EVERY lady needs her own set of tools and toolbox and exactly for the reason you mentioned. It's a life skill and a must for anyone who wants to be their own person. It's a life skill just like everyone should also know how to drive or go to the bank or cook (to the extent that at least they don't starve if they can't order food), sew, etc.
I just wanted to share what I have learned from my experiences. If you use a container of water and hold your pot in it upside down where the water just cover it and then drill your holes, you can avoid the blowout on the back side of your hole . Meaning the inside of your pot.
This video was right on time. I have 4 or 5 pots that need drainage holes and now I feel confident that I can do it. Thanks for a very informative video!
This is such a helpful video. Thank you so much for showing us what to do. :) I’m also in the process of making holes in my pots for plants, so you have been a blessing to watch. Thanks again.
Nice video. I ended up using an "extension" between the drill and the bit after this one time when the bit broke through the pot and the front of the drill slammed down on the pot and broke it. The extension gives me space between pot and drill.
That extension sounds very useful bc sometimes I just put my finger in between & go very slowly lol. The first time that happened to me I was shocked so I’ll have to look into it
@@ErikaLodes Hi Erika, unfortunately I don't think an extension will work with the hole-saws that you already have. An extension requires the bit/hole-saw to have a hex shaped shank (the part that goes into the drill) and it looks like your hole-saws have the smooth round shank.
@@ErikaLodes Maybe you *can* get one that works with round shank bits. If the bit fits into this it can be tightened down with the little set-screws on the side. www.amazon.com/Irwin-88702-6-Extension-Bit/dp/B00004YO9Y
Thanks for making this video, Erika! This was super helpful and a total gamechanger for my unused pots with no drainage. Have you tried using the diamond drill bits with glass before?
Ya! It works, but I haven’t tried it on thin glass. Just on mason jars! You have to go very slowly when getting to the end, because if you go too fast the drill will hit the glass & break it
Hi Erika, if you use a diamond hole saw with a pilot bit in the middle, it will make it a lot easier to drill (it won't slide around on the surface). They sell them at Lowe's and Home Depot.
for bigger pots i use the 50 cent plastic plates at Target to catch the extra water, you can't even see them most of the time and there's a few colors to choose from! for small pots i use any extra lids to containers or small tea dishes
Thank you for this video. I was scared of cracking didn’t know about the water I’m going to be doing all my pots this weekend Project for me and my daughters to do together with all the plants I get for Mother’s Day. ♥️
This is a great video 👍 I don't think I've ever seen one like this on youtube. Is your drill easier to loosen and tighten? Because it looks like it is. 🌿
i may have skipped past it in the video, but does this work for ALL kinds of pots? as in ceramic, terracotta, glass, etc? sorry if you mentioned that already and i missed it, this was a super helpful video though!!
I don’t really use saucers 😅 but I let them dry on terra cotta / plastic ones when I take them out of water. Then I’ll just put them back where they belong without a saucer
Hello Erika, great demonstrations. I cultivate bonsai and the pots are so expensive. I go to thrift stores or good will for pots. I do drill holes with concrete drills shapes. Where did you purchase those bits. Do you know if Lowe's or home Depot sales those?
Gracias Erika, I went to Lowe's and did not found them. But I gat lucky and found a 15 pieces set for 14 dollars. But did not know they existed until I watch your video. Great job Amiga.
I cannot believe how literally on spot what I am making a list to take w me to a big box store in an hour. Planned on just asking an associate Already knowing and accepting that I was going to just purchase what was reccomend. Only because before your video of a few minutes ago the difference between a good one and a basic Thank you Erika ❤🌱 I will assume same bit for glass.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand you have successfully exposed yourself as the lil misogynistic bitter sad incel you are. :) And I wish you get surrounded by everythng feminist all around you when you get so triggered and start crying and raging by seeing just a girl with her plantpots and a drill LMAO! lol
Tilting the drill at an angle and make an indentation on the surface to give you better control is an incredible useful tip!
🎉 You go girl 🎉"Every planty girl" needs "her own" drill. Period! We don't need to ask our dad's, bf, spouses, and friends to drill a simple hole!
YES! 🙌🏽

