The only bad thing about these streams is that it is so much above the rest, that I cannot watch anything else without getting bored

Which is fine because it's 1.5 hours every day. I for one can never fucking catch up.
Also there's Joti Brar's stream every week.

Totally agree on your recommendation on Marxist literature (e.g. Capital 1,2,3) published by Progress Publishers (Moscow) or Foreign Languages Publishing House.
Unfortunately it is quite difficult to acquire these unless spending a hefty sum as the price of these editions are being jacked up under the pretext of being "collectors editions". This literature were dissiminated for the education of the proletariat. Unfortunately the petite bourgeoisie has started making money out of them

I think you minimize the Dutch roots of imperialism too much in this analysis. The Dutch were the first to rule the world for almost one hundred years before the Brits. They call it the 'golden century' ('gouden eeuw'). The Dutch also had the first stock market in history, hence capitalism has firm roots there. You can Google 'relative standing of great empires'. The University of Groningen did a good study on it, and in the graph you see that the Dutch had the most global wealth for about a hundred years as the first colonial super power. Dutch maritime power was unmatched, hence a small country became the global hegemon. Indeed, after 100 years the Brits took over. But to say that Britain is the oldest, original imperialism and capitalism leaves out the Dutch too much.

What's with the gloom Alex? Have you not been infected by the contagious jocosity of the chuckling Kamala?😊

There is a saying in Indonesia that the Japanese took more from us in 3 years than the Dutch took in 300 years.....

A question for Alex. Is the left/right distinction a valid one? Does it make sense to say that communists are on the left when all other formations on the left are manifestly opposed to it? Don’t left/right distinctions invariably lead to a broad alliance led by liberals and social democrats?

Agree. It's always been interesting to me that 'Actually Existing' socialist countries, apart from for relatively brief periods, have tended towards social conservatism on many issues that put them firmly on the 'Right' as far as conventional, modern Leftist ideology is concerned. They have also done more to retain specific national identities and culture than globalist liberal-capitalism.

Do to the "Marxist historiography" page at Wikipedia for a comprehensive list of marxist historians. Eric Hobsbawm comes to mind.

Aside from the whole British imperialism idea, one thing that dampens one's opinion of human nature is hearing about mass graves of 40,000 people. Makes you think.
