@ about 4m10 "Now here is the piece I see unfortunately people not necessarily understanding what this next part is" - why, yes that is exactly the screen I was looking at when I decided to go on TH-cam and watch your video :) Microsoft's docs say that the Subscription Center is built on the "service fabric", which I guess means that email distribution is not good enough reason for installing the full portal package, right? Thank you for publishing this video.
The portal would be used if you didn't want to embed your marketing forms on your own website. No need to install it for just sending out your emails 👍🏼
Megan, is there a reason why you see multiple 'rows' in the list of Dynamics Apps for D365 Marketing (before you configure one)? That has always confused me!
Hi Lu - you should see one for each license the organisation has purchased, and also you have the ability to add the solution only version of D365 Marketing. So if I have two environments and have purchased one license, I would be able to configure that license for one of my environments and then be able to add the solution only to the other one.
Hi Niño - it depends what you mean by populated by data of D365 Sales. If you clicked on the Contacts area you would see Contacts and if you clicked on the Leads area you would see Leads. The database is exactly the same regardless of if you are in the Marketing App or the Sales App. However, you only get the Marketing functionality when you are in the Marketing App.
great video, thank you. Only question I have quickly is, Do i need to buy a second Licence in order to have a Sandbox and Production set up? i saw in your video you had 3 available but we are only showing the one?
Yes, you do, but you can get a second one cheaper. From this page, scroll down and look at additional application instances: dynamics.microsoft.com/en-gb/marketing/pricing/ - Dynamics 365 Marketing customers who need an additional Marketing application for production or non-production use may purchase an additional application. With this application, customers get one instance of the Marketing application. Contacts and interactions are pooled at the tenant level and not included with this application.
Hi Megan, thank you for your explanation! Quick question, I have a trial environment and I can only have the (default) environment, cannot create a sandbox. Is there any specific reason why I wouldn't want to install marketing in this environment? Thanks
Hmmm, sounds like maybe you don't have the right licenses. Do you not have a Dynamics 365 environment with either Sales, Customer Service etc.? If you only have (default) then that doesn't sound like you have Dynamics 365.
wonderful!
Reading the documentation I was quite overwhelmed and confusion with if I needed portals or not. You made it crystal clear.
Fantastic video. Thanks very much
thank you my friend!!!
This was helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Hi Megan, after setting it all up, do we expect to have it populated by the data of Dynamics 365 Sales? Thanks!