Ok. You convinced me to buy a drill now. I was always afraid lol.
Ya you got this!!
I’m going to get me too.👍🏽🥰🙏

Oh perfect! Good luck! 😊
Girl, I was gonna go to Lowes and buy an expensive drill with the bits. You saved me some major coins. Thank you!
Literally purchased the diamond drill set. I have lots of cute mugs and pots with no holes
thanks for showing this in detail and watering several times. that helps so much it seems to have a super clean cut
The rain and the melody in the background has me all relaxed!
I’m glad! I tried to make it as nice as possible with a drill going off 😅
This is such a helpful video. Thank you so much for showing us what to do. :) I’m also in the process of making holes in my pots for plants, so you have been a blessing to watch. Thanks again.
you're awesome, nice video, I love the freedom to get any pot you want knowing that you can make your own hole
THANK YOU! Just what I was looking to do and you made it easy to follow.
Because of you, I now think I can do this. I'm ordering the drill bits. Thank you!
This video is so calming. Now I need to purchase a drill ASAP!
Nicely explained and demonstrated. Enjoyed watching you drilling a hole.
I just picked up some holeless pots at Goodwill today, talk about timely!
Good for you for showing how to attach and remove the drill bit! And I had no idea there was a lock position on a drill 🙄 lol.
Yes use that lock position 🔒 I’m always worried about accidentally drilling when I’m just moving it around haha

