  • Welcome to Rooting Mindfully. My name is Ayana. Today I am doing a video on a short tutorial where I show you how to make drainage holes in pots without using a drill. This project takes less than 2 minutes and will provide your plants with the drainage they need.

🪴Absolutely Amazing! You are such a bright spot! Your instructions, tips and demo..are right on target! It's just what I was looking for, as I have watched several videos, all which and seemed risky.. re: breaking the pot. I look forward to trying this soon.
I do not have a drill and didn't want to purchase one just to make holes so thank you very much. 🌻😊

Thank you so much. I am about to start planting some flowers in some pots and I worried because I don't have a drill. Now I know i don't have to have a drill anyway. So, thank you so much. I just found your channel and am subscribing. You should make these videos regularly because you have such a great on camera presentation. You make everything look so easy. Your voice is great and keeps my attention and you are also beautiful. Those two things make a great video. And you sound like you know what you are talking about. I'm so glad I found your channel. I appreciate you sharing your time.

I use a drill and diamond bit hole drills (which come in a set of various sizes) and a spray bottle of water. I can drill into pots of more varied materials without breaking them. Your method works well on those pots of yours.

Wow that was really fast !!! I’ve made drainage holes by using an old kitchen knife an going around an around, but it takes along time an arm muscle. This is much better. 💚

Hello friend. I recently repotted some propagations and other rootbound plants. I too had to put drainage holes to several pots, I used a drill bit for tile/porcelain.

Awesome!👍🏿🌱 I need to try this. Just bought a pot with one drainage hole in the middle but I prefer a few holes to make sure as much water is running through the pot when watered. Thanks!

You can do that, however, sometimes that pot will break open. The masonry bit or diamond drill bit is much safer and cleaner. Kudos for doing it that way and succeeding........😂

My luck I'd shatter the pot..lol I think this would be easier for this application depending on the material of the pot. OneLove ❣

That is an ok way but might I suggest that you buy a cheaper Phillips tip screwdriver to hammer on. The one your using has several different sections that pull out, flip around for other tips and hex head ends. By hammering on the screwdriver you screw up the rest of tips and that is a very handy screwdriver to have, like 11 in 1 and not cheap.

I do it using a hammer and a nail. it will chip away a bit on the inside, just the portion surrounding the hole, but it won't crack or anything like that.

I have done that with plastic pots and a Phillips screwdriver and hammer because I don’t have a soldering gun. I have a drill but it’s kind of awkward to use for me. Thanks for the video. 💚🪴🌱🌿💚
