    Great review which confirmed why I shot a M6 classic since 1994 (mostly T-Max 400) with Summicron 35, 50 and 90mm lenses. More recently added a 2002 M6 TTL for colour and flash sync photography. Thanks a lot ;)

    Dude, great job and your English is fantastic! i grew up with an Olympus OM10, gift from my father, and I now have his OM 2N. I just bought, two days ago, the Leica Q2 and am also looking at the M9, but I love film and you did a great job on this. I will consider this as part of my next stash. Man can not have enough gear.... ;-)

    The Classic is also able to use the brass film cartridges from Leitz which were meant for bulk loading. Those cartridges don't fit into the TTL.

    Hi, great review. Thanks. I'm intrested in buying a m6 0.58. Is it possible to magnify the rangefinder in order for this model to make critical focus a lot easier on a 50mm 1.4? I like working with both a 35mm and a 50mm. Thanks

    Is your leica m3 double stroke or single stroke, what lens do you have for it?

  • @tomwestbrook

    Interesting that my M6 classic has the white metering dot but yours doesn't, or was yours not wound forward? Also, you eventually get used to which direction to turn the shutter speed dial in the Classic.

    Nice video. I reckon the best alternative for an M6 would be a Voigtlander Bessa. Same idea as the M6, but cheaper.

      True these are probably the cheapest M mount cameras around but didn’t have any laying around

    • @ComGoBoo
      @ComGoBoo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a Bessa before I got my M6. The Bessa is similar and has some advantages. If you don't care much about the feel, the Bessa is a great choice!
      But the M6 is more quiet and just a dream to use. I'd never swap my M6 for a Bessa.

      @@ComGoBoo I had a bessa R2 olive version! I had it for a year and it really was a wonderful camera! I would consider it to be the cheapest version of a Leica- like camera for sure! It was my gateway camera for listing a Leica and the only reason I sold it was because I recently got my Leica MP :)

    Im very glad i bought my M6 last year. A camera I will have for life. Now I just need some Leica glass. Although, my Zeiss 35mm F2.8 is doing just fine. How do you compare your Leica glass with some of your Zeiss glass???

    • @OneYearWithFilmOnly
      @OneYearWithFilmOnly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I absolutely love the Zeiss glass. Honestly if you're happy with your 35mm don't bother with Leica glass, it's also just as good and not sure the price difference is justified. Did a little comparison between Leica and Zeiss glass on a previous episode th-cam.com/video/GXm_avIODKY/w-d-xo.html

    • @alexiscosar8980
      @alexiscosar8980 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That Zeiss is really good enough. Really. The only thing it lacks, IMHO, is a bit of character compared to a Pre-ASPH Summicron, other than that, I wouldn’t bother looking into something like a Summicron ASPH, you would gain that extra stop but that’s about it. Yes you want to scratch that hitch, and that’s normal, we all do, but Zeiss glass is excellent, really.

    • @jaeAre200
      @jaeAre200 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alexiscosar8980 Wow, I think you really hit the nail on the head on that one hahaha. I really wanna itch that Leica glass itch. But me personally, I'm looking into the 28mm 2.8 ASPH. Obviously different focal lengths, but that's my Leica itch. My Zeiss to a Summicron, ehhh, like you said, I think i'm fine. BUT, I'm starting to fall in love with the 28mm focal length for Street.

    • @s_hu_5474

      @@jaeAre200 I had both 28mm biogon and elmarit asph then sold biogon. Elmarit 28mm asph is really nice lens, compact and small and sharp but sometimes I miss biogon because it's minimum distance is 50cm (I can't see in finder though). Have you already got one? I know how you feel just because it's Leica! check my elmarit review video ;)

    • @harnettjack2332
      @harnettjack2332 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I'm thinking of selling my MA for a M6 right now. But one thing I always worry about is the VF flare for M6. I saw lots of people report the issue. Since I've never used one, just wonder what's your opinion? How is the M6 viewfinder compared to M-A? Thank you!

    • @hellatightdude
      @hellatightdude 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@harnettjack2332 you may have already found your answer in the year between you posting this and now, but I have an M7 with the same viewfinder as the M6. I didn’t encounter the flare issue too often but when I did it was incredibly annoying. It will completely flare out your rangefinder patch and you won’t be able to focus. Keep in mind you won’t encounter it very often. If you’re worried about that I’d recommend an MP. You get all the quality and aesthetic of your beautiful M-A with a light meter. With how prices are lately for M6s getting a used MP (if you can find one ) really is not that much more.

    Nice quarantine haircut !
    Many arguments that are sometimes far from users concerns. These benefits can look like “strange” characteristic for a digital or “technologic” photographer. I think, a good resume can be that what could look complicated first will make your life easier and make yourself better at mid term !!
    Take the time to get used to it and you will love it !

    Hi! Very nice video!
    I would love to have one of the Leica m6. For now it is too expencive for mee.
    But there is one more cheap alternative for Leica. And it is USSR coppy of Leica III, Zorki. It is rangefinder whit interchengable lenses and it is so cheap. Zorki 4 whith lens Cost about 50 Euro. In my opinion best lens for this camera is 50 mm f2 Jupiter-8 which is Zeiss Sonnar copy.
    Bye!

    I have a Leica M6...how do you make a self-portrait (trigger the camera)?

    • @ShadowBoxer
      @ShadowBoxer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe two ways: 1) Attach a Cable Release to the shutter button. That's why it is threaded.Then you can stand nearby and push the plunger. With a M6 you won't be able to make a self portrait from a distance, like across the street. There is no timer feature. I believe only the original M3 had that. The battery now occupies the space where the timer was located on the M3. 2) Get a large mirror to take you self-portraits. Then you can set up your shot and simply trigger the shutter yourself since the camera will be right next to you.
      Cheers.