I’ll check it out, thanks!
Thank you so much for this video I have been wanting to try this but was a little reluctant but seeing you do it has boosted my confidence
Thank you so much I have a nice terracotta that needs holes but was afraid that I might crack it. Great advice thanks for sharing.😊
Now I need to get a drill, diamond drill bit and some pots. Thanks Erika.😁
Get drilling 🤩
I totally get why we need holes but what do I do about protecting surfaces underneath like wood floors? That’s visually nice haha
There are many sizes of terracotta saucers, plastic and cork floor protectors, plus plant stands on casters that will do the trick
for bigger pots i use the 50 cent plastic plates at Target to catch the extra water, you can't even see them most of the time and there's a few colors to choose from! for small pots i use any extra lids to containers or small tea dishes
@ benita xz There ya go! Any disposable lids turned upside down for moisture like cottage cheese, cool whip, butter etc work so well. Recycle, yay!
I use clear trays & terra cotta saucers. They’re not the prettiest to look at, but I usually remove them after the plant stops dripping
You could add round felt furniture leg stickers. They sell them at Walmart.
I'm so excited to find your video. I have many ceramic and glass containers I'd like to drill for orchids and other plants 🤗
Omg I just tried make holes on my ceramic pot but it kept spinning out of place. Thanks for sharing this tip!!
Great video, it makes me wanna do it!!! You make it look so easy
Trust me it is so easy!!
You are a sweetheart Erika, this my favorite plant channel. Update on the Hoya Carnosa “Hindu rope” it’s already getting new leaves 🍃😁
I have 2 porcelain bathroom sinks I found, really nice. Can I plant my albo monstera borsigiana Inuit when it’s time of course
tutorial god 🙇🏻♂️
Really??? 💪🏼😎
Thanks always thought it was hard to do, will have to try this for sure.
Super easy, you’ll get it first try!
Hi!! Love the video!!!
I have a question :B Can you do more than 1 hole (like 3) or is it too risky?
I have successfully drill multiple holes in multiple pots.
Thank you for this video. I was scared of cracking didn’t know about the water I’m going to be doing all my pots this weekend Project for me and my daughters to do together with all the plants I get for Mother’s Day. ♥️
Did it work? Did you break any?
You could hold garden hose with slow flow while drilling to flush debris and to cool.
Thanks you! I have tools but no diamond drill bit. Thank you for sharing 💕
Easy peasy you already got half of what you need 😊
This is a great video 👍 I don't think I've ever seen one like this on youtube. Is your drill easier to loosen and tighten? Because it looks like it is. 🌿
Yes it’s so easy, little to no effort
What size drill bit do u recommend for pot hole? Thx!
i may have skipped past it in the video, but does this work for ALL kinds of pots? as in ceramic, terracotta, glass, etc? sorry if you mentioned that already and i missed it, this was a super helpful video though!!
Awesome video! 💪 I’m ready to drill some pots 🪴
HI, were your diamond bits expensive? I just bought super cheap ones and not sure if they will work. Thanks, great vid
I loved this video, it was so comforting for some reason!!! :)
Thank youuu!!!
Don't you need a matching tray or they will leak water all over?
Ya, but I don’t have any surfaces that would be damaged by water so I don’t mind
@@ErikaLodes you are lucky. I cover the underneath of most of my pot trays with masking tape so they don't scratch the surface they sit on.
Great video! What about teracota pots? Won't it broke?
I haven’t tried it on terra cotta without glaze on it, but I think it should be the same. If not even easier 👀
Can you drill from the inside out?
What do you use for saucers for these drilled pots?
I don’t really use saucers 😅 but I let them dry on terra cotta / plastic ones when I take them out of water. Then I’ll just put them back where they belong without a saucer
Those black rubbers come off don’t they? There should be holes there?
Looks like you are having a fun with that drill👍🏽😎😂🥰
Great job 👏🏼
Thanks 🤩
I cut the top ledge off the nursery pot and sand it to fit in the pot.
Question: WHAT is the purpose of the water?
👍🏻
It keeps the drill bit from overheating. Like when tiles are cut.
Hi Erika can you do an update on you’re Albo Monstera!! Pleaseeee
There’s not much to update for it yet :/ the new leaf is still just a nub lol, but it’s sloooowly sprouting up.
This was so helpful!! 💕
Great video...I feel more confident...safety glasses!
Quite helpful.
Hello Erika, great demonstrations. I cultivate bonsai and the pots are so expensive. I go to thrift stores or good will for pots. I do drill holes with concrete drills shapes. Where did you purchase those bits. Do you know if Lowe's or home Depot sales those?
I got them off of Amazon, but I’m sure both stores carry them!
Gracias Erika, I went to Lowe's and did not found them. But I gat lucky and found a 15 pieces set for 14 dollars. But did not know they existed until I watch your video. Great job Amiga.
I am sorry. I clicked the dislike by mistake.
Why the water?
To keep the drill bit cool.
Good video. Thx
Thanks 🙏🏼
i just had to skip class to watch the video!!! LOVE YOU🤩🤩🤩
Lol don’t skip class 😂
aaahhhh thank you! I'm still to scared to drill LOL
Don't be! Wear eye protection just in case and take it s l o w l y at first. You'll be a pro in no time!
Exactly! You have nothing to worry about. Even test on an ugly pot for your first try to get the hang of it
Some plants need even more drainage holes.
A pillar drill makes this task 10 times easier.
and my drill is now coming on Wednesday
Yayy!

Exactly works for glass too
drill plug
Major key
I need to get a diamond bit! I’ve been using a....hammer and punch. 🤣
Wait really!! How does that even work 💀💀💀
@@ErikaLodes very carefully 🤣 tapping and chipping away verryyyy slowly 💀
That is so funny 😂 whatever gets it done!
Where is the glass drilling?
The struggle, yup I have so many beautiful pots without holes and its sad... 😟
Hiiiii! Sweet tutorial, and thanks for the linkuuuuuuuuus!
Hiii! Thanks 😊
Next time switch the drill to clockwise direction, it will be easier
Thanks Erica for uploading this. I appreciate it. 💚🌱
Why not just use a nursery pot inside the pot?
You can use that on glasses too.
Yep!

Your drill is an electric screwdriver. Your dad's drill is a drill!
I just want t say that it is very tiering to listen to so much talk if you only want to know how to do the freakin hole....
