills via the Convenience stores.
yes, you can
Hi Jack this is very helpful, how do I contact you personally for some information please
This is actually the best way to reach me. In the comments.
Is the transportation fee embedded or added?
Did use transport so Im not sure.
With 100k disposable income it may require some extra part time job in order to save.
Part-time teaching jobs aren't that hard to find. But every other kind of job pretty much needs a business level of Japanese
@@Jack_to_Japan Its very necessary to have a part job otherwise that money isn't sufficient especially for a family

Hello po, I am worried because I am not into living alone. Do they allow sharing of apartment?
As far As I Know, Yes. I believe they have Spouse and Family Accommodations.
@@Jack_to_Japan Thank you, but is it possible to work with other ALT's in same city?
