Thanks for this - I'm currently hunting for ALT positions in Japan, and this has given me a lot of info on some of the companies I hadn't researched yet.
Thank you for sharing all the crucial information about all the ALT/direct companies. The advice about finding a direct hire job within 6 months of your contract is a invaluable advice, thanks bro! :)
Thank you very much for giving the different possible companies with information on what you already knew or could find. This really is helpful, even if a bit brief.
Thank you Rebecca! I try not to talk too long about things as I feel most logistical information can be covered quickly. Feelings, recommendations and other personal information is a bit different and may require more time. However, I'm happy you enjoyed the video!
@@Jack_to_Japan I like that you kept it brief and that you included links to each companys' website. This way if the viewer wanted more details about that company and its requirements, they could could follow up on their own.

Great detailed video my man. Borderlink and Interac have both told me they don't have any current positions right now to offer me. Got another interview today with RCS coming up. I have english teaching experience in Japan before but I guess it's just that busy season >,
How sad about the screening process of Interac in some countries, because Primary educational course is a big factor. I am an Engineering graduate but they said that they can't consider it unless graduate of Education, Journalism, Theater Arts, Mass Communications, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Humanities/Liberal Arts. 😥😥😥
I used to work with Interac, the salary is low. 215,000 monthly. Deductions are: - Employment insurance - Tax - Social insurance - Pension Your actual salary: 188,000 to 193,000. Too low for me, I used to work with them for like 1 and a half? Every month of Springs they have this called "half pay day" that's the trashiest thing. Plus they don't have bonus that's another sh*tty thing too
“Other than borderlink” like they’re the biggest or most desirable company. I’ve heard their labour rights history and treatment of workers is pretty bad. But that goes for all of them except JET (for the most part) because that’s a government programme
Yup, they know what they are doing. I would say working for them for one year is enough. They are pretty much only there to get you to japan and give you a livable wage until you figure something else out. if you can get a better paying job or a different job all together, you're going to be better off.
@@Jack_to_Japan that’s a common myth, there isn’t anything “better” after getting to Japan unless you have high level Japanese and some other skills. It’s either a livable wage but terrible hours at an Eikaiwa or the opposite for ALT. If you have good Japanese and some skills though, these teaching companies are good for a visa.
Very helpful video! I've been looking at applying as an ALT with my husband. Sadly I haven't found any ALT companies that do combined applications so we'll just have to apply and note in our application that we'd like to be placed near each other so we can live together >< I noticed some of the companies help you get an apartment and you pay the key money. Does that mean the apartment will be ours and not under the school? We used to work in Korea so the schools usually controlled your apartment so you'd have to move out if you changed where you worked. We just want to get our own apartment since we want to settle in Japan for a long time (10-30yrs). Thank you~!
I am not married so I cannot help you with the whole joint application process, but in terms of Apartments, you are subleasing from the the Company. The school doesn't have a say in where you stay, unless there is something in the contract you sign that dictates that. It is important to read the contract and remember that the Japanese contract takes precedence over the English one.
I was more interested in ALTIA, but as you said they are not comfortable with taking an ALT from overseas so now I'm more into AtoZ. Can you give me update if they are still not comfortable taking ALTs fron overseas in 2024?
A great questions. I would say if you have documents that show you graduated from an elementary school, middle school, and high school, then you should be good on that regard. I don't actually know if there is any one single document that states "I have a 12 year education in English". However, I'm sure you can prove it with what you have.
